Herentals is a city in the province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the city of Herentals proper and the towns of Morkhoven and Noorderwijk. On January 1, 2006 Herentals had a total population of 26,071. The total area is 48.56 km2 which gives a population density of 537 inhabitants per km². Saint-Waldetrudis is the patron saint of the city. Herentals is often referred to as the capital of the Belgian Campine region. Herentals has some outstanding historical buildings, including the church, town hall and the old city gates; Bovenpoort, the Northern gate, and Zandpoort, the Western gate. Pairi Daiza is a privately owned zoo and botanical garden located in Brugelette in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The 65-hectare large animal theme park is located on the site of the former Cistercian Cambron Abbey, and is home to over 4,000 animals. The name is taken from the Avestan word pairi daēza, which is the source of the [Persian language] word paradise. Pairi Daiza is owned and operated by Pairi Daiza Belgium SA, a limited company previously listed on NYSE Alternext Brussels . It is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria , and participates in the European Endangered Species Programme .

Fall is our most favorite season, and the people of Kasterlee, Belgium know exactly how to celebrate the arrival of Fall with their yearly Pompoenregatta! Kasterlee, located in the Antwerp province is one the largest pumpkin producing regions in Belgium. Every year, the Kasterlee Kayak Klub and the Pumpkin Society organize a festival purely dedicated to pumpkins, and their pumpkin kayak racing competition is one of their largest events. Gigantic pumpkins are hollowed out and used as kayaks and participants of all ages take part in this fun and festive race.
