Huntington is a hamlet located in the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The Census Bureau has also defined a census-designated place with the same name that corresponds to the most densely populated area, however local understanding of the hamlet may differ somewhat from the census definition. The aggregate demographic and geographic data for the hamlet is also included in the data for the Town of Huntington. The population was 18,406 at the 2010 census.     Payette Lake is a natural lake, formed by glacial activity, situated in the upper drainage basin of the Payette River, which drains into the Snake River in southwestern Idaho. Outflow from the lake is regulated for irrigation purposes by a small dam completed in 1943. The normal maximum lake surface elevation of 1,520 metres above sea level is attained in July; a normal drawdown of 1.7 metres is completed by December. The lake surface area and volume, excluding islands, are 20.5 square kilometres and 0.75 cubic kilometres , respectively; mean and maximum depths are 36.8 metres and 92.7 metres , respectively; and shoreline length is about 36 kilometres .
