Kampenhout is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Berg, Buken, Kampenhout proper and Nederokkerzeel. On January 1, 2006, Kampenhout had a total population of 10,956. The total area is 33.49 km² which gives a population density of 327 inhabitants per km². Honorary citizenship has been bestowed upon Jules Penninckx, Armand Preud'homme, cyclist Raymond Impanis, singer Will Tura, athlete Kim Gevaert and Stef Maginelle. Sabena Flight 548 crashed near Berg on February 15, 1961, killing all on board, as well as one person on the ground.

1. Basilica of the Sacred Heart Koekelberg
The National Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic Minor Basilica and parish church in Brussels, Belgium. The church was dedicated to the Sacred Heart, inspired by the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Paris. Symbolically, King Leopold II laid the first stone of the basilica in 1905 during the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence. The construction was halted by the two World Wars and finished only in 1969. Belonging to the Metropolitan Archbishopric of Mechelen-Brussels, it is one of the ten largest Roman Catholic churches by area in the world.Located in the Parc Elisabeth atop the Koekelberg Hill in Brussels' Koekelberg municipality, the church is popularly known as the Koekelberg Basilica .
