Kaycee is a town in Johnson County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 263 at the 2010 census. It is home to a museum that preserves the cattle ranching heritage of the area, especially the history of the Johnson County War. Kaycee was incorporated in 1906 after the establishment of a small post office and general store. The town was named after the brand KC used by its earliest homesteader, John Nolan. The government required the name to be spelled out resulting in Kaycee. True West: An Old-School American Ranch Rodeo (Kaycee, Wyoming)

The American West has big, glitzy rodeos, awash in stadium lighting and a sea of ads. But there are smaller affairs, too, called ranch rodeos. These community events are much closer to the original Western spring roundups, where ranch-hands would socialize and compete, staking bets on who among them would prove the best roper or horse-breaker. Most of the ranch rodeo competitions are for teams, rather than individuals, and it's more about skills than showmanship. Filmed in Kaycee, Wyoming.
