Kaycee is a town in Johnson County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 263 at the 2010 census. It is home to a museum that preserves the cattle ranching heritage of the area, especially the history of the Johnson County War. Kaycee was incorporated in 1906 after the establishment of a small post office and general store. The town was named after the brand KC used by its earliest homesteader, John Nolan. The government required the name to be spelled out resulting in Kaycee. U.S. Highway 20 is an east–west United States highway that stretches from the Pacific Northwest all the way to New England. The 0 in its route number indicates that US 20 is a coast-to-coast route. Spanning 3,365 miles , it is the longest road in the United States, and particularly from Newport, Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts, the route is roughly parallel to that of the newer Interstate 90 , which is in turn the longest Interstate Highway in the U.S. There is a discontinuity in the official designation of US 20 through Yellowstone National Park, with unnumbered roads used to traverse the park. True West: An Old-School American Ranch Rodeo (Kaycee, Wyoming)

The American West has big, glitzy rodeos, awash in stadium lighting and a sea of ads. But there are smaller affairs, too, called ranch rodeos. These community events are much closer to the original Western spring roundups, where ranch-hands would socialize and compete, staking bets on who among them would prove the best roper or horse-breaker. Most of the ranch rodeo competitions are for teams, rather than individuals, and it's more about skills than showmanship. Filmed in Kaycee, Wyoming.
