It is the fifth largest city in Norway and the municipality is the sixth largest in Norway, with a population of 88,598 as of June 2016.     Oddernes is a borough in the municipality of Kristiansand in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The borough covers eastern Kristiansand on the east side of the Topdalsfjorden and the Varodd Bridge. The borough includes the former municipalities of Randesund and Tveit. There was a municipality of Oddernes from 1838 until 1965, but its boundaries were very different from those of the present-day borough.

    Søm Church is a parish church in Kristiansand municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway. It is located in the district of Søm in the borough of Oddernes in the city of Kristiansand. The church is part of the Randesund parish in the Kristiansand arch-deanery in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The red brick church was built in 2004 using designs by the architects Arild Lauvland and Arne Åmland. The 1,400-square-metre church seats about 400, but it can be expanded to seat a total of 650. The church was consecrated on 28 November 2004.One large and several smaller tapestries are created by textile artist Else Marie Jakobsen.

The Tveit district is located in the northeastern part of Kristiansand, northeast of the Topdalsfjorden along the lower part of the Tovdalselva river. Tveit is the site of the main airport for Southern Norway: Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik. The district was the separate municipality of Tveit from 1838 until it was merged into Kristiansand in 1965. The village of Tveit lies along the Tovdalselva river, about 3 kilometres northeast of the airport. Tveit Church is located in the village.
