Laingsburg is a city in Shiawassee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,283 at the United States 2010 census. Laingsburg is a former agricultural community that transitioned over the 1990s into a bedroom community for Lansing, the state capital. The town itself is small, but the community includes a geographically large area including three man-made lakes , one natural lake , and a large rural track. Lake Ovid is part of a 2000+ acre Sleepy Hollow State Park. The community is unified by common postal service and school service. Laingsburg was named for Dr. Peter Laing, who operated a local tavern.

Sleepy Hollow State Park is a public recreation area covering 2,678 acres in the townships of Ovid and Victor in Clinton County, Michigan. The state park is located off US-127 five miles southeast of St. Johns and four miles northwest of Laingsburg and centers around man-made, 410-acre Lake Ovid.

The Binder Park Zoo is a 433-acre zoo that opened in 1977 near Battle Creek, Michigan, in the United States. Binder Park Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Michigan, and features a large array of animals and plants, including the Wild Africa Exhibit. It includes a train, a tram, a carousel, and Wildlife Discovery Theatre. The Binder Park Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums , and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums .

Dow Gardens is a 110-acre botanical garden located at 1809 Eastman Avenue, Midland, Michigan, United States. It is open to the public, and currently contains over 1700 varieties of plants hardy in mid-Michigan. The main entrance has geographical coordinates of 43.623378°N 84.249612°W / 43.623378; -84.249612. The Dow Gardens were started in 1899 by Herbert Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company, and gardener Elzie Côte, on eight acres of flat, sandy land. The Herbert H. Dow House is located at the southwest corner of the gardens. The Alden Dow House and Studio are on the west side of the gardens, separated by a pond. Subsequent generations of the Dow family have continued to develop the gardens.
