Limerick is a city in County Limerick, Ireland. It is located in the Mid-West Region and is also part of the province of Munster. Limerick City and County Council is the local authority for the city. The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and the Abbey River. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. With a population of 94,192 , Limerick is the third most populous urban area in the state, and the fourth most populous city on the island of Ireland.

1. King John's Castle Limerick
King John's Castle is a 13th-century castle located on King's Island in Limerick, Ireland, next to the River Shannon. Although the site dates back to 922 when the Vikings lived on the Island, the castle itself was built on the orders of King John in 1200. One of the best preserved Norman castles in Europe, the walls, towers and fortifications remain today and are visitor attractions. The remains of a Viking settlement were uncovered during archaeological excavations at the site in 1900.

The Hunt Museum holds a personal collection donated by the Hunt family, it was originally situated in the University of Limerick, before being moved to its present location in the Georgian Custom House in 1997. The Custom House is situated on Rutland Street on the banks of the River Shannon at its confluence with the Abbey River. Among the museum's collection are works by notable artists and designers such as Pablo Picasso, Jack B. Yeats, and Sybil Connolly as well as distinctive historical items such as the O' Dea Mitre and Crozier.

1. Don't Say “Top of the Morning”
No one uses it and it's corny and you'll stand out like a tourist!

2. Don't Use A Phony Irish Accent
The locals hate it!

3. Don't Talk About Leprechauns
The Irish find this tiresome and boring, yet another thing that would make anyone stand out like a tourist.

4. Don't Brag That You’re 100% Irish
Even if both sides of your family hail from Ireland, if you’re traveling from the US, you’d be considered Irish-American.

5. Don't Just Visit Dublin
You'll miss all the lush green countryside! You’ll definitely want to explore rural areas, other cities and landmarks such as Galway, Belfast, Killarney National Park, Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher.

6. Don't Order Corned Beef and Cabbage
This is not the national dish of Ireland. It was a creation made up by Americans and is something they eat on St. Patrick’s Day. In Ireland this meal doesn't really exist, if you do find it on a menu, you can be sure its a restaurant that caters to tourists.

7. Don’t Skip Your Round
In Irish pubs it’s a common practice to order drinks in rounds. For example, if you’re with a group of four people, everyone in the group takes turns buying a round of drinks.

8. Don't Compare Ireland to Home
Not only is this kind of rude, but locals find it very annoying to constantly hear how things like service, food, culture, people, etc. compare to your home country.

But there are lots of differences, like the way everyone waves to you in the car. I don't know you, why are you waving?

9. Don't Avoid the Finger Twitch
While driving on country roads, it's common practice to raise your hand or finger from the steering wheel when you pass someone. It’s a polite way of saying hello to oncoming drivers, even if the respective drivers do not know each other.

Visited the cliffs of Moher - standing 702 feet at their highest point the cliffs stretch for 5 miles along the Atlantic coast of County Clare. There is true magic in the green hills and white mists of Ireland.
