Guidoriccio da Fogliano at the siege of Montemassi is a fresco on the western wall of the Sala del Mappamondo in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena. It shows Guidoriccio da Fogliano, the commander of the Sienese troops, on horseback against the background of a landscape in which the siege of Montemassi takes place.. The Abbey of Sant'Antimo, Italian: Abbazia di Sant'Antimo, is a former Benedictine monastery in the comune of Montalcino, Tuscany, central Italy. It is approximately 10 km from Montalcino about 9 km from the Via Francigena, the pilgrim route to Rome. After many years of disuse, the abbey was reoccupied in 1992 by a small community of Premonstratensian Canons Regular. Since January 2016, the occupants are a community of monks of the Olivetan Benedictine order. A tributary of the river Orcia, the Starcia, runs near the abbey.

Lake Bolsena of central Italy, is a lake of volcanic and tectonic origin. Roman historic records indicate activity of the Vulsini volcano occurred as recently as 104 BC; it has been dormant since then. The two islands in the southern part of the lake were formed by underwater eruptions following the collapse that created the depression. The lake is supplied entirely from the aquifer, rainfall and runoff, with one outlet at the southern end. A sewage treatment plant filters most of the raw sewage from the surrounding communities. Constructed in 1996, it features pipelines transporting the sewage from every major community around the lake to the treatment plant on the Marta River; that is, no effluents enter the lake. We start in Arcidosso, where stone carved alchemical symbols bear witness to the Knights Templars. Climbing Mt Labro, up to the Giurisdavidica tower we have breath-taking views on the Tuscan Archipelago and learn about the charismatic man and self-proclaimed messiah who founded his own cult. We continue on the footsteps of the Etruscan Civilization walking through 2500-year-old mysterious “Vie Cave”, roads carved deep into the rock adorned with astrological signs. We admire the unrivalled burial architecture of the Necropolis of Sovana, where cave-like tombs lay under monumental temples carved out of volcanic tufa rock.
