Paralimni is a town situated in the southeast of Cyprus, slightly inland, within the Famagusta District. Since the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, it has increased in size and status, due to the migration of many refugees fleeing from the north. Many of the people who work in the tourist industry of Protaras and Ayia Napa live in Paralimni, which is now the temporary administrative centre of the Famagusta District and the biggest municipality of the district under the control of the internationally-recognised Government of Cyprus.

    Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach in the resort of Protaras, Cyprus. In 2011, TripAdvisor declared it to be the third best beach in Europe, but it dropped to 13th place in 2013.As with all beaches in Cyprus, access to the public is free, whilst bed and umbrella hire is chargeable. A municipal car park provides parking within a short walk. The sandy beach stretches for 500m and the waters are clean enough for the beach to have been awarded blue flag designation. The beach, which runs the length of its own cove, takes its name from the fig trees located close to the coast. There is an uninhabited islet easily reached by swimming through the shallow waters, the location of which provides a good shelter for the rest of the beach.   • 5. Kapparis Beach Protaras
    Kapparis is a coastal village in Cyprus near Paralimni and Protaras, and 15 kilometres from Famagusta. Most buildings there are new. There some air raid shelters at Kapparis built during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Visitors from the UK and Greece come to the village on holiday, and there are a number of places to eat. The beach in Kapparis is called Fireman's Beach, because it's near the fire station upon the cliff top. It was owned by Britain in the 1950s. It is in the Famagusta district 30 miles from Larnaca. The main road though Kapparis is called Kennedy Ave.

    Nissi Beach is a well-known beach in the resort of Ayia Napa, Cyprus. The beach stretches for 500 metres and the water is clean enough for the beach to have been awarded blue flag designation. The beach, which runs the length of its own cove, takes its name from the small islet of Nissi located close to the coast. The uninhabited islet can be easily reached on foot through the shallow waters and its location provides a good shelter for the rest of the beach.
