South Holland is a province of the Netherlands with a population of just over 3.6 million as of 2015 and a population density of about 1,300/km2 , making it the country's most populous province and one of the world's most densely populated areas. Situated on the North Sea in the west of the Netherlands, South Holland covers an area of 3,403 km2 , of which 585 km2 is water. It borders North Holland to the north, Utrecht and Gelderland to the east, and North Brabant and Zeeland to the south. The provincial capital is The Hague, while its largest city is Rotterdam.

  • 1. AFAS Circustheater Den Haag The Hague
    The AFAS Circustheater is a Dutch theatre in Scheveningen, The Hague. The original theatre was opened on July 16, 1904 by Circus Schumann. Designed by architect Wilhelmus Bernardus van Liefland, the building was as a proper circus in the summer seasons until the 1960s. Animals were transported here by train from Den Haag Hollands Spoor railway station. The circus has also carried the name Circus Strassburger, and after the 1960s functioned as a concert hall. Currently the theatre is property of the company Stage Entertainment, founded by Joop van den Ende, who bought the building for the symbolic amount of 1 guilder off the Municipality of The Hague on the condition that it would be converted into a functioning theatre. It is now mainly in use for big musical productions.

    Nederlands Dans Theater is a Dutch contemporary dance company. NDT is headquartered at the Lucent Danstheater in The Hague. In addition to the Lucent Danstheater, NDT performs at other venues in the Netherlands, including Amsterdam's Het Muziektheater and Nijmegen's Stadsschouwburg.

    The Isala Theater is a modern theater opened in 1999 in Capelle aan den IJssel near Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The theater offers a comprehensive program including music, comedy, drama, musicals, dance and youth programs. It also screens films. The theatre is the main venue where the DPFC dance school puts on semi-professional theater productions, which usually attract full houses. For two days in June 2010 the theatre staged a show by the students of the Havo voor Muziek en Dans called Talent On The Move 2010, featuring choreography by Sara Erens, Jiří Kylián, Adriaan Luteijn, Hans van Manen and Stuart Thom as well as original solos of the fifth graders.

    Het Residentie Orkest is a Dutch orchestra based in The Hague. Its primary venue is the Zuiderstrandtheater . Henri Viotta founded the orchestra in 1904. Its early home was the Gebouw voor Kunsten en Wetenschappen . The orchestra received its first acclaim during the 1911 Richard Strauss Festival, in which the composer himself conducted some of his works. The orchestra soon attracted other composers such as Igor Stravinsky, Max Reger, Maurice Ravel, and Paul Hindemith. In 1915, the Residentie Orchestra took over the summertime performances of the Kurzaal Concerts in Scheveningen from the Lamoureux Orchestra.
