When visiting the famous city New York, most tourists stay directly in the centrum. Only a few European people I know have been in Long Island so far. As I did not want to stay were most of the visitors are, I decided to stay in Long Island during my last trip to the United States.

Petty's Bight, Orient Point, NY

Enter the property through a gorgeous, tree-lined drive way and come upon this waterfront Colonial, which spans an impressive 10 acres. The 4,000 sf home consists of four bedrooms, three full and one half bathrooms, an open living and dining space, an eat-in kitchen and gorgeous views of the Long Island Sound. Also included is a colossal deck, wonderful for entertaining. The 10-acre property, located in Orient, boasts a gracious walkway from the house all the way down to the beach. Take advantage of all that the area has to offer, including water sports, fine dining, vineyards, farm stands and much, much more. This home is a true gem, and a great place to spend a summer.

Old Madurai, South India, in 1945 and now

Madura in Madurai district is one of the oldest cities of India on the Vaigai river. Known for its nine gopura pyramids and many other sites, such as the Meenakshi temple shown here. Compare the loincloth inhabitants with the modern city it has become now!
