Stockholm County is a county or län on the Baltic Sea coast of Sweden. It borders Uppsala County and Södermanland County. It also borders Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. The city of Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. Stockholm County is divided by the historic provinces of Uppland and Södermanland . More than one fifth of the Swedish population lives in the county. Stockholm County is also one of the statistical riksområden according to NUTS:SE, Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics within the EU. With more than two million inhabitants, Stockholm is the most densely populated county of Sweden.

  • 2. Vasaparken Stockholm
    Vasaparken is a park in Stockholm, Sweden, located in Vasastaden and named after the Royal Vasa Dynasty. The park lies between the two squares Odenplan and Sankt Eriksplan. South of the park lies the Sabbatsberg hospital. Vasaparken was established in this area in 19th century and during World War I, the park was used to grow potatoes for the city. The world-famous Swedish children’s book writer Astrid Lindgren lived in a building by the park, and Vasaparken is mentioned in many of her books, and after her death, a corner of the park was renamed in honor of Astrid Lindgren . In 1917, a statue named Arbetaren , by artist Gottfrid Larsson, was erected in the park to honor the Swedish working class. There is also a statue named Romeo and Juliet by artist Olov Thorwald Olsson.

  • 3. Mariatorget Stockholm
    Mariatorget is a square and a city park in Södermalm, Stockholm, constructed at the end of the 1760s. Its original name was Adolf Fredriks torg , but it was renamed Mariatorget in 1959 to avoid confusion with the church and parish of Adolf Fredrikskyrkan in Norrmalm. The modern name alludes to the nearby Maria Magdalena kyrka and the surrounding parish. The square faces the street of Hornsgatan to the north, and the street of S:t Paulsgatan to the south. The street Swedenborgsgatan, named after Emanuel Swedenborg, starts there and continues southwards. A bust of the same Swedenborg is also situated in the park.     Observatorielunden is a park in Stockholm's Vasastaden district. It stretches over the steep hill Observatoriekullen, one of the last remnants of Brunkebergsåsen, the esker that once reached across much of Norrmalm but was mostly levelled during the development of that district. Observatorielunden is bordered by the streets Odengatan to the north, Sveavägen to the east, Kungstensgatan to the south, Drottninggatan to the southwest, and Norrtullsgatan, Sandåsgatan and Gyldéngatan to the west. The Old Stockholm Observatory sits on top of the hill, and Stockholm Public Library and the Stockholm School of Economics' main building lie at its edges.
