Sutton Cheney is a village in Leicestershire, England, close to the location of the Battle of Bosworth. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 538.Sutton Cheney Wharf on the Ashby Canal gives access to the battlefield site. There is a small cafe, operated by 'The Ashby Trip', who specialise in offering narrowboat rides on the canal. Sutton Cheney itself has two old coaching inns– the Royal Arms and the Hercules.     The Battle of Bosworth Field was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the civil war between the Houses of Lancaster and York that extended across England in the latter half of the 15th century. Fought on 22 August 1485, the battle was won by the Lancastrians. Their leader Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, by his victory became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty.
