Alamo Drafthouse Cinema | Movie Inspired Menus
“The Alamo Drafthouse Theater is good food, good beer and good film, all at the same place!”
That’s how we described ourselves in 1997, and that mission hasn’t changed and will never, ever change. For over two decades we’ve worked to make the Alamo Drafthouse experience the best cinematic experience in the world. Here’s how.
The greatest films ever made
We don’t just want to be another multiplex. Everyone who works at Alamo Drafthouse, from the managers to the servers to the kitchen staff, is passionate about film.
To us, the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be just as worthy of attention and celebration as a foreign language drama. Through our Drafthouse Recommends program we've committed ourselves to helping innovative and challenging films like GET OUT, THE FLORIDA PROJECT, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, and THE HANDMAIDEN find an audience.
Celebrating classic cinema is also something we take seriously. Whether it’s an interactive Movie Party presentation of a timeless classic, a chef-inspired feast with a menu paired to a film, or a re-evaluation of a lost gem, we love sharing the movies we love with Alamo Drafthouse audiences of all ages.
Paired with great food and drink
When you see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, you get cold drinks, delicious meals and tasty local beers, brought to your seat by a server. Need a free refill on your popcorn or soda? Raise an order card and we’ll get it taken care of quickly.
Each Alamo Drafthouse location’s menu features burgers, pizzas, salads, snacks and desserts prepared fresh from locally sourced ingredients. Plus, our chefs regularly create special menus inspired by classic cinema and big upcoming blockbusters, like an all-Pakistani menu curated by Kumail Nanjiani for THE BIG SICK or a take on African flavors for BLACK PANTHER.
Beer is our middle name at Alamo Drafthouse, so we make certain that every Alamo Drafthouse location highlights and promotes the best local craft breweries. Our bar staff also loves to innovate, and are constantly mixing up new cocktail creations that’ll elevate the cinematic experience.
And a commitment to exceptional picture and sound
Presentation standards are one of the most important and yet most frequently overlooked aspect of the theatergoing experience. At Alamo Drafthouse we’re obsessed with making sure that each film looks and sounds the best it possibly can, and that means investing in new technology, constant maintenance to make sure our equipment meets our standards, and developing and training the next generation of projectionists.
Our projection teams are vital to the company. Because many classic films are only available on celluloid, the only way they can be seen is on film. That’s why most Alamo Drafthouse locations are fitted with at least one 35mm projector, and several even have widescreen 70mm equipment, the preferred format for visionary filmmakers like Christopher Nolan and Paul Thomas Anderson.

How Alamo Drafthouse is redefining the cinema experience
If you don't already know about the Alamo Drafthouse cinema chain, it could change your view of going to the movies. Alamo Drafthouse is the brainchild of Tim League, a hardcore film buff since high school. It started small almost 20 years ago in Austin, Texas, but has grown into a high-concept theater chain with more than two dozen locations nationwide. Dana Jacobson reports from the newest site in Brooklyn, New York.

Lone Star Scene Bastrop area movie studio enters animated film realm - YNN - Your News Now.mp4
The North Pole sets the scene for a comical crisis in Flight of Magic. It's the first animated short film from Spiderwood Studios which aims to put Central Texas on the map for fully produced animated films.
'Flight of Magic and Spiderwood Studios was the little train that could, literally, out in Bastrop, Texas we started with some buildings and some talent, producer Brian McNulty said.
Spiderwood Studios founder Tommy Warrren calls animation the future of the Texas film, with the potential to unite workers from the gaming industry and motion pictures.
This December, he premiered the 13-minute short film to his cast and crew, who made it on a fraction of the budget used by studios like Pixar and Dreamworks.
We did all of it here and we're still a lot less cost per second. That's the way they price animation. It's just unbelievable the difference what we can do here in Texas, Warren said.
Warren wrote the script, developed the studio's infrastructure and hired a producer with big studio experience in crafting compelling images.
It's the story of a precocious Elf who wants to help Santa by delivering presents faster by having an engine on the back of the sleigh. Now having worked at Pixar what I suggested is we have it play on several levels, McNulty said.
Warren is most proud that every aspect of the film was completed locally, including all design and post-production. The short film earned an Award of Excellence in Animation from The Accolade Competition and Warren believes that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Animation is something I think we can do here in a good way. There's a lot of animators and people who work in animation through gaming so we're able to bounce off of that to make movies. This is our first one and I believe it will be the first of a lot, Warren said.
The future for Flight of Magic could be on television as producers consider making an extended version for TV networks. They'll also look at submitting it to festivals in the coming year.
Warren said his long term goal is to produce entire feature length animated films at his Bastrop-based studios.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding

SUMMARY
=======
William Marsh Rice University, commonly known as Rice University, is a private research university located on a 300-acre (121 ha) campus in Houston, Texas, United States. The university is situated near the Houston Museum District and is adjacent to the Texas Medical Center.
Opened in 1912 after the murder of its namesake William Marsh Rice, Rice is now a research university with an undergraduate focus. Its emphasis on education is demonstrated by a small student body and 6:1 student-faculty ratio, and it has been nationally recognized as a leading university for undergraduate teaching. The university has a very high level of research activity, with $140.2 million in sponsored research funding in 2016. Rice is noted for its applied science programs in the fields of artificial heart research, structural chemical analysis, signal processing, space science, and nanotechnology. It was ranked first in the world in materials science research by the Times Higher Education (THE) in 2010. Rice is a member of the Association of American Universities.
The university is organized into eleven residential colleges and eight schools of academic study, including the Wiess School of Natural Sciences, the George R. Brown School of Engineering, the School of Social Sciences, School of Architecture, Shepherd School of Music and the School of Humanities. Undergraduates select from more than fifty majors and two dozen minors, and have a high level of flexibility in pursuing multiple degree programs. Additional graduate programs are offered through the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business and the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Rice students are bound by the strict Honor Code, which is enforced by a student-run Honor Council.Rice competes in 14 NCAA Division I varsity sports and is a part of Conference USA, often competing with its cross-town rival the University of Houston. Intramural and club sports are offered in a wide variety of activities such as jiu jitsu, water polo, and crew.
The university has produced numerous prominent alumni, including more than two dozen Marshall Scholars and a dozen Rhodes Scholars. Given the university's close links to NASA, it has produced a disproportionate number of astronauts and space scientists. In business, Rice graduates have become CEOs and founders of Fortune 500 companies; in politics, alumni have won positions as congressmen, cabinet secretaries, judges, and mayors. Two alumni have won the Nobel Prize, and numerous others are leading researchers in science, technology, and engineering.
