Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
Egg Harbor Township is a township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 43,323, reflecting an increase of 12,597 (+41.0%) from the 30,726 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 6,182 (+25.2%) from the 24,544 counted in the 1990 Census.
Egg Harbor Township was first mentioned as part of Gloucester County in records dating back to March 20, 1693, and at times was called New Weymouth. The township's western boundary was established on May 13, 1761, with the area called Great Egg-Harbour Township. Portions of the township were taken to form Galloway Township, which was established by Royal charter on April 4, 1774. Additional portions were taken to form Weymouth Township on February 12, 1798. On February 21, 1798, the area was incorporated as Egg-Harbour Township. Over the ensuing centuries, portions of the township were taken to create many new municipalities: Hamilton Township on February 5, 1813; Atlantic City on May 1, 1854; Absecon on May 1, 1854; South Atlantic City (now Margate City) on September 7, 1885; Pleasantville on January 10, 1889; Linwood on February 20, 1889; Somers Point on April 24, 1886; Longport on March 7, 1898; Ventnor City on March 17, 1903; and Northfield on March 21, 1905.

Love Motel - New Jersey Girl (GenX)
The Jersey Incident – Challenging gender stereotypes on the internet.
The lyrics form New Jersey Girl were inspired by the reality show Jersey Shore. The show, criticized for its negative portrayal of Italian-Americans from New Jersey, was the subject of much debate and controversy in the United States. Intrigued by this social phenomenon, I began researching Italian-American women – more commonly known as “Guidettes” – on Google. Elevated to almost legendary status in American subculture, Guidettes are mostly described as girls with an orange complexion (achieved by fake tan), black hair and false nails; they are obsessed with their appearance and are heavy consumers of both alcohol and men.
Drawing on this raw material of stereotypes, I came up with the words for a future title inspired by the cut-up techniques of Burroughs and Kerouac (they are not Youtubers! just Google them). A few months later, I added music to these lyrics and New Jersey Girl was born from this mind-blowing exploration into the depths of the (predominantly male) collective American unconscious.
The 2 video clips from The Jersey Incident project are meant to challenge in a more global way stereotypes that women are experiencing each day on the internet. I wanted to put images of women filmed today and more than 70 years ago into perspective.
On the one hand, uninhibited GenX girls who film themselves at home and allow us into the raw intimacy of a bedroom, lounge or basement (this video clip). On the other, women who seem to perfectly play the multiple roles assigned to them in the 1950s: future housewife, well-behaved and polished student, beauty queen for a night, dancer or stripper (the other video clip : The contrast is obvious and striking and reveals the emancipation of the current generation compared to that of their ancestors.
But what about the status of these new 2.0 celebrities who instinctively exploit social networks as a new form of self marketing in real time but whose success can be as dazzling as ephemeral? Are they really free from the stereotypes foisted on them for millennia by our patriarchal society? The answer is obviously not univocal.
But one key element has changed. In the 1950s archive footage, the women dancing or undressing are being filmed by men for men. Today, new technology has totally reversed this relationship with the production of images: the women are filming themselves with just a smartphone. They have taken control of their image and are entirely independent as to how they use it.
They become actresses who narrate their lives according to their own desires. This also marks the end of a monopoly on the diffusion of images in the public sphere once reserved for media industry, which reflected an image of a mostly heteronormal woman – white, young, tall and slim.

Edison's Genius (New Jersey) - Dr. Lodge McCammon's #50StatesAlbum
Download the mp3, lyrics and additional materials from Discovery Education Streaming
50 States Album: A 50-song album covering the basic history, geography, and economic structure of each state in the U.S.
1st Verse:
New Netherlands explored and settled by the Dutch
British took over in a rush handing it over to friends
Now New Jersey, split into east and west
Half to Sir Carteret, half to Lord Berkeley
Oh, both halves unite
To make a royal colony, one of the Original 13
Against the British for independence we fight
Then ratify the 3rd state by the sea
Explanation of the 1st Verse:
In the early 1600s the Dutch explored and settled in what is now New Jersey (NJ). They named it New Netherlands.
In 1664 the British took control of New Netherlands and renamed it New Jersey, after the isle of Jersey off the coast of England.
King Charles II gave NJ to his brother, The Duke of York. The Duke of York granted the NJ Province to two of his friends - Sir George Carteret and Lord John Berkeley.
In 1676 Lord Berkeley sold his half of NJ to the Quakers because he was finding it difficult to collect money from the early settlers. NJ was split in half, east and west.
In 1702 the two halves were united and NJ became a Royal Colony.
NJ signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and played a large role in the Revolutionary War.
In 1787 NJ was the 3rd to ratify the new Constitution - making it the 3rd state in the U.S.
Chorus:
Stop the New Jersey Line War
Our northern boundary is fixed
Then Washington crossed the Delaware
To beat the British
Crossroads of the revolution, we are incandescent
How do we make this Garden State glow?
Edison's genius
Explanation of the Chorus:
From 1701-1765 NJ was involved in the New York-New Jersey Line War. This was a series of skirmishes that happened because of the undefined border in the north between NY and NJ. This was mitigated by the fact that NJ was ruled by New York from 1708-1738. In 1765 Britain defined the northern border of NJ.
NJ is considered to be the Crossroads of the Revolution because of the strategic role the area played. NJ was the site of major battles such as Trenton and Princeton, it was the Revolutionary Army's winter quarters, and it was the destination of Washington in the famous painting of his crossing the Delaware River.
In 1879 the commercially viable incandescent light bulb illuminated NJ. Thomas Edison was the one who designed the first commercially sold bulb.
Edison was one of the many genius industrialists that caused the rapid growth of NJ.
The nickname of NJ is the Garden State.
Edison's famous quote: Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. This is particularly fitting to him because he didn't invent the lightbulb, but worked hard toward creating a commercially viable version of it....this incandescent light changed the world.
2nd Verse:
Will Paterson said we are small but great
Equal votes per state? Yeah, a New Jersey Plan
This upper house, represents our valley and ridge
From the northern Mountains and High Point, kids
South to the old mines and highlands
Then to the piedmont smooth with sediments
Oh, two coastal plains
Give us our beaches and our garden name
Explanation of the 2nd Verse:
Bridge:
Liberty and prosperity
From Trenton on the Delaware River to the sea
Common violet, goldfinch and red oak are free
To thrive from Atlantic City to Princeton, Princeton
Explanation of the Bridge:
3rd Verse:
Crops grow 'til our industrial revolution
Then we cradled this solution - brought us Standard Oil
Started with silk, textiles and railroad equipment
Colt's firearms patent, much less variable
Edison's lab at Menlo Park
Commercial filament here to light the dark
Oh, for the World Wars
We manufactured battleships and destroyers
Explanation of the 3rd Verse:

The Kalb Report - Putin’s Trump Card
Russia's meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election may be just the tip of the iceberg for a former world power that is dealing with a crumbling economy and diminished reputation on the world stage.
With Vladimir Putin’s reelection to another six-year term as president, what is the Russian leader's end game? Is Moscow trying to destabilize democracies around the world, including the mid-term elections in the U.S., in order to bolster its own self-importance? And what role is the Trump administration wittingly or unwittingly playing in Putin's plans.
On April 16, 2018, at the National Press Club, New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker, Brookings Institution President Gen. John Allen, NPR All Things Considered host Mary Louise Kelly and American Enterprise Institute Scholar Leon Aron joined moderator Marvin Kalb to discuss Russia, Putin and his possible trump card.
Bob Bradley blazes a trail for U.S. soccer in Premier League, but he could get burned
Bob Bradley blazes a trail for U.S. soccer in Premier League, but he could get burned
Bob Bradley’s appointment by Swansea as the first American manager in the English Premier League has been greeted with jubilation by the U.S soccer community but the coach himself faces a tricky task in stabilizing a club that is in danger of decline.
The excitement that has greeted Bradley’s new job reflects a sense of self-validation for an American soccer community that appears to crave respect from British soccer. It also gives Americans watching the Premier League on weekend mornings a closer sense of involvement.
There is a sense, certainly in the U.S., that Bradley deserves this opportunity after his decades of work in the game during which he has traveled the world, and he has certainly made no secret of his desire to test himself at the highest level. There is also a hope that if Bradley is a success, the door might open for other American coaches elsewhere in Europe.
In Swansea, though, Bradley’s appointment has been received with a mixture of disdain, disappointment and, at best, caution. Judging from the many messages on online fan forums, Bradley’s first task will be to win over supporters whose discontent appears to be more focused on the club’s American owners, Steve Kaplan and D.C. United managing general partner Jason Levien, than the coach himself.
Bradley’s predecessor, experienced Italian coach Francesco Guidolin, stepped in midway through last season and succeeded in keeping the club in the top flight. He lasted only only seven games into this campaign before being fired with the team in 17th place in the 20-team league. It looks, even by the standards of impatience of Premier League owners, a harsh decision.
Swansea’s early season schedule has seen it play Chelsea, Manchester City, champion Leicester and Liverpool, games in which it would not be expected to pick up many points. With reports circulating that Guidolin was about to be fired, Swansea fans supportively sang his name during Saturday’s home loss to Liverpool.
But what has upset many supporters of the South Wales club was the manner in which Guidolin was dismissed. It was reported that meetings took place last week with Bradley while the Italian was still in his position. While it is not unusual for clubs to conduct the early stages of a job search before making a switch, such information is rarely made public out of respect for the incumbent.
Swansea is an unusual club in that the fans hold 21 percent of the club’s shares. The Swansea City Supporters Trust played a key role in keeping the club alive during the early 2000s when it faced the real danger of going out of business, and its members have reacted angrily to being kept in the dark about the change of manager.
“We are saddened that decisions as major as this can be taken without our involvement, despite earlier assurances from the new majority shareholders that they wished to work closely with the Supporters’ Trust,” the group said in a statement, adding that it was “frustrated and angry” about the way Guidolin was dismissed. The statement, notably, made no mention of Bradley.
For the average fan, of Swansea or other teams in the Premier League, Bradley is relatively unknown. Many will know him for little more than his stint as head coach of the U.S. men’s national team given that in the 2010 World Cup, Bradley’s team drew 1-1 with England in the group stage before being knocked out by Ghana in the round of 16. But that was six years ago.
Since then, the New Jersey native has coached the Egyptian national team, earning respect for living in Cairo during the turbulence of the Arab Spring, and then qualified Norwegian club Stabaek to the Europa League. Bradley was then hired by another American-owned club, La Havre of the French second division, and nearly led it to the top flight last season.
The Premier League is host to some of the best, most accomplished coaches in the world; inevitably some are unimpressed by achievements in Norway and the French second tier and who question whether Bradley has what it takes. But Bradley owns a resume — and more so a life story — worthy of respect. Those who have followed his career see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to cope with the pressure and the tactical challenges of the world’s most competitive and high-profile championship.
Bradley, 58, may not have given a great deal away to those of us who covered his time as national team coach, but what was always clear was his intense attention to detail and dedication to preparation and organization. Even before he began working abroad, he was traveling to places like Milan to study coaches and their methods.
“Bob is extraordinarily intelligent about the game, his work ethics is second to none, and the way he manages teams and deals with people are all outstanding,” U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati told the Associated Press.
Impeachment trial of President Trump | Jan. 27, 2020 (FULL LIVE STREAM)
The House managers wrapped up their arguments against President Trump on Jan. 24. Trump’s team, including lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, now has 24 hours to present their case. After Trump’s lawyers conclude their presentation, senators will have an opportunity to submit questions to both sides in writing. Following that, debate will turn to whether to call witnesses and subpoena documents.
Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.
