Bainbridge Ferry [Seattle to Bainbridge Island] Drive Washington 4K USA
4K UHD Ferry Ride - Bainbridge Island WA - Seattle Day Trip - Kitsap Peninsula
Drive on to the Bainbridge Island ferry from the Colman dock terminal at the downtown Seattle waterfront. We take a ride aboard the Washington State Ferry System. This is the most popular ferry route in the western United States. Bainbridge locals refer to the ferry as 'the boat' and thousands of passengers walk/bike/drive aboard to commute to Seattle daily.
The regular ferry was out of service on the day we traveled. This smaller boat is the WSF M/V Walla Walla. It was constructed in 1973 and rebuilt in 2003. It is a Jumbo class ferry that regularly serves the Seattle to Bremerton route. It can carry 188 vehicles and 2,000 passengers.
The Seattle terminal is also in the process of being rebuilt and much construction can be seen from the ferry waiting area.
We hope you enjoy!

The Seattle–Bremerton ferry is a ferry route across Puget Sound between Seattle and Bremerton, Washington. Since 1951, the route has primarily been operated by the state-run Washington State Ferries system, currently the largest ferry system in the United States. Kitsap Transit also runs passenger-only fast ferries service on the route.
The Seattle–Bremerton ferry route was once known as the Navy Yard route. Before ferry service, the route was served by steamships and steamboats, such as the Inland Flyer. The sternwheeler Bailey Gatzert, once considered one of the most prestigious vessels to operate on Puget Sound and the Columbia River, was converted to an automobile ferry and as such became the first ferry to run on the Seattle-Bremerton route. Another vessel to run on the route was the unique streamlined ferry Kalakala.
From 1986 to 2002, Washington State Ferries operated passenger-only service on the Bremerton route using specialized high-speed boats. After the service was cancelled, Kitsap Transit contracted with private companies to operate a similar service for several years, and later debuted its own service, Kitsap Fast Ferries, on July 10, 2017.
The route from Seattle departs from the Washington State Ferry Terminal on the central Seattle waterfront. Assigned to the route as of July 2017 were the Super-class ferry Kaleetan and Olympic Class ferry Chimacum
Seattle Ferry Ride to Bainbridge Island
Riding the Washington State Ferries from Seattle to Bainbridge Island is one of the most scenic and affordable day excursions. Not only do you get amazing views of the Seattle skyline, but Bainbridge Island is also very pleasant to walk around.
The trip takes just thirty-five minutes. The round-trip fare for adult passengers is just $8.50 (2019). It's a great alternative to a Seattle Harbour Cruise! You can take your vehicle if you wish. However, the town centre on Bainbridge Island is within walking distance of the ferry terminal.
There are two routes operating from Seattle Ferry Terminal to Bremerton and Bainbridge Island. The route from Seattle to Bainbridge Island is the busiest in the Washington State Ferry network with 6.4 million passengers annually.
The Seattle to Bainbridge Island route is operated by the MV Tacoma and the MV Wenatchee. They are both classified as Jumbo Mark II class vessels, the largest in the WSF fleet. Each is capable of carrying up to 2,500 passengers and 202 vehicles at a speed of 18 knots. They are also the second longest double-ended ferries in the world, built between 1997-1999 at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle.
One amenity that I truly enjoy aboard the Washington State Ferries is the on-board galley and cafeteria, which serves up popular Washington State products including:
-Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream
-Tim's Cascade Style Chips
-Ivar's Acres of Clams Chowder
-Beecher's Mac and Cheese
-Whidbey Island Ice Cream Bars
Overall, the Washington State Ferries operate 10 routes serving 20 points around Puget Sound and Canada. It is the largest ferry system in the United States and fourth-largest in the world with a fleet of 23 vessels carrying 24 million passengers annually.
Enjoy your Bainbridge Island Day Trip! It is without a doubt one of the most popular day trips from Seattle. The Seattle Ferry Terminal is located at 801 Alaskan Way. Be sure to take advantage of the Seattle Free Waterfront Shuttle service that offers a stop within walking distance of the ferry terminal.

INFO ABOUT THE FERRY
Schedule:
Ticket information:
I… like boats. I’ve always had a connection with them throughout my life. There’s just something special about traveling through water.
Today, my friends and I decided to go to Bainbridge island. It’s located near Seattle and the most popular way of getting there is via ferry.
Bainbridge island is a beautiful area to go to. While Close to the city, this area still harbors beautiful scenery and diversity. It’s super close to Seattle too. The ferry ride is only 8.6 miles long and it takes around 30 - 35 minutes. I recommend coming at least 30 minutes before departure. You can park your car in rows, which helps the staff organize the cars in the ferry.
Did I mention that? You can drive into the boat and take your car across the water. Warning. I recommend buying the round trip! It saves you hassle in the future. And I’m sure you don’t want to be driving back to Seattle by only land.
It’s quite spacious in the inside. You climb up 1 or 2 flights of stairs to get to the lobby. There are windowed booths everywhere. But why stay inside?
My favorite part about being on the ferry is goofing off with my friends above the deck, where you’re greeted with high blowing winds.
These ferries are huge. They can carry up to 2,500 passengers and up to 202 vehicles.
Many locals don’t know this but this ferry system is the largest in the US, maybe it’s because there aren’t many other parts in the US where ferry is necessary. Every year, there is at least 6,000,000 people who ride the ferry.

Day 270 of 365 Things To Do In Edmonds, WA - Washington State Ferry
Early Ferry Service - Washington State Ferries came into existence with the state's buyout of Puget Sound Navigation in 1951. Ferry service around Puget Sound has changed tremendously over the course of the last century.
The ferry system was originally intended to provide temporary service until a network of bridges could be built connecting the west and east sides of Puget Sound. In 1959, however, the legislature rejected the plan to build numerous cross sound bridges. At that time, the responsibility for managing the ferry system was shared by the Toll Bridge Authority and the State Highway Commission.
WSF Today
WSF is the largest ferry system in the United States, serving eight counties within Washington and the Province of British Columbia in Canada. Counties served include Pierce, King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Skagit, Island, San Juan, and Jefferson Counties. WSF's existing system has 10 routes and 20 terminals that are served by 28 vessels.

Seattle, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia - Amtrak Cascades Interior HD (2014)
The Amtrak Cascades is a passenger train route operated by Amtrak in partnership with the Washington State and Oregon Departments of Transportation in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. It is named after the Cascade mountain range that the route parallels.
The corridor runs 156 miles (251 km) from Vancouver, British Columbia south to Seattle, Washington, continuing 310 miles (500 km) south via Portland, Oregon to Eugene, Oregon. Two daily trains travel to and from Vancouver, with Seattle or Portland as its starting or ending point; supplemental Thruway Motorcoach service connects travelers from Vancouver, BC to trains heading south from Seattle, as well as providing additional service between Portland and Eugene, and connections to other Amtrak Thruway destinations in Washington and Oregon. The second daily service between Seattle and Vancouver, BC started on August 19, 2009. As of December 2011 four trains run daily between Seattle and Portland, with two of those providing service to Eugene.
Cascades is Amtrak's eighth-busiest route, and it carries the most passengers of any of the railroad's services outside of the Northeastern U.S. or California. Total ridership for 2011 was over 850,000. During FY2011, the service had a total revenue of $30,025,126, an 8.9% increase over FY2010. Farebox recovery for the train has also increased from 48% in 2008 to 72% in 2010.

Last Voyage aboard the Princess Marguerite II
In the days when the SS Princess Marguerite II still sailed between Victoria B.C. and Seattle in Washington State, I took what would be my one and only voyage on this stately vessel from another age. The ship included special features found on opulent ocean liners, including a grande staircase, ballroom, formal dining room, cocktail lounge, spacious and comfortable lounges, wide promenade decks, and private staterooms. She could accommodate 2,000 passengers and up to 60 vehicles on her car deck. Sadly In 1989 the Princess Marguerite II, by then the last of the coastal steamers, was withdrawn from service. As scrap she was valued at $750,000.
Wings Over Washington - Flying Ride // Review // Seattle, WA
Wings Over Washington is Seattle's newest tourist attraction. This is our review of the flying ride. It's said to be virtual reality but it is more like a 4D immersive theater. You are strapped into a row of seats which move to simulate a flying motion as you're watching a screen of iconic scenes of Washington state. It's a fun ride and it's family friendly! Our only complaint is that the ride is a bit short for the amount of money they charge. Excluding the introduction at the beginning the ride lasts about 10 minutes.

The MV Chinook arriving in Victoria in about 1947 and then scenes from the outward bound voyage
The Chinook was ordered by the Black Ball Line (aka The Puget Sound Navigation Company) right after the war. Captain Peabody of the line was looking for a modern ship to serve in the Seattle-Port Angles-Victoria run.
The ship was designed by William Francis Gibbs who would later design the SS United States and SS America.
Ship was built in Seattle at the Todd Shipyard in Seattle.
She could carry 100 cars and had staterooms to match. She was a very popular addition to the fleet but this did not stop the problems for the Black Ball Line and in 1951 Peabody lost control of his ships serving intra Washington state routes. He retained five ships, one of them was the Chinook. The Chinook continued the Port Angles to Victoria route til 1954.
Black Ball moved the ferry to the Horseshow Bay to Nanaimo route. She remained on that route till 1963 even after the 1961 nationalization of the Black Ball line by the Socreds
She was renamed the Sechelt Queen in 1963 and was moved to many runs over the next 13 years before being transferred to the Ministry of Highways and used on the Comox to Powell River run.
She remained in service till June 1982. She then remained in an odd limbo of possible projects until she was broken up in about 2001.
