From Apalachicola to tallahassee through the Apalachicola national forest.
Coastal Overland sets out to explore the Apalachicola national forest by traversing forest roads from Apalachicola to tallahassee. With 60+ miles of trails logged, we had plenty to explore. Stopped my St Joe beach and St george island before entering the forest. It was a great ride with plenty of mud amd water on the trail due to the tropical storm that had passed days before. HOPE YOU ENJOY #COASTALOVERLAND

I hike in the forest with my five beloved dogs every opportunity that I can, focusing on places where they can run free, swim and explore the enticing scents and sounds the forest has to offer. Herping the Apalachicola National Forest
We searched high and low for 5 days straight. After exhausting ourselves, and not finding our target species (alive), it's safe to say that this place has one of the highest densities of Pygmy Rattlesnakes in the southeast region.
Driving around Tallahassee, Florida
Tallahassee has an area of 98.2 square miles (254.3 km2), of which 95.7 square miles (247.9 km2) is land and 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2) (2.59%) is water.
Tallahassee's terrain is hilly by Florida standards, being at the southern end of the Red Hills Region, just above the Cody Scarp. The elevation varies from near sea level to just over 200 feet (61 m), with the state capitol on one of the highest hills in the city. The city includes two large lake basins, Lake Jackson and Lake Lafayette, and borders the northern end of the Apalachicola National Forest.
The flora and fauna are similar to those found in the mid-south and low country regions of South Carolina and Georgia. The palm trees are the more cold-hardy varieties like the state tree, the Sabal palmetto. Pines, magnolias, hickories, and a variety of oaks are the dominant trees. The Southern Live Oak is perhaps the most emblematic of the city.

These trails haven't been traveled in a few years. It looks like the forest has almost reclaimed them.
