Bill VanEenenaam, Brewers Choice Beer - Wild Bill's Octuple IPA
So I hear you like hops? We call this an Octuple IPA because it sounds about as ridiculous as this beer is. Among the hops in this beer, you could make a solid IPA with 1/8 of the hops that are in this monster. With over 10Lbs of hops per barrel and more than a dozen different hops this beer is one huge hop bomb. It has a pleasant citrus and fruity aroma with a piney slightly sweet flavor. Try some at your own risk.

Heavy Seas Barrel-Aged Beers Vertical Review
So is there a barrel-aged beer for all seasons? Well, our friends at Heavy Seas seem to think so! In 2019 they released a barrel-aged beer in each season, starting in late winter early spring Blackbeard's Breakfast, an imperial coffee porter was released. In the summer, Red Flag, a Flemish Red was released. In the fall, their popular Greater Pumpkin was release and just this past week for the wintertime, Siren Noire an imperial chocolate stout was released. All four were barrel-aged and we decided November was the perfect month to do a vertical tasting! Which did we like the best? Watch the entire video to find out and the results may surprise you! Cheers!

Apr 12 : Farmhouse Pale & Summer 2010 : Almanac Beer Co.
This week, we drink a selection of fantastic beers from Almanac Beer Co, a small brewery out of San Francisco that is all about local sustainability and great beer! We start off with the 2011 Farmhouse Pale, brewed with plums and then after Master Pairings we jump into the 2010 Summer ale.
We got these great beers from Mike Sardina (@msardina) who is awesome, so we thank him.
John is all backwards, Stephen is full of phlegm, and Matt is actually conscience this week!
We QR code the show .. which will take you to a special episode that is un-released.
On Master Pairings, Matt finally joins Bill in the kitchen, and Bill pairs a delicious Chicken & Dumplings paired with the classic Belgian Golden, Duvel.
After Master Pairings we drink the 2010 Summer ale with Blackberries aged in red wine barrels. Matt is excited, but eventually pulls the ripcord, Stephen knows how to read labels, and John demands that no one jump to any conclusions!

Toppling Goliath Brewing Company / Tree House Brewing Company: David - What Cheers! Review #092
Hi friends. In this new review my arm cast is finally off and we take a look at the Midwest version of David...the mighty epic collaboration between Toppling Goliath Brewing Co. & Tree House Brewing Co.
The kind and generous Michael Saboe had sent me this beer to share with my folks, unknowing of the crash, and I was going to surprise my Mom with it. The night I arrived back home from the hospital, this beer was waiting for me in a box outside my apartment. I was able to share the other bottle with my Dad first before reviewing this one. A very special brew indeed. Thanks Mike. Cheers everyone.
-Nick
Midwest meets the East Coast! Our friends from Massachusetts Tree House Brewing Company embarked on a twenty hour, 1,200 mile journey across the central United States to collaborate with us on this super hop-saturated Double IPA. We merged a grist of Pale and Caramel malts with a very liberal dose of Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops to produce a soft but extremely potent creation. Your nose will be greeted with aromas of bright citrus and tropical fruits before a sip unlocks a flavor much like biting into a ripe juicy orange. A complex bounty of hoppy/fruity flavors continue as a clean citrus bitterness balances things out propelled by tight carbonation and a luxurious mouthfeel. We find David to be absolutely delightful. . . the product of our respective brewer's dedication to an uncompromising, delicious product. David is fleeting and ephemeral, so enjoy him fresh with a friend and forget about life for a while.

Uinta Brewing Company embarked upon its mission of brewing world class, full-flavored, craft-brewed beer in the winter of 1993. From a small, renovated mechanic's garage located in Salt Lake City, Uinta began distributing a tasty variety of beer ranging from 4.0% to over 10% alcohol by volume to local bars, restaurants, and liquor stores. Demand escalated, resulting in the installation of a bottling line in 1996. Then, in 2001, having outgrown its original building,
Uinta Brewing is named after an east-west mountain range located in northeastern Utah. Many of Uinta's beer names are inspired by Utah's diverse landscapes or have historical significance. Cutthroat Pale Ale, Uinta's flagship beer, is named after Utah's state fish. Subsequent beer names followed suit, such as King's Peak Porter, named after Utah's highest peak, Golden Spike Hefeweizen, named after the spike used to commemorate the completion of the transcontinental railroad in Utah, and Dubhe, named after the Utah Centennial star.
In desire of creating a different experience in beer, Uinta launched its Crooked Line in 2010. These beers were dubbed big beers both in taste, alcohol content and size of bottle. Crooked Line beers are packaged in 750 ml bottles and are cork finished. Ranging from 9 to over 13% alcohol by volume, the intention was that these beers would be shared, as one would a bottle of wine, with friends and paired with food. Some beers are aged in oak, whiskey or bourbon barrels for up to six months prior to reaching the market. Knowing that each beer was quite different from the next, it was essential that each brew showcased its individuality outside the bottle as well. Uinta sought the talents of local artists to design the labels, assuring that each style was unique in packaging as well as in style and taste.
The launch of the Crooked Line was quickly followed by the grand opening of the Little Big Beer Store—an on-site store selling higher alcohol content beers—refrigerated! Uinta Brewing spent most of 2010-2011 going through a massive redesign of its logo, labels, all packaging and its bottle. The process enabled Uinta to clearly organize and define three lines of beers under the Uinta Family: The Classic Line, Organic Line and Crooked Line.
Uinta designed a custom, proprietary 12 ounce bottle as part of the redesign project. Referred to as the compass bottle, the new bottle shape is branded by a 360-degree compass embossed into the bottle's shoulder. The upshot? You'll never get lost with a Uinta bottle in hand! Naturally, adopting the custom-shaped bottle gave rise to the need for a substantial investment in new bottling line equipment.
The redesigned logo embodies the uniqueness of the company's namesake, the Uinta Mountains. A compass is integrated into the logo with the needle pointing East-West, referencing the only major range facing East-West in the continental U.S.. The compass also speaks to Uinta's sense of exploration and direction as Uinta consistently strives to brew the best beer possible. Earth, Wind and Beer remains part of the logo referring to Uinta's long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship. A separate renewable energy logo has been added to packaging as Uinta Brewing has become both wind and solar powered!
Since 2001 Uinta Brewing has been 100% wind-powered, becoming the first Utah company to reach this mark. In an effort to continue its commitment to using renewable resources, Uinta Brewing installed solar-electric paneling on the brewery's roof in 2011.
Uinta is committed to brewing world-class beer using the best practices and ingredients. Uinta Brewing Company is also proud to be an OU Kosher certified company producing kosher certified products.
Uinta Brewing is a proud Utah company serving world class beers to good people in better ways.
The Iron Fist Brewing Company Story: Producing California's Finest Brew
Watch how this family-run business is leading the way in the craft brewing industry in San Diego.
California Produces More Craft Beer Than Any Other State
California Produces More Craft Beer Than Any Other State
Craft beer lovers can raise a glass and cheers to this, according to new data from the California Craft Brewer’s Association (CCBA), California’s economy benefitted from the craft beer industry’s contribution. The industry saw an 18 percent increase in 2014 from 2013 stats.
That means that California’s craft beer industry is creating a higher economic impact than in any other state in the nation. The beer is flowing and strengthening the California economy. The $6.5 billion figure the industry quotes is likely going to be even higher when new data comes out in June.
In California, there are about 520 breweries producing 3.5 billion barrels of beer. I can hear the bottles clinking now. That’s a growth spurt of about 24 percent in 2014. California ranks behind only Colorado and Pennsylvania for exporting beer but California craft brewers are still exporting quite a bit, 1.3 million barrels in 2014.
This all adds up to more money for the state. In 2014, state and federal excise taxes paid by craft brewers totaled $56 million and more than $1.3 billion in income and other local, state, and federal taxes.
In San Diego, alone, there are more than 100 craft breweries. The scene is growing and trying to keep pace with the thirsty craft-beer-lover demand.
The “golden state” is taking on a new meaning; it’s found liquid gold. And, it all began not that long ago. According to the CCBA, Fritz Maytag bought into the then ailing Anchor Brewery (which was on the verge of going out of business in 1965). Maytag began brewing flavorful beer and introducing “lost styles”.
CCBA writes on its Website, “His Anchor Brewery became the first “craft” brewery since prohibition and was the inspiration that sparked a revolution in brewing.”
Maytag was the only brewer until Jack McAuliffe built the then first modern microbrewery in America, New Albion Brewery, and began brewing in 1977 in Sonoma, California.
The rest, as they say, is history.
In San Diego, one local, family-run brewery is growing a community of loyal fans. Iron Fist Brewing Company started out as a hobby and stovetop brewing. Today, it’s “iron fist” brew is a favorite for many.
Watch the video to hear how it all began and find out where the next Iron Fist Brewing location is opening in the summer of 2015.

Serpent, Creating New Beer Boundaries. A Thornbridge, Brooklyn Brewery Collaboration
Serpent is the first beer of its kind, and one of the coolest things either brewery has ever done.
We went to Oliver’s Cider in Hereford seeking their lees, the natural wild yeasts that ferment their apples into great traditional ciders. We brewed a robust Belgian-inspired golden ale at Thornbridge, added the lees in barrels, aged the beer for more than a year, and bottle conditioned it.
Now Serpent emerges dry, tart, firm, fine and funky, a full expression of our friendship, great British brewing, American Boldness, and Herefordshire countryside.

Moksa Pastry Method Beer Review

Catch Carri Invterviews Breckenridge Brewery
Find an adventure at catchcarri.com
Denver's largest craft brewery is making moves. Breckenridge Brewery opened in 1990 producing about 3,000 barrels a year. Then jumping to 41,000 barrels in 2011, to meet the demand. The brewery still can't keep up and has ordered four additional 300 barrel tanks. The brewery is also rocking around the clock with 24 hour shifts to supply Colorado and 31 other states with their brew.
As the name implies the Brewery started in Breckenridge, CO. Founder, Richard Squire, was a ski bum with more than love for the slopes. He listened to his instinct and opened up Colorado's third craft brewery in 1990. In two short years he had already outgrown the mountain town and added a Denver location to produce the beer. As luck would have it, the Breckenridge Ballpark Pub staked its spot before Coors Field claimed turf across the street. As Kevin Costner once said, If you build it they will come. Shoeless Joe Jackson hasn't been seen at the brewery, but this prime spot is perfect for those who love watching baseball with their hands wrapped around a quality beer. In 1996, production moved to 471 Kalamath when the time came to grow again. The quaint tasting room has enough seats for 50 people, offers a full bar and smoked B-B-Q.
With the explosion of so many craft breweries in Denver, Breckenridge Brewery says the industry is more about collaboration than competition. We are all friends. We see each other at festivals and try each other's beer. We even borrow equipment on occasion; it's a community, says P.R. Manager Terry Usry. Her husband, Todd Usry has been brewmaster since the brewery's early days in Denver.
The quality of the beer has kept this place tops. The Oatmeal Stout and Avalanche are two beers still on the mainline from 1990. There are also small batch, seasonal and barrel aged beers to choose from. One of the top sellers is Vanilla Porter and is made with vanilla beans from Paupau New Guinea and Madagascar. The '72 Imperial is an Imperial Chocolate Cream Stout with chocolate from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Durango. There is also the Agave Wheat brewed with agave nectar from Madhava Natural Sweeteners in Longmont, CO.
To get a taste or a full pint check out the taproom at 471 Kalamath. If you want a behind the scenes look head in for a free tour. They are offered every Saturday every hour from 2:00- 5:00. You will even get a free pint.
How to Prepare a New Barrel Before Use
