Crater Lake National Park Castle Crest trail
We went on the trail despite it not being officially open due to the snow not being melted completely. No wildflowers but the streams were beautiful and the sounds of nature were abundant.

SUMMARY
=======
Crater Lake National Park is an American national park located in southern Oregon. Established in 1902, Crater Lake is the fifth-oldest national park in the United States and the only national park in Oregon. The park encompasses the caldera of Crater Lake, a remnant of a destroyed volcano, Mount Mazama, and the surrounding hills and forests.
The lake is 1,949 feet (594 m) deep at its deepest point, which makes it the deepest lake in the United States, the second-deepest in North America and the ninth-deepest in the world. Crater Lake is often referred to as the seventh-deepest lake in the world, but this former listing excludes the approximately 3,000-foot (910 m) depth of subglacial Lake Vostok in Antarctica, which resides under nearly 13,000 feet (4,000 m) of ice, and the recent report of a 2,740-foot (840 m) maximum depth for Lake O'Higgins/San Martin, located on the border of Chile and Argentina. However, when comparing its average depth of 1,148 feet (350 m) to the average depth of other deep lakes, Crater Lake becomes the deepest in the Western Hemisphere and the third-deepest in the world. The impressive average depth of this volcanic lake is due to the nearly symmetrical 4,000-foot-deep (1,200 m) caldera formed 7,700 years ago during the violent climactic eruptions and subsequent collapse of Mount Mazama and the relatively moist climate that is typical of the crest of the Cascade Range.
The caldera rim ranges in elevation from 7,000 to 8,000 feet (2,100 to 2,400 m). The United States Geological Survey benchmarked elevation of the lake surface is 6,178 feet (1,883 m). The national park encompasses 183,224 acres (286.3 sq mi; 741.5 km2). Crater Lake has no streams flowing into or out of it. All water that enters the lake is eventually lost from evaporation or subsurface seepage. The lake's water commonly has a striking blue hue, and the lake is refilled entirely from direct precipitation in the form of snow and rain.
Oregon Waterfall. Organics. Plaikni falls
This episode documents our adventure to see the beautiful Plaikni Falls, located in Crater Lake National Forest. This is absolutely one of my favorite places thus far because of the beautiful wildflowers, stone steps and of course the flawless Plaikni Waterfall.

MOUNT HOOD NATIONAL FOREST USA
Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge symbolize the natural beauty of Oregon, yet much of these amazing landscapes remain unprotected. The mountain's high-elevation snowfields have received Wilderness designation, but the more biologically diverse lower flanks and surrounding ridges remain unprotected. Through cutting-edge technology and the efforts of more than 500 volunteers, Oregon Wild has identified unprotected natural areas in the Mount Hood National Forest over the past decade and sought federal Wilderness designation to preserve them.
In January 2009, Oregon Senators Ron Wyden (D) and Jeff Merkley (D) introduced legislation that would give Wilderness protection to 127,000 acres and designate 80 miles of rivers around Mount Hood and in the Columbia Gorge as Wild and Scenic Rivers.
The compromise plan includes the scenic canyons along White River, the biologically diverse forests of Fifteenmile Creek, the old-growth forest surrounding Roaring River and the beautiful whitewater of the East Fork of the Hood River.
The Lewis and Clark Mount Hood Wilderness is an important step toward preserving the scenic beauty, biodiversity, clean drinking water and unparalleled recreational opportunities for future generations of Oregonians.

King Castle Trail up to Castle Rock-
On May 9, 2017 my friend Randi and I went up the King Castle trail 6 miles to the top of Castle Rock. This hike is located only 50 miles east of Eugene. From the top of Castle Rock you can see the Three Sisters, Black Crater and Mt. Washington.

The Rogue River (River)
The Rogue River begins at Boundary Springs on the border between Klamath and Douglas counties near the northern edge of Crater Lake National Park. Although it changes direction many times, it flows generally west for 215 miles (346 km) from the Cascade Range through the Rogue River – Siskiyou National Forest and the Klamath Mountains to the Pacific Ocean at Gold Beach. Communities along its course include Union Creek, Prospect, Trail, Shady Cove, Gold Hill, and Rogue River, all in Jackson County; Grants Pass, and Galice in Josephine County, and Agness, Wedderburn, and Gold Beach in Curry County. Significant tributaries include the South Fork Rogue River, Elk Creek, Bear Creek, the Applegate River, and the Illinois River.[8] Arising at 5,320 feet (1,622 m) above sea level, the river loses more than 1 mile (1.6 km) in elevation by the time it reaches the Pacific.[3][2]
It was one of the original eight rivers named in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968, which included 84 miles (135 km) of the Rogue, from 7 miles (11.3 km) west of Grants Pass to 11 miles (18 km) east of the mouth at Gold Beach.[9] In 1988, an additional 40 miles (64 km) of the Rogue between Crater Lake National Park and the unincorporated community of Prospect was named Wild and Scenic.[10] Of the river's total length, 124 miles (200 km), about 58 percent is Wild and Scenic.[9][10] The Rogue is one of only three rivers that start in or east of the Cascade Range in Oregon and reach the Pacific Ocean.[11] The others are the Umpqua River and Klamath River. These three Southern Oregon rivers drain mountains south of the Willamette Valley. The Willamette River and its tributaries drain north along the Willamette Valley into the Columbia River,[11] which starts in British Columbia rather than Oregon.

Tire Mountain Wildflower Hike
Tire Mountain Wildflower Hike-
This beautiful wildflower hike is only about 50 miles from the town of Eugene, Oregon. You walk through the forest up to a ridge, where wildflower meadows bloom in April and May (depending on the snow that year), and you get gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountains like Diamond Peak and the Three Sisters. The very top of Tire Mountain doesn't actually have any views. This is a popular mountain bike trail, so be careful as bikers will come zooming down the hill!

Incredible Oregon Rain Forest
Coastal Mountains
Stay on well maintained trails
If not maintained don’t keep going
The trails may need maintenance such as leveling of
Trail paths so people and animals don’t slip into the
Ravine and river below, steps repaired and new wood on
Railings are important to fix
The river and falls are in a wild and scenic area
And it is important to remember when out in nature
That river levels may and will change if flash flooding
Happens in the area or around the area even if miles
And miles away. Be alert to weather and rain when you
Are out enjoying nature because mild gentle rivers and
Creeks can change rapidly and become great big walls
Of mighty force raging waters in a very short time.
