Emerald Lake Hike, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, USA
The Rocky Mountain National Park is located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado, USA, close to the community of Estes Park. From Estes Park, the Rocky Mountain National Park Headquarters at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center is a 6km drive to the west on Route 36. From there, the junction to Bear Lake Road is a further 2 km along Route 36 on the left side, and a 14 km drive along the scenic Bear Lake Road leads to the Bear Lake Trailhead.
Since the Bear Lake Trailhead is at 2871 m. above sea level, the 2.9 km. trail to Emerald Lake involves only a further 208 m. gain in elevation. Along the way, the trail passes Nymph Lake after 0.8 km., and Dream Lake after 1.8 km. Views from the trail include Flattop Mountain, Hallett Peak and Glacier Gorge. In early September, just before the first snowfalls of the coming winter season, large groves of aspen provide brilliant splashes of chrome yellow and salmon-pink color.
Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) Sprague Lake Hallett Peak & Flattop Mountain - Day 2 of 5 ????
Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) Sprague Lake with views of Ottis Peak, Hallett Peak, Tyndall Glacier and Flattop Mountain Day 2 of 5. Abner Sprague opened Sprague Lake Lodge from 1910 to 1940.
We went to Endovalley Picnic area and hiked to Chasm Falls before coming to Sprague Lake this was a nice easy hike. We were staying at Estes Park just East of this location.
Amie and I loved hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park.
“The trailhead for the Sprague Lake Trail is located off Bear Lake Road, roughly 5.5 miles from the turn-off at Highway 36. Due to the extreme popularity of the Bear Lake Road area, you may want to consider using the free park shuttle to reach the trailhead during peak tourist season.
Although the park sign at the trailhead states that the trail is a half-mile walk around the lake, the length is actually closer to nine-tenths of a mile. The route is virtually flat, travels over a hard packed gravel surface, and is considered to be wheelchair accessible and suitable for the entire family.”
“Sprague Lake is a scenic lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, located on the south side of Glacier Creek, about two miles south of the Hollowell turnoff. The half-mile walk around the lake is wheelchair accessible and features boardwalks and bridges with views of Flattop Mountain and Hallet Peak. The lake provides a pleasant area for brookie fishing.[1]“

Twin Sisters Peak Rocky Mountain National Park, COLORADO
The Climb
Directions: Twin Sisters Peak lays on the eastern edge of Rocky Mountain National Park (CO), just south of Estes Park on Highway 7. From the junction with Hwy 36, Highway 7 leads south as it climbs for 6.5 miles to Lily Lake (on the shoulder of Lily Mtn). As soon as the road levels out, the Lake is to the right and a parking area and unused Visitor's Center is on the left. This is a congested area. The Twin Sisters Trailhead access is on a dirt/gravel road to the left of the unused Visitor's Center parking area. The road that climbs the hill behind the parking area. The road is gated at .40 miles. Parking is on the right side of the road only. Overflow parking is in the Lily Lake area.

Sharkstooth, RMNP | Northeast Ridge
Climbed with Dillon Sarnelli and David Yarian on July 5, 2015. A rad 5-pitch route with great exposure in RMNP. We got a bit off route on the 3rd (crux) pitch and ended up doing a steep, right-facing dihedral (5.7) with a protectable but tricky bulge move (5.9) midway up the pitch. Awesome day in the Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) Hiking to Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes - Day 3 of 5 ????
Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) Hiking to Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes - Day 3 of 5. The RMNP Emerald Lake hike was my favorite hike out of all the hikes we did. RMNP Estes Park Colorado is awesome.
Per:
“Trail Description: The hike to Emerald Lake begins from the Bear Lake Trailhead, located at the end of Bear Lake Road, 9 miles from the turn-off at Highway 36. Due to the extreme popularity of the area you may want to consider using the free park shuttle to reach the trailhead during peak tourist season.
Just beyond the trailhead the Bear Lake Loop splits off to the right, while the trail to Emerald Lake branches off to the left. Most hikers will stop at Bear Lake to check out the beautiful scenes from the east shore before proceeding to their ultimate destination. If starting in the early morning you might have an opportunity to go home with some great photos of Hallett Peak reflecting off the water.”...
“From Bear Lake the trail makes a steady climb up to Nymph Lake. Every now and then you'll catch a glimpse of Longs Peak through the trees. Due to the heavy amount of foot traffic this area receives, much of this section of trail has been paved.
At just over a half-mile from the trailhead hikers will reach the south end of Nymph Lake, a pleasant lake ringed by pond lilies. If you continue up the trail for a short distance you'll have a nice view of Hallett Peak standing sentinel over the lake.
As you proceed around the lake you'll encounter a fairly steep climb for a short section that includes an outstanding view of Longs Peak off to your left. Continuing higher will provide spectacular views of Hallett Peak as well. This section of trail, between Nymph Lake and Dream Lake, also offers an abundance of wildflowers during the summer.
At roughly 1.1 miles from the trailhead you'll arrive at the junction for the trail that leads to Lake Haiyaha. To continue on towards Emerald Lake hikers should turn right and walk a very short distance to the foot of Dream Lake.
The views of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain from the east shore of this beautiful subalpine lake are simply outstanding.“...
“The trail to Emerald Lake continues by skirting around the north shore of Dream Lake, while pressing deeper into the Tyndall Gorge. Once past the lake the trail begins climbing a series of steps. As you gain altitude you'll pass through a very pleasant and impressive looking pine forest. On your left Tyndall Creek gurgles down the gorge, while the jagged spires of Flattop Mountain can be seen almost directly in front of you.
At roughly 1.8 miles and an elevation of 10,110 feet, hikers will reach Emerald Lake, a true jewel in the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park. 12,713-foot Hallett Peak will be the dominating feature almost directly in front of you. Off towards the right will be the jagged spires of 12,324-foot Flattop Mountain. Across the subalpine lake you'll hear the sound of a waterfall rushing down the gorge between the two mountains, supplied by meltwater from the Tyndall Glacier.”

Bear Lake to Flattop Mountain - Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
We hiked from Bear Lake to Flattop Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park in August 2019. Approximately 9 miles and 3000 feet of climb ending at 12,400 feet.
We had the honor to walk on a mountain in Rocky Mountain National Forest. On stolen land of hinono’eino’ biito’owu’ (Arapaho)
Tséstho’e (Cheyenne) and
Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) people.
I do not conquer mountains. I conquer myself. Video cannot do this justice.
This was a challenging hike starting above 9,000 feet and taking us to the Continental Divide at over 12,000 feet. There were stunning views of Several Lakes, Including Bierstadt Lake, Bear Lake, Dream Lake, and Emerald Lake. At the top, there are stunning views of both sides of the Rocky Mountains and Tyndall Glacier.
