Hemisfair: Where San Antonio meets
Hemisfair is becoming the place where San Antonio meets. It is one of the most used parks per acre in the state. From the first conversations about the park in the early 2000s to its becoming a “crown jewel of urban revitalization” in 2017, Hemisfair is a central, civic gathering place for all the things that are San Antonio. Tower Of The Americas - Fun Things To Do In Downtown San Antonio TX
The Tower Of The Americas is one of the top tourists attractions not only in downtown San ntonio, but in the entire state of Texas.
The Tower was built as part of the World's Fair in San Antonio in 1968. The structure itself looks the same as it did during the World's Fair, but the City of San Antonio has done a lot in recent years to beautify the grounds with fountains, trees, plants and shrubbery to make the entire experience more appealing to visitors. You'll see a lot of those improvements in this video, which I shot with a cell phone camera in June of 2013.
The tower is surrounded by other interesting things to do and places to see. It's within easy walking distance of the historic Alamo, the charming River Walk, La Villita (the Little Village dating back to the city's early days), and HemisFair Plaza. The Alamodome and the henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center are also just a few steps away.
The Tower's official website says Located in downtown San Antonio, the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas provides guests the most spectacular view of the Alamo City. Enjoy the gorgeous panorama from the Tower's revolving Chart House Restaurant, take in the scenery from the Observation Deck or experience the thrilling 4D Theater Ride.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Park And Nature Area In San Antonio Texas
Eisenhower Park in Northwest San Antonio Texas (in the Texas Hill Country) is a lovely nature area criss-crossed by multiple walking trails. Some trails are paved, others are not, and different paths feature different degrees of difficulty for walkers, joggers and hikers.
Eisenhower Park is managed by the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.
Most of the trails meet at the top of a hill where there's an uncovered wooden lookout tower. From there you can see downtown San Antonio's skyline in the distance to the south.
I took the most popular paved trail. The round trip up the hill and back down covers almost 3 miles.
The park was formerly part of the US Army training ground Camp Bullis. It was opened to the public in 1988. The park is named after U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower who was originally from Texas and was an army commander at nearby Fort Sam Houston.
As you can see in the video, there are also picnic areas and a playground, plus barbecue pits and a rock climbing facade near the entrance to the park.

This is 8mm Kodachrome home movie footage from 1968. The beginning of the film is of the 1968 Hemisfair in San Antonio, Texas. It shows the monorail and some of the exhibits at the fair. However, a majority of the film is dedicated to the couple's three dogs running and playing in the backyard. The pups get some love from both wife and husband.
I am struck by how much these two people traveled, but they obviously loved being home as well.
