An E-Bike Tour of Acadia National Park in Maine
Learn how I became interested in e-bikes in this short video tour featuring one of the most beautiful places in the United States -- the Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. My Cousin Linda tells how e-bikes allowed her to stay active and riding despite a torn meniscus and knee surgery. If you are looking for a way to stay out in the big beautiful world, then see how Linda, her husband Roger, and I do it with modern cycling technology.

Husband and wife team Aaron and Michele became proud Pedego Electric Bike owners while living in London, England where Aaron served in the US Air Force.
“After considering my 6 mile commute to work in Central London, I decided an electric bike would be the fastest, most economical and certainly the most fun option available!”, Aaron explains. “I Googled, ‘best electric bike in the world,’ and the first thing that popped up was Pedego, I immediately placed my order, sight unseen!”
“After my first ride, I was so impressed with the quality, style, and comfort of my new bike, that I immediately ordered one for my wife. Not only did it meet our commuting needs, but we used them every weekend for rides to the parks and local sites around London. The looks we received were priceless! For even more family fun, we got a trailer to pull our 85 lb Golden Retriever, she loved her rides to the park!”
After Aaron retired, he wanted to share his love for Pedego Electric Bikes with as many people as possible and thus was born Pedego Myrtle Beach!

Dealer Spotlight | Pedego Myrtle Beach | Aaron Maynard
Colonel Aaron Maynard spent 26 years of his life serving in the United States Air Force. After decades of serious, stressful work, the 50-year-old planned to retire and try something different. His wife Michele agreed that a change of pace was needed. But they weren’t quite sure what shape that transformation should take. “I wanted to stay active and continue to interact with people,” Aaron explained. “And, I wanted to have fun.”
The answer came when he and Michele purchased a pair of Pedego electric bikes. As Aaron saw it, introducing the public to Pedego would help him continue to work at something that would help others, be a new career, and it would allow him to stick to the fun part of the plan. “It had to be something I was passionate about,” he explains. “And Pedego Electric Bikes was it.”
Gone are the days when the golden age of 65 meant you retired, sat in a rocker, and counted your memories. According to Gallup, a whopping 49 percent of Boomers don’t plan to retire until after age 66. And of those, 10 percent say they’ll never retire at all. But that doesn’t mean they plan to stay in the same jobs. The trick has been to transfer to something fresh, new, energizing and enjoyable — and in the Maynards’ case, their new career is centered on fun.
A big plus is that Aaron’s job skills from his military career transferred nicely into his future as a Pedego store owner. His ability to work well with people, his strong communication skills, and his talents as a problem solver made him a great candidate for small business ownership. Also, his degree in Business/Marketing prepared him to be successful. Of course, this story isn’t just about Aaron. Returning to their home state of South Carolina from London, England, the Maynards made Pedego Myrtle Beach a family adventure. Their sons — Reid, 23, and Max, 21 — work at the store, too. Their daughter Emma, 15, works around her school schedule to help in the store as well. Even their golden retriever Addie serves as the shop mascot, with customers stopping by just to see her. The bonus was the family’s shared interest in health and fitness. It all came together to make them perfect Pedego store owners.
The direction of the Maynards’ career move is not entirely unexpected. Early in life, Aaron imagined business ownership. “I always dreamed of working for myself and including my family in the adventure,” he said. And because it has taken a couple of decades for this entrepreneur to reach for his goal, the rewards are very sweet. He has enjoyed being at the store every day since it opened in April 2015.
“I look forward to coming in every morning. I don’t think of it as work at all. I call it going to fun!” The Maynards have been able to interact with people, as they hoped. In fact, these interactions have been an exceptionally positive part of the experience. “Part of the fun is watching people’s reactions to our amazing bikes,” said Maynard. “They always have a smile, a big wide smile! It’s all about FUN!”
Aaron likes to say that he traded in his military uniform for a new kind — shorts and flip-flops — and from all accounts, it fits just right. Instead of greeting a work day of stress, now he says, “Hello, fun!”

Biking in Acadia National Park : Travel Vlog
We went camping at Acadia National Park and spent our first day biking around the carriage roads in the park. They have some of the most scenic roads to bike on that cars aren't allowed on. We ended up doing 32 miles that day and we were beat at the end. Then it was back to Seawall Campground for some relaxation. Enjoy!

Mountain Biking the Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park - Bar Harbor, Maine
Today we are visiting the stunning Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. Much to my chagrin there is no mountain biking on the island, but of course that wasn’t enough to stop me from finding an excuse to ride. Way back in the early 20th century a vast network of crushed stone roads were built throughout Acadia National Park for the use of hikers, horse riders, and most importantly, bikers. No cars allowed thank you very much. These trails, commonly referred to as the “Carriage Roads” are in my option one of the coolest ways to experience the park, soak in its beautiful features all while pedaling your little heart out.
But I wasn’t alone for this adventure. My wife and our good friends Jon, Judy, and their daughter all saddled up for our 20 mile, five and a half hour tour of the Carriage Roads.
Along the way we stopped at a handful of the beautiful, granite bridges built throughout the carriage roads. Each one was individually designed with the intent to both blend into the background and be a work of art to admire all on their own.
Once you are done checking out the bridges be sure to plan ahead so you can grab lunch at the Jordan Pond House. This restaurant is right inside the park, has a sweet name, and the expectedly fantastic views are matched by delicious food and drink.
The week we spend exploring the park is something I look forward to doing every year. I am so glad that this year I was able to share our biking adventure with you. If you want to see more videos like this one click subscribe and drop me a note below what you thought of Acadia National Park.
Thank you so much for watching. Now it’s your turn, get out there and ride.

Biking 30A
Hello Everyone!
This is my biking adventure around 30A from this summer. For those of you who are not local Floridians, 30A is a highway in the panhandle of Florida. Along this highway, I found 3 charming beach towns! I hope you fall in love with Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, and Seaside too! Also, I hope this video inspires you to go biking!
Enjoy exploring with me! :D

The Melt Down on 30A, Seaside, Florida
Nestled along side scenic highway 30A in Sea Side, Florida you will find a row of vintage airstream trailers converted to food trailers. In the middle of these, you will find The Melt Down on 30A. Here you will find an amazing eatery specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches. We think this is the perfect beach side food...come off the beach, get in line and grab a quick snack! Why should it be complicated!?
If you're not staying at Sea Side, parking can be a hassle. What we recommend is head into the small village next to Sea Side called Watercolor. You will find an abundance of parallel parking areas along with amazing beach side houses and lush gardens. You can rent a bike for 15$ a day at the Watercolor bike rental and traverse the vast number of trails that skirt the inland lakes and ponds on your way to the Melt Down.
You can expect to pay about $5 dollars for a single sandwich which may seem expensive but here its all about quality and convenience.
On this day we were served right away but that is not always the case! This place is extremely popular and can get very crowed during the typical dining hours.
If you are staying at Sea Side or just passing thru we highly recommend taking the time to stop and have a grilled cheese! Not only will you enjoy it, you will have made a memory that will last a lifetime!

Bike Riding Maine's Carriage Roads
The Carriage Roads and stone bridges in Acadia National Park (a 57 mile network of woodland roads free of motor vehicles) were financed and directed by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., between 1913 and 1940, for hikers, bikers, horseback riders and carriages. Approximately 45 miles of Carriage Roads within the park allow the activities of cross-country skiing and limited snowmobiling.
The Carriage Roads are the best example of turn of the century broken stone roads in America today. Granite from Mount Desert Island was quarried by the construction crews for road material and bridge facing. Native vegetation such as fern and wild blueberries was tastefully used to landscape the roadside.
There also are more than 120 miles of hiking trails in Acadia National Park that range from short, level surf walks to the steep Precipice Trail. Connecting trails enable the skilled and hardy hiker to scale several Acadia peaks in one trip. Settings vary widely from deep woods to mountain summits and shoreline with views of the ocean and outer islands.
