5. Bonnie Parker and Blanche Barrow: The Bluest Shot-At Eyes in Texas
Bonnie Parker Thornton and Blanche Caldwell Callaway were two despondent flappers at the close of the 1920s. In fact, the popular 1929 song “Am I Blue?” could have been written for them. But in 1930, at the start of the U.S.’s Great Depression, they met two brothers, Clyde and Buck, who were known as the ‘Barrow Gang.’ Somehow, these two petty criminals and ex-cons won the hearts of Bonnie and Blanche to the extent that neither woman would desert them, even when the Barrow brothers’ violent deaths were inevitable and their own lives were in danger. This episode presents the details of their hardscrabble lives before, during, and–in Blanche’s case–after voluntarily becoming road-mates with the men who eventually became murderers and the subjects of one of the largest manhunts of the 1930s. Bonnie and Blanche were at once tough and vulnerable, glamorous and unsophisticated, self-centered and utterly devoted to others.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Edwin McMasters Stanton (December 19, 1814 – December 24, 1869) was an American lawyer and politician who served as Secretary of War under the Lincoln Administration during most of the American Civil War. Stanton's management helped organize the massive military resources of the North and guide the Union to victory. However, he was criticized by many Union generals for perceived over-cautiousness and micromanagement. He also organized the manhunt for Lincoln's killer, John Wilkes Booth.
After Lincoln's assassination, Stanton remained as the Secretary of War under the new U.S. President Andrew Johnson during the first years of Reconstruction. He opposed the lenient policies of Johnson towards the former Confederate States. Johnson's attempt to dismiss Stanton ultimately led to U.S. President Johnson being impeached by the Radical Republicans in the House of Representatives. Stanton returned to law after retiring as Secretary of War, and in 1869 was nominated as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court by Johnson's successor, Ulysses S. Grant; however, he died four days after his nomination was confirmed by the Senate.

Watch: House final vote on articles of impeachment (FULL LIVE STREAM)
The full House of Representatives will debate and vote on the articles of impeachment. If at least one of the articles passes, Trump will be the third president in U.S. history to be impeached. If the House decides to impeach, the Senate will hold a trial to consider if Trump should be removed from office. On this historic day, The Post’s Libby Casey will be joined by Washington Post reporters Elise Viebeck, Amber Phillips, and Rhonda Colvin to take you through the process.
Trump is the fourth president in U.S. history to face impeachment, which could be approved this week on the House floor. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son. Interview with Francis J. Vail, WWII veteran. CCSU Veterans History Project.
Interview conducted by Eileen Hurst. Francis Jim Vail enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in September of 1942. He was living in Stafford Springs, CT at the time, and applied to be a pilot. Although, he failed the eye test, he wanted to remain in the Air Corps, because it seemed more exciting than the infantry. Vail's basic training was in Atlantic City, NJ, just off of the boardwalk. He stayed in the Dennis Hotel, which was next to where the Miss America pageant was staged, and the men in basic training were able to see the entire show from their hotel. From basic training, Vail was sent to the Long Island Institute of Technology to learn airplane mechanics, and lived in an apartment building while going to school. The 16 week program was taught by civilians, and the men in the program lived as civilians for the most part, as they only had one hour a day where instruction was given by the army. Vail was then stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM just after it was built, where he remained for nine months working in the airplane hangar. While stationed there the movie premier for Bombardier was held, as it had been filmed primarily on the base, and all of the soldiers were invited to attend. From there, Vail received his orders to go overseas, and shipped out of New Jersey in a convoy of over 100, 000 soldiers. They were sent to Bizerte, Africa to await their orders, and after two weeks, Vail was transferred to Bari, Italy to work as a mechanic at the air field as part of the 41st Air Depot Group. Vail describes what it was like to live on the air base, how it was bombed extensively by the Germans, and what they did for entertainment, including a story about a game the soldiers invented called donkey softball. The 41st Air Depot Group was shipped home in 1945, and received their orders to return before the war had ended. V - E Day was the day they actually shipped out, and they ended up being one of the first ships to arrive back in the U.S. Although they were shipped home, Vail's service time was not yet up, and he was sent to Spokane, WA to train for the Invasion of Japan. Because the invasion never happened he was stationed at the Newark airport to work as a draftsmen until his discharge. Vail was discharged in late 1945, and although he was offered a job as an airplane mechanic at Bradley airport, he instead took a job as a draftsmen, which he retired from.

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling Bravo! in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
