The Loch Lake Trail - Rocky Mountain National Park
Our third day in Rocky Mountain National Park, we chose to hike The Loch lake trail. This was a much easier hike, approximately 6-mile round trip, compared to the Ouzel Trail we did a couple of days ago. Some very scenic overlooks, waterfalls, and the lake itself was worth the hike. I’d suggest getting there early morning to beat the crowds.

Sky Pond - Rocky Mountain National Park
Nick Sangetta and Barb Sangetta hike Sky Pond in the Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado on September 12, 2018. Included are The Loch and Glass Lake. Wildlife: Elk, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel, Pine Squirrel
Best Hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park
There are so many beautiful hiking trails in the Rocky Mountain National Park, it’s hard to pick just one. So, we took the advice of locals working at an outdoor shop in the nearby town of Estes Park and chose the path to Sky Pond. The hike was just difficult enough that I felt like I got a great workout, but not so hard that I couldn’t do it.
Along the way stops included a photo op a the 30-foot Alberta Falls, walk around the Loch Vale, hike up to the larger Timberline Falls, stroll around Glass Lake, and lunch at Sky Pond.

Dave and Patti Foltz take a five mile hike to Cub Lake in the Rocky Mountain National Park on June 14, 2012.
Emerald Lake Trail - Rocky Mountain National Park
If you have ever wanted to visit Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, consider it's number #1 rated easy-moderate hike, the Emerald Lake Trail. Under 4 miles round trip and you pass 4 breathtaking alpine lakes on the hike. One of my favorite easy trails in the entire parks system.
These are 3 things that everyone OBVIOUSLY needs to consider before just driving out to do a hike. There are MANY other considerations to be made, but these 3 will at least get you started. These clips are from some gopro ramblings when I spent a week exploring Rocky Mountain National Park earlier this June.
Rocky Mountain National Park | Hike Sky Pond | Camp Estes Park Colorado
Rocky Mountain National Park was the focus of this trip. We began our trip by driving from Little Rock, Arkansas to Boulder, Colorado. There we picked up food for the weekend at Trader Joe’s. Once done there we drove on to Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park, Colorado. The next morning we had a quick breakfast before heading to Rocky Mountain National Park. There we drove to hike at a trail that we have done once before, and really wanted to experience the amazing trial again. That trail is the Sky Pond Trail. It is such an amazing place. After we finished the Sky Pond Trial in Rocky Mountain National Park, we drove back to Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park. There we cleaned up before driving to Boulder, Colorado to hang out on Pearl Street. For dinner, we had an amazing meal at The Post Brewing. The next morning we cooked pancakes for breakfast. After that, we left for downtown Estes Park to do a little shopping. After a short time there, we drove back to Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove up the Old Fall River Road to the Alpine Visitor Center. We spent some time touring the area then left to drive the rest of Trail Ridge Road. We then left the park thinking we were going to explore some of the National Forest in the area. However, we ended up driving to the Wild Basin Entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We were not aware that when we turned down this dirt road that it would be another area of the National Park that is not as well known. We found a great place on the St. Vrain Creek to put up some hammocks and relax. We left there to go back to Mary’s Lake Campground to cook dinner. The next morning packed up camp, and drove to Boulder, Colorado where we had breakfast at Tangerine.
Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), Colorado, USA - Mount Ida Summit in 4K Ultra HD
Mount Ida is a mountain summit in the northern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 12,865-foot (3,921 m) peak is located in the Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness, 13.4 miles (21.6 km) west (bearing 268°) of the Town of Estes Park, Colorado, United States, on the Continental Divide between Grand and Larimer counties. The mountain was probably named after Mount Ida on Crete. (Wikipedia)

Hike to Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park on 7/26/2016
On 7/26/2016 I took the 5 hour, round trip hike to Sky Pond from Glacier Gorge Trailhead. I left early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the views and the fishing were both spectacular! The climb up the waterfalls to Glass Lake was a good experience and a bit more difficult than I had planned on. Easily doable if you take your time. I caught Brookies in Sky Pond and Greenbacks in Icy Brook. I will do this hike again soon!

We saw bear, elk , moose , mule deer, bighorn sheep
The altitude however is something to get used too. We traveled 11,700 and some feet to the top of trail ridge road..
Stayed in a cottage where everything is provided including a kitchen so we were able to cook our own food ..
We love nature and enjoyed this area once again.. I believe it was our 3 or 4th time..lost track..lol #dianemummgardenvideos
Bear and Sprague Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, USA
The Rocky Mountain National Park is located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado, USA, close to the community of Estes Park. From Estes Park, the Rocky Mountain National Park Headquarters at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center is a 6km drive to the west on Route 36. From there, the junction to Bear Lake Road is a further 2 km along Route 36 on the left side, and a 14 km drive along the scenic Bear Lake Road leads to the Bear Lake Trailhead.
At Bear Lake, a 1 km. graded accessible path around the edge of the lake is a popular low-impact trail. Aspen groves along this trail provide outstanding autumn colors in early September --- a colorful contrast to distant, gray, snow-tipped mountain peaks.
Sprague Lake (on Bear Lake Road , about 5 km. before the Bear Lake Trailhead) offers a second popular accessible lakeside path. The still water of this lake mirrors a panoramic vista of the mountains of the Continental Divide. Abner Sprague, an early homesteading settler, created a trout pond by damming a mountain stream, and colorful Eastern Brook Trout still swim in shallow feeder streams.

Rocky Mountain National Park II Winter Hikes
Today we did, Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake all in one day! This is a great winter hike with four lakes!
Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain National Park - July 2013
Lake Haiyaha is a sparsely visited alpine lake just west of the must more frequently visited Dream Lake, but just as amazing. From Dream to Haiyaha, you'll find amazing views of the Bear Lake area and Longs Peak to the west.
A few people stop at the small inlet near Lake Haiyaha and think that's it, but scale across the faintly marked rock field and you'll see the actual Lake. Explore.
Rocky Mountain National Park - In A Colorado Minute (Week 208)
- - Rocky Mountain National Park is a 415 square-mile National Park in Northern Colorado. It straddles the continental divide and features high mountain peaks, lakes, rivers, trails and lots of wildlife.
From Fort Collins, the Rocky Mountain National Park is only a little over an hour away by car, and the drive via Highway 34 takes you through Thompson Canyon along the Big Thompson river. Thompson Canyon features rock walls that rival those of Poudre Canyon road (Highway 14). If you come this way, you will find the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park in the town Estes Park.
So it was an easy choice to take a little road trip with my friend Judith Hecktor, who is visiting from Berlin right now (and has been featured in quite a few videos from Berlin, Brooklyn and other road trip videos). As you can see in the video she gets along smashingly with our dog Whiskey.
This area is truly stunning with its contrast of big mountains, deep meadows, running rivers, colorful rocks, a variety of plants and wildlife everywhere.
The last time, I visited Rocky Mountain National Park was in August, in the heat of the summer. Even then you could still find snow on some of the peaks. Unfortunately, now in April, there was still so much snow that some of the higher roads were closed. But I'm sure I'll be back to film, explore and show this beautiful nature park to other visiting friends throughout the summer. Scott and I may even go on a camping venture up there or stay in one of the cabins along the river... Whatever we do, I'm sure I'll share a video with you afterwards.
On the plus side of checking out this park in the winter: so much snow has fallen that entire lakes, hiking trails and the signs for those locations are buried in the snow, which adds a different kind of drama to your photographic or videographic experience.
While the fee to get in is $20, the ticket is valid for an entire week - at least at this time of the year. And there's so much else to explore in the vicinity, like staying at The Stanley Hotel, which was the inspiration for Stephen King's novel The Shinning and where some of the TV show has been filmed, or taking the aerial tramway... So yeah, I'll be back soon...

We weren’t prepared for hiking and the weather at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, we ended up hiking in thundersnow! Driving from Denver where it was beautiful and sunny the weather changed so much by the time we got to the park (RMNP). We tried to hike until thunder and lightning started falling. Rocky Mountains Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about nature park Rocky Mountains in the USA.
The Rocky Mountains National Park is one of the most unique and impressive natural paradises in the United States Of America. It covers an area of a thousand square kilometres and was inaugurated in 1915.The picturesque Bear Lake lies within a forested area and is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the park. At high altitude, several paths such as the Nature Trail lead through the lake’s natural landscape. The idyllic beauty is truly spellbinding and it is not surprising that Bear Lake is the most popular photo shot of the entire park. It was discovered that twelve thousand years ago prehistoric Indians hunted within the Rocky Mountains. The legendary culture of the Nasazi Indians originated around two thousand years ago and left its traces in what is today the national park. Alberta Falls in the south of Glacier Gorge is one of the park’s most popular sightseeing destinations where white masses of foaming water race down several levels into the valley below. The road from Glacier Gorge winds its way in a northerly direction past Glacier Basin and the eastern park entrance close to Estes Park. In this region the Rocky Mountains are at their most beautiful and the landscape in the area of Horseshoe Park is reminiscent of the exciting and colourful Wild West of old. The vast wilderness in the west of the USA has survived in the Rocky Mountains right up to the present day and is a fascinating tribute to the amazing natural world of North America.
