My trip to the US - Vol 2 - The visit tio Washington DC.is memorable
My trip to Washington DC ( from Boston ) was by train. The sub urban train that took me me to Bostom was practically empty. The journey by the famous super fast and the ,Acela Expess was comfortable and the service was good, but its speed was not as expected in that It never touched its max. speed of 250 Kmph at any point.
Perhaps the most famous, and definitely one of the most popular, Museums,is the Air & Space Museum which displays artifacts and airplanes that dangle from the ceiling that date from the earliest times of aviation to space exploration. See Charles A. Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, Voyager, John Glenn's Mercury spacecraft, WWII fighter planes, the Apollo Lunar Module, and the 4-billion-year-old shard of lunar rock brought back by Apollo 17 astronauts.. The Lincoln Memorial is a tribute to President Abraham Lincoln and the nation he fought to preserve during the Civil War (1861-1865). The architecture of the Lincoln Memorial is based after a Greek Temple. It has 36 Doric columns, one for each state at the time of Lincoln's death.A sculpture by Daniel Chester French of a seated Lincoln is in the center of the memorial chamber. The Gettysburg Address is inscribed on the south wall of the monument. Above it is a mural painted by Jules Guerin depicting the angel of truth freeing a slave. Guerin also painted the unity of North and South mural on the north wall. Etched into the north wall below the mural is Lincoln's second inaugural speech.
The George Washington Monument was originally erected to honor the greatness of the city of Washington. The Washington Monument rises 555 feet above the National Mall, following the design of architect Robert Mills, a prominent American designer of the 1840s. Construction of the monument began in 1848, but was not completed until 1884, almost 30 years after the Mr. Mills' death. This hiatus in construction was due to lack of funds and the problem of the American Civil War. A difference in shading of the marble that is visible approximately 153 feet up clearly demarcates the initial construction from its later building endeavors, resuming in 1876. Fifty flags surround the base of the Washington Monument, one to symbolize each state in the Union
More than four million people visit the Arlington cemetery annually, many coming to pay final respects at graveside services, of which nearly 100 are conducted each week, Monday through Friday.A first stop on a trip to the cemetery should include the Visitors Center, located by the cemetery entrance, where maps, guidebooks, exhibits, information services (to include grave locations), a bookstore and restrooms can be found. On Nov. 22, 1963, while on a campaign trip to Dallas, President Kennedy was shot and killed.
There are only two U.S. presidents buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The other is William Howard Taft, who died in 1930. Mrs. Kennedy had expressed a desire to mark the president's grave with an eternal flame similar to that of the French Unknown Soldier in Paris. The Washington Gas Company was contacted and a propane-fed torch was selected, as it could be safely lit during the funeral the following day. The grave area is paved with irregular stones of Cape Cod granite, which were quarried around 1817 near the site of the president's home and selected by members of his family. Clover, and later, sedum were planted in the crevices to give the appearance of stones lying naturally in a Massachusetts field. Lighted by Mrs. Kennedy during the funeral, the Eternal Flame burns from the center of a five-foot circular flat-granite stone at the head of the grave. The burner is a specially designed apparatus created by the Institute of Gas Technology of Chicago. A constantly flashing electric spark near the tip of the nozzle relights the gas should the flame be extinguished by rain, wind or accident. The fuel is natural gas and is mixed with a controlled quantity of air to achieve the color and shape of the flame.
2015 LFL National Conference – Fearfully and Wonderfully Made with Dr. David Menton
Nearly 400 Lutherans gathered October 30-31 at both the Cincinnati Airport Marriott and the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, from across the United States and Canada for the 2015 Lutherans For Life National Conference. The theme: Created • Redeemed • Called.
“Dr. David Menton was born in Mankato, Minnesota, and grew up as an only child in a Christian family. He was blessed to share God’s Word as a Sunday school teacher, church elder, and president of the congregation. Since early grade school, Dr. Menton has had a strong interest in science of all kinds. While in grade school, he converted a small room in the basement into a well-equipped chemistry laboratory. Many of the birthday and Christmas gifts he received during childhood were of a scientific nature, including a chemistry set, mineralogy collection, microscope, telescope, and binoculars. This lifelong interest in science led to his study of biology and chemistry at Minnesota State University in Mankato, where he graduated with a BS degree in 1959. After a six-month tour of active duty in the Army Reserves, Dr. Menton worked two years as a research laboratory technician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He left Mayo to do graduate work at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he received a PhD in biology in 1966. His thesis research dealt with the effects of essential fatty acid deficiency on the structure and epidermal barrier function of skin. Following graduation from Brown, Dr. Menton accepted a position in the department of anatomy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. At Washington University, he conducted research and taught human gross anatomy and histology. He received awards both for his research and teaching, including twice being awarded Professor of the Year by the senior class. During his tenure at Washington University, Dr. Menton served as the histology consultant for five editions of Stedman’s Medical Dictionary and was a guest lecturer in histology at Stanford University Medical School. He spent two summers studying an unusual wound-healing mechanism in sea cucumbers (a marine invertebrate) at Woods Hole Marine Biology Laboratory on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Dr. Menton retired in the year 2000 as an Associate Professor Emeritus after 34 years on the faculty. Shortly after retirement, Dr. Menton joined Answers in Genesis as a speaker and researcher. He now travels and speaks for AiG throughout much of the U.S. as well as overseas, including recent events in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Trinidad, Peru, and Turkey. He has also contributed numerous articles to Answers magazine and book chapters to The New Answers Book 2. Dr. Menton conducts special workshops by arrangement for school and church groups of all ages. In the workshops he employs photographs, anatomical models, and a special video microscope to cover a wide variety of topics on life science.”
We Have Not a Government: The Articles of Confederation and the Road to the Constitution
In the years following the end of the American Revolution, the Continental Congress was on the brink of collapse due to the Articles of Confederation and its refusal to consider fundamental reform to the document. In professor George William Van Cleve’s book, We Have Not a Government, we encounter a sharply divided America and a Congress that grudgingly agreed to support the 1787 Constitutional Convention to replace the Articles with a more flexible and powerful government. A book signing will follow the program.

Chris Aable - Washington State Song
Chris Aable grew up around big names in music. His father was a friend of Elvis Presley, born the same year & tiny town where both would sneak into State Fairs together. Chris's mother was a good friend of Johnny Horton's wife, who shared a wedding dress, now on Museum display. Chris's great uncle, Claude King, was a regular on the first musical TV Show, the Louisiana Hayride in the 50s and won two Grammy Awards in the 60s for songs in the Top 10.
Chris began writing songs on piano at age nine for his famous uncle and others. At age ten, Chris joined his school orchestra playing viola and violin. While in his teens he taught himself to play Saxophone and harp. He also played keyboards in a band called Pan (after the mythical god of music) playing for audiences as large as 50,000. His songs were later published by Heartwind Publications as a book of poetry entitled “Life Songs”, which made Chris the youngest poet listed in “Who's Who of North American Poets”.
Before going to college, Chris moved to L.A., produced a TV Pilot Americas Craziest Home Videos (Before America's Funniest Home Videos) and hosted his own TV Show Hollywood Today interviewing over 100 celebrities. He was in numerous commercials including a regular skit on The Movie Channel. He temporarily left acting and music in the 90s to attend college, earning degrees in Human Services, and a double major for his Master's in Psychology & Sociology. He was the first Graduate Professor to teach both Psychology and Sociology at CSULA.
Today, Chris Aable's focus is back on song writing a message of Self-Evolution-Peace, love and unity. Each of his over 100 songs demonstrate Chris' talent for unique lyrics, superior orchestration and highly diverse instrumentation. He is a long-time member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.

Catholics in the Public Square | Bradley Birzer | Lecture 1: Settling North America (Excerpt)
Order Now:
Catholics in the Public Square: A Study in Conflict and Influence
Dr. Bradley Birzer, Ph.D.
Although John F. Kennedy proclaimed an absolute separation of church and state, faithful Catholics have long struggled to maintain a connection between faith and politics.
The intersection between church and state has always been a sticking point for Americans, especially for those in public office. During recent election cycles, we've witnessed spiritual compromise by self-described Catholic politicians and the attack of popular media against socially conservative candidates. This year, the tension between church and state came to a head with the major confrontation between the Catholic Bishops and the Obama administration over policy decisions.
Get to the Source
Dr. Bradley Birzer reaches deep into American history to present a study of the conflict between Catholics, the Church, and the federal government. The Founding Fathers made it clear they believed that personal religion had everything to do with politics - but somewhere in our country's history we've lost that understanding.
Professor Birzer discusses the Founding Fathers and highlights the influence Catholics have had in the formation of our country. After all, one of the Fathers was a Catholic named Charles Carroll. Professor Birzer provides an in-depth look at Carroll's role in the foundation of the United States of America in a dynamic treatment spanning two lectures.
Keeping the Faith Alive
Religion, and Catholicism in particular, continued to influence politics and culture through the great religious revivals of the Second Great Awakening in the late 19th century. In fact, Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in his 1835 classic, Democracy in America, that the United States enjoyed a great unity of Christianity. . . . There can be no greater proof of its utility, and of its conformity to human nature, than that its influence is most powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth.
Dr. Birzer explains this great unity, and the soaring church membership that occurred during the Great Awakening . . . and what it meant for both Christianity and the state.
Down, but Not Out
Although Americans might not enjoy the same unity of Christianity we did a century ago, its fundamental principles continue to influence powerfully literature, academia, social issues, and political parties.
Join Professor Birzer for a study in American history and politics, and how Catholics have shaped our country in the past and continue to influence its direction into the future.

Chicago - City Video Guide
Chicago, Illinois, rises from the edges of Lake Michigan and offers some of America's best jazz, blues and theater.
Chicago's most visited districts are The Loop, as the city's business center, The Riverwalk and the Miracle Mile. The Miracle Mile houses the Old Water Tower and is full of boutique shops and fine examples from the Chicago School of architecture.
Chicago's parks include the monument-rich Lincoln Park with the Chicago History Museum, Garfield Park Conservatory and Oak Park. Oak Park was home both to the author Ernest Hemingway and the visionary architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In Millennium Park, Frank Gehry's Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the equally futuristic-looking Cloud Gate are the highlights.
Children's attractions in Chicago include the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Museum of Science and Industry or the Field Museum, known from the Indiana Jones movies. The historic Navy Pier also offers waterfront entertainment for all ages, including scenic river cruises.

#29: Mystery Babylon 1: The Dawn of Man
This is Part 1 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon.
There are only two religions in the world, Mystery Babylon and Christianity, and those of the Mystery Schools believe that Christianity is a perversion of their true religion and seek to destroy it. As the program progresses you will plainly see that Satan has carefully and deceitfully crafted a Pagan Religion of the Dying and Rising god that counterfeits the Religion of Christ BEFORE the advent of Christ, for Satan was not unaware of the prophecy of the coming Son of Man first prophesied in the Garden of Eden.
