The top five carriers at the airport in number of passengers carried in 2012 were Alaska Airlines (35.06%), Horizon Air (14.1%), Delta Air Lines (11.6%), Southwest Airlines (8.5%), and United Airlines (5.7%).

Two cities which, at first glance, seem very similar to each other. Although Seattle is an American city and Vancouver is a Canadian city, both are part of the same region, known as the Pacific Northwest, or sometimes known as Cascadia.
Both have a temperate oceanic climate known for their generally cool temperatures and rainy weather. While both have four seasons, it never gets too cold in the winter and never too hot in the summer. Both can get snow in the winter and get A LOT of precipitation from November through January. Yep, those three months are cold, dark, and rainy.
Both are in the infamous Ring of Fire, an area where lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions tend to occur.
Both have about the same population in the actual city limits. (V- 675,218, S- 724,745). However, Seattle’s metro population has about 1.5 million more people. (V- 2.5 million, S- 4 million) But you could say Vancouver is a bigger deal in its home country, as it has the 3rd largest metro in all of Canada, while Seattle has the 15th largest metro. Seattle has been the fastest growing American big city of the past decade.
While both are ethnically diverse, Vancouver is more so. 40% of Vancouver’s population is made up of immigrants. Around 28% of Vancouver residents are Chinese. It’s been called the “most Asian city outside of Asia.”
Both have low pollution and are environmentally friendly. Both have pledged to go carbon neutral by 2050.
I mean, overall both have a high quality of life, and thus...both cities are really expensive.

Aviation enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy this Seattle attraction. Great to visit in any weather as it has exhibits both inside and outside. A definite highlight is the Airpark where one can board Airforce One (used by Eisenhower,Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon), the 3rd Dreamliner 787 ever built as well as a Concorde.
Inside there is so much more to see. The Grand Gallery has planes used to deliver mail over the years, helicopters used during the Vietnam War as well planes used by bush pilots in Alaska. The kids really enjoyed riding the cockpit of fighter planes and taking over the controls.
A more somber wing contained the WW1 and WW2 aircrafts. Alongside the planes were personal effects as well as letters about the pilots. It was interesting to see how the fighter planes evolved over the years.
Across a foot bridge the gallery for space exploration contains the first satellite (Russian Sputnik) as well as a replica of a Space station. One can also practice landing a space shuttle.
The center also has a café with a childrens menu that is fairly priced with generous servings and included chips and a drink. The view of Boeing field with private planes landing made for a good distraction for restless kids.

--incalculable jaw drops at the beauty seen from along the ocean coastline to the snowy mountain ranges and backdoor views of towns and cities.
I can't recommend this enough! What an experience! What a way to see the country! The whole ride was smooth, quiet, and tranquil. Whether you enjoy a book in the glass-domed car while sipping on some coffee, or nurse a beer through the passing majesty outside your window, you are rocked gently into a relaxation that is unlike any other. The staff was ever ready to accommodate needs and/or wants. Guest speakers rode along, regaling passengers with tales of the flora, fauna, and history of the areas. Fellow passengers were in equal states of awe and wonder, evidenced by the acknowledging head tilts complete with twinkling eyes and hearty grins. Childhood fancy was stirred together with an aged appreciation and I found that though we were moving northward, time had stood still.
Note: Yes...I have since learned to refrain from filming in portrait mode, when using a phone. ????
Note: Thank you, all, who have clarified that it's a Lounge Car featured in this video, not an actual Parlour Car. I did not intend to mislead anyone; during our ride, the staff and fellow passengers were calling it the Parlour Car, and I was at fault for following the flock in my understanding. Our train's Parlour Car must have been undergoing maintenance, at the time. I did find, however, the Lounge Car to be quite enjoyable. Nevertheless, I imagine riding with an official Parlour Car would enhance the experience, greatly. Thank you all, for clarifying this, for me and for others.

So we have finally arrived in Washington state and of course the same weekend Tom had to work. Needless to say where we are staying the wifi is nothing amazing and Verizon 4G is not the best either. According to North American Aerospace Defense Command spokesman John Cornelio the F15 jets
were sent from Portland, Ore. , the president was visiting Seattle when a report that
an aircraft violated the airspace which was restricted.
The president said the aircraft left the restricted area before the Air National Guard jets arrived.
Lake Washington was where the pilot landed where the pilot was greeted by Secret Service agents.
He and his female passenger were returning home after a weekend at Lake Chelan.
They saw jets as they flew between the mountains and the Seattle area.
Once the plane landed the pilot and his passenger were immediatly interviewed by the Secret Service.

The Sheriff Refusing To Enforce Washington State's New Gun Law (HBO)
From his temporary office in the basement of the Klickitat County Courthouse, Sheriff Bob Songer is carrying out a provocative mission: he’s refusing to enforce a new Washington State gun control law.
The law, Initiative 1639, raises the age to purchase a semi-automatic rifle to 21, expands background checks, and adds new rules for the safe storage of firearms. Some of its provisions went into effect on January 1st; the rest are supposed to start in July.
But Songer says the law is unconstitutional -- and he insists he won’t carry it out, nor, as an elected sheriff, should he be obligated to.
“Even if it was a legal law, you have discretionary power,” Songer tells VICE News Tonight. “There is no other law enforcement official in the entire United States except a sheriff is elected to office by the people.”

A major port of entry and an air and sea gateway to Asia and Alaska, Seattle lies alongside Puget Sound, a deep inland arm of the northern Pacific Ocean, and is at the centre of a conurbation that is defined roughly by Everett to the north, Bellevue to the east, and Tacoma to the south.

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is a four-engine heavy bomber aircraft developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC). Competing against Douglas and Martin for a contract to build 200 bombers, the Boeing entry outperformed both competitors and more than met the Air Corps' expectations. Although Boeing lost the contract because the prototype crashed, the Air Corps was so impressed with Boeing's design that they ordered 13 more B-17s for further evaluation. From its introduction in 1938, the B-17 Flying Fortress evolved through numerous design advances.
The B-17 was primarily employed by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in the daylight precision strategic bombing campaign of World War II against German industrial and military targets. The United States Eighth Air Force, based at many airfields in southern England, and the Fifteenth Air Force, based in Italy, complemented the RAF Bomber Command's nighttime area bombing in the Combined Bomber Offensive to help secure air superiority over the cities, factories and battlefields of Western Europe in preparation for the invasion of France in 1944.[4] The B-17 also participated to a lesser extent in the War in the Pacific, early in World War II, where it conducted raids against Japanese shipping and airfields.

10. Dakota - The Duck-Billed Dinosaur.
Dakota is the nickname given to a fossil of a Duck-Billed Dinosaur, scientifically called a Edmontosaurus Annectens, which lived at the very end of the Cretaceous Period. Dakota was first noticed by a then teenager named Tyler Lyson in 1999 on a ranch near the southwestern North Dakota town named Marmarth, which is also part of the Hell Crest Formation. Excavation for the fossil did not start until 2004 when Lyson was in college and teamed up with British Paleontologist Phillip Manning. Dakota has skin, bones, and tendons preserved in sediment. Scientists believe that Dakota was a plant eater, roamed the area of the United States about 65 million years ago, weighed around between three to four tons, measured at about 35 feet long, and could run about 28 miles per hour. Dakota is now housed at the North Dakota Heritage Center and States Museum in Bismarck, North Dakota.
9. Tyrannosaurus Rex
While several bones for the Tyrannosaurus Rex has been found in several areas around the United States of America, one of the most well-preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex fossils was discovered in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation. The skull weighed in about 2,500 pounds, lived about 66 million years ago, making its living toward the end of the Cretaceous Period, and died around the age of 15. The skull also had about 20 percent of its former body intact, and is about 85 percent as large as the biggest Tyrannosaurus Rex found previously. Tyrannosaurus Rex’s are known to be meat eaters, had razor sharp teeth, about 40 feet long, and stood up to 20 feet tall. The T-Rex skull was named Tufts-Love Rex after to two paleontologists to uncover the skull, Luke Tufts and Jason Love. Luke and Jason were volunteers at Seattle's Burke Museum and part of a University of Washington expedition. Tufts-Love Rex is going to be on view at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle, Washington, once it is all cleaned, preserved and ready for view, as Tufts-Love Rex was only found a little over a year ago.
8. Triceratops
Recently, in fact as recent as August of this year, a Triceratops was found on a construction site in the town of Thornton, Colorado. The Saunders Construction crew was digging for a new fire and police station when one of a geotechnical engineer on site noticed something inconsistent with the surrounding claystone and sand. After ordering the crew to stop, water was poured around the item, when is when they noticed it was a very unusual find. In response, they secured the area and notified the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Dinosaur curator Joe Sertich, who works for the Denver Museum, states the dinosaur is a Triceratops fossil, about 66 million years old and lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, and is believed to have been about the size of a rhino. So far, records so that a total of 12 Triceratops bones have been uncovered at this site. These bones include both brow horns, part of the skull that surrounds the brain, parts of the snout, parts of the frill, which is the shield behind its head, the lower jaw, parts of the neck, some vertebrae and ribs. The possible weight of this dinosaur has not been mentioned, but just one rib weighed in at 40 pounds!
7.) Dakotaraptor
Unlike other dinosaurs like to Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Dakotaraptor was first found in 2005 and finally given its name in 2015. The Dakotaraptor was found in South Dakota’s Hell Creek Formation and dated to the end of the Cretaceous period. The dinosaur was discovered by Robert DePalma and his team. Robert is the curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Palm Beach Museum of Natural History. This dinosaur is said to be about 18 feet long, wings stretched about 3 feet, and is explained to be like a giant crested bird-like dinosaur. The Dakotaraptor had long arms with one of the lower arm bones showing quill knobs, which paleontologists believe means this dinosaur had some feathers, however it is believed that these dinosaurs could not fly. Furthermore, the dinosaur had long rear legs with a very large sickle claw on the second toe, which is believed was used for protection against other dinosaurs and was measured at 9.5 inches. Dakotaraptors are believed to be able to run quickly and were carnivores.
