Esperance is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, on the Southern Ocean coastline approximately 720 kilometres east-southeast of the state capital, Perth. The urban population of Esperance was over 10,000 as at the 2016 Census. Its major industries are tourism, agriculture, and fishing. The Shire of Esperance is home to 13,477 people.

    Cape Le Grand National Park is a national park in Western Australia, 631 km south-east of Perth and 56 km east of Esperance. The park covers an area of 31,801 hectares The area is an ancient landscape which has been above sea level for well over 200 million years and remained unglaciated. As a result, the area is home to many primitive relict species.Established in 1966, the park is managed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife. The name Le Grand is from one of the officers on L'Espérance, one of the ships in the 1792 expedition of Bruni d'Entrecasteaux.

The National Park is located 80 kilometres west of Esperance on the southern coast. A vehicle entry fee applies to Stokes National Park. The Park is named after Stokes Inlet, which lies within the park and is its best known feature. The area of the park is 9,726 hectares excluding 16 ha that is part of the historic Moir homestead.The park is mostly areas of coastal heath and scrubland, smaller areas of low dense forest and sandy beaches around the inlet and coast to the south of the park.     Cape Arid National Park is an Australian national park located in Western Australia, 731 kilometres southeast of Perth. The park is situated 120 kilometres east of Esperance and lies on shore from the eastern end of the Recherche Archipelago. The bay at its eastern side is Israelite Bay, a locality often mentioned in Bureau of Meteorology weather reports as a geographical marker. The western end is known as Duke of Orleans Bay. Its coastline is defined by Cape Arid, a bay called Sandy Bight and, further east, Cape Pasley.
