1. Cliffs of Moher - Come to this UNESCO Global Geopark to see its 700-foot cliffs and crashing waves. This spot on the Wild Atlantic Way ranks among Ireland's most visited natural attractions.
2. Killarney National Park - Ireland's oldest national park is home to its tallest mountain. It's easy to see why it's called “Jewel in Kerry’s crown.”
3. Giant’s Causeway - 40,000 basalt stone columns make up this UNESCO World Heritage site in Northern Ireland. The area is rich in both natural beauty and Irish mythology.
4. Glendalough - You'll find the remains of an early monastic settlement in the Valley of the Two Lakes. Tranquility rules in this forested glacial valley.
5. Connemara - Connemara is considered one of Ireland's most romantic regions. Its national park protects bogs, grasslands and woodlands.
6. Trinity College Library - This 18th century library in Dublin is a must for bookworms. It's famous Long Room houses some 200,000 old books in oak cases.
7. Cobh - The charming waterfront town of Cobh is known for its brightly colored houses. It's also the second-largest natural harbor in the world.
8. Dingle Peninsula - The gloriously green Dingle Peninsula is a highlight of the Wild Atlantic Way. Go there for the scenic drives and thriving Irish heritage.

The Rock of Cashel, Ireland (with Guided Tour)
The Rock of Cashel was one of my favorite places to visit in Ireland, not only because of its long history but also because it's surrounded by beautiful green pastures. The site was originally a royal residence in the 4th century and then was given to the Catholic Church in 1101. St. Patrick came here in 450 and brought Christianity to Ireland. The last bishop left here in 1749. There were many battles fought here, including some fought against the Vikings. The buildings here date from the 12th, 13th, and 15th centuries.

Great Irish Castles (Blarney, Dublin, Kilkenny, Ross, Rock of Cashel, Dunguaire)
We visited several castles during our 2 week tour of Ireland. There's some much great Irish history behind each one. I think my favorites were Blarney Castle, where we kissed the infamous Blarney Stone, Dublin Castle with its history as a royal residence, and the Rock of Cashel, which dates back 900 years.

Visit Kilkenny - What to See & Do in Kilkenny, Ireland
Kilkenny, Ireland is about an hour and a half from Dublin and well worth the drive or ride. If you are wondering what to see and do when you visit Kilkenny you will be pleasently surprised with the number of churches, historic sights and pubs to visit. From the 12th century castle, to the Irish music playing in the pubs to the Medieval Mile there are plenty of things to enjoy in Kilkenny. Not to mention the fresh Smithwick's beer!
