Cherryville is an unincorporated community in the foothills of the Monashee Mountains in British Columbia with a population of approximately 930. It is located 14 miles east of Lumby, along Highway 6. The small community of Cherryville was an old gold mining camp founded in the 1860s by prospectors from the California Gold Rush who had come north to the British Columbia gold rushes. Between 1863 and 1895, the original town that is now known as Cherryville was a small mining camp located within the canyon walls of Cherry Creek.     Big White Ski Resort, or simply Big White, is a ski resort located 56 km southeast of Kelowna in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. Located on Big White Mountain, the highest summit in the Okanagan Highland, an upland area between the Monashee Mountains and the Okanagan Valley, it is the third largest resort in British Columbia, after Whistler-Blackcomb and Sun Peaks. The mountain summit is at 2,319 m with a vertical drop of 777 m , serviced by 16 lifts. The mountain receives 750 cm of annual snowfall. It has 2,765 acres of overall skiable terrain.
