The Town of Collbran is a Statutory Town in Mesa County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 708 at the 2010 United States Census. Collbran is a part of the Grand Junction, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located east of Grand Junction along Plateau Creek, at the upper end of the small cattle ranching valley around the creek known as the Plateau Valley. The largest community in the valley, it serves a civic and economic center for the surrounding area, which is dependent not only ranching, but on pass-through tourism during the summer and autumn months. 1. Vega State Park Collbran
Vega State Park is a 1,823-acre Colorado state park in Mesa County, Colorado in the United States. Vega Reservoir is a fishing destination and is located at an elevation of 7,696 feet . Year-round recreational activities at Vega State Park include boating, hiking, snow mobiling and camping. The park was established in 1967 in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation which was responsible for the construction of Vega Dam and Vega Reservoir.

2. Rifle Falls Rifle
The City of Rifle is a Home Rule Municipality in Garfield County, Colorado, United States. The population was 9,172 at the 2010 census, up from 6,784 at the 2000 census. Rifle is a regional center of the cattle ranching industry located along Interstate 70 and the Colorado River just east of the Roan Plateau, which dominates the western skyline of the town. The town was founded in 1882 by Abram Maxfield, and was incorporated in 1905 along Rifle Creek, near its mouth on the Colorado. The community takes its name from the creek.

The Grand Mesa Colorado; CO Highway 65

A ride on Colorado Highway 65; from Orchard Colorado to De Beque, over the Grand Mesa. The weather was not ideal, but it was still a good ride and worth it. Perhaps I will do it again when the sun is out.

Nude climbing sculpture in downtown Silt, Colorado

Silt, Colorado is located about 280 kilometres (175 miles) west of Denver, Colorado along Interstate 70 on the west side of the Continental divide. There is no other town in the United States named Silt! This town got its name from a warning along railroad tracks that there was silt ahead! Later a town grew up in that same spot and needed a name...

Anyway, I drive by Silt on an average of about a dozen times each year, only occasionally stopping for a break or refreshment.

During the summer of 2009 Silt made national news for the unique climbing sculpture in the middle of the town roundabout. That sculpture prominently displays the naked bottom of a climber scaling a cliff - as you can plainly see in this video. After the national commotion died-down I stopped in town to see for myself and record this video.

From my point of view (so to speak!) the sculpture doesn't seem like a big deal but I hear people still hang trousers on the climber now and again! Oh, yes, my car did start out in the wrong gear in this video - it's hard to shift, drive, and video record all at the same time!
