It is named after the town of Wexford and was based on the historic Gaelic territory of Hy Kinsella , whose capital was Ferns. Wexford County Council is the local authority for the county. The population of the county is 149,605 according to the 2016 census.

    The Irish Rebellion of 1798 , also known as the United Irishmen Rebellion , was an uprising against British rule in Ireland lasting from May to September 1798. The United Irishmen, a republican revolutionary group influenced by the ideas of the American and French revolutions, were the main organising force behind the rebellion. It was led by Presbyterians angry at being shut out of power by the Anglican establishment; increasingly joined by Catholics who made up the majority of the population. Many Irish Protestants sided with the British, resulting in the conflict taking on the appearance of a sectarian civil war in many areas with frequent atrocities on both sides.     Enniscorthy, is the second-largest town in County Wexford, Ireland. At the 2016 census, the population of the town and environs increased 11,381. The Placenames Database of Ireland sheds no light on the origins of the town's name. It may refer either to the Island of Corthaidh or the Island of Rocks. With a history going back to 465, Enniscorthy is one of the longest continuously-occupied sites in Ireland. The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ferns is located in the town.

    The Ros Tapestry Project is a major community arts and history project centered on the town of New Ross in County Wexford, Ireland. The project is dedicated to producing a tapestry in fifteen panels which tells the story of the coming of the Normans to Ireland in the 12th century and the foundation of the port and town of New Ross at the beginning of the 13th century. Each tapestry panel is approximately four and a half feet deep by six feet wide and tells of a unique aspect of the epic story. Six panels were finished for an Exhibition in 2007 and a further six panels are now completed.

    Titanic: Honor and Glory is a video game, currently under development by Vintage Digital Revival, also known as Four Funnels Entertainment. The game will feature the most accurate digital representation of the RMS Titanic to date, as well as a model of the city of Southampton in 1912. The game is intended not only to be entertaining, but also a historical teaching tool, and a memorial to all those who lost their lives in the disaster. The project was originally funded through crowd funding on such sites as Indiegogo, however, during a podcast on April 10, 2015, director Thomas Lynskey announced that the team would move away from crowd funding in order to focus more on the game's development.
