Le Mars is a city in and the county seat of Plymouth County, Iowa, United States. It is located on the Floyd River and is northeast of Sioux City. The population was 9,826 at the 2010 census. Le Mars is the home of Wells Enterprises, Inc.,self proclaimed world's largest producer of ice cream novelties in one location and is the Ice Cream Capital of the World. Wells is best known for its Blue Bunny products.

    DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, created in 1958, is located along the banks of the Missouri River in the U.S. states of Iowa and Nebraska. The 8,362-acre refuge preserves an area that would have been otherwise lost to cultivation. In 1960, an Army Corps of Engineers channelization project on the Missouri River moved the main river channel in the area to the west. The former river channel became DeSoto Lake, a seven-mile long oxbow lake. As a result, part of the Nebraska portion of the refuge lies on the east side of the Missouri River.     Blue Mounds State Park is a state park of Minnesota, USA, in Rock County near the town of Luverne. It protects an American bison herd which grazes on one of the state's largest prairie remnants. The state park is named after a linear escarpment of Precambrian Sioux Quartzite bedrock, which although pink in color, is said to have appeared blueish in the distance to early settlers. Parts of the cliff are up to 100 feet high. Unusual in the surrounding prairie landscape, they are a popular site for rock climbing. The park also preserves a 1,250-foot-long line of rocks aligned by Plains Indians which marks where the sun rises and sets on the spring and fall equinoxes.
