Montfort is a town in the Dutch province of Limburg. Montfort has about 3,000 inhabitants. It lies about 8 km south of Roermond. It received city rights in 1271 and is renowned for the ruins of Castle Montfort, built in the 13th century. Until 1991, Montfort was a separate municipality. It then became part of Posterholt, which was later renamed Ambt Montfort.Since 1 January 2007, Montfort has been part of the municipality of Roerdalen.

GaiaZOO is a Dutch zoo located in Kerkrade. It opened in 2005 as GaiaPark with approximately 80 different species. As of 2014 the zoo hosts approximately 100 different species.

Safaripark Beekse Bergen is the largest wildlife zoo of the Benelux region and provides a home to approximately 1,250 animals from over 150 species, varying from small mammals to large birds. It is located between the cities of Tilburg and Hilvarenbeek in the south of the Netherlands. The visitors can for instance watch zebras and giraffes on the spacious savannahs. Safaripark Beekse Bergen offers the possibility to explore the park on numerous safaris: walksafari, carsafari, bussafari and boatsafari. The park is owned by the company Libéma Exploitatie BV, which is one of the largest leisure-related companies in the Netherlands. France’s Forgotten Castle

Nestled in the countryside sits an abandoned castle that was once the hub of French aristocratic parties. The Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers was first built in the 14th century as a stronghold for French nobles. In the Middle Ages, it was conquered by the British and devastated during the French Revolution, only to be eventually restored by relative of Napoleon III. Unfortunately, a violent fire in 1932 once again left the Château in ruins. While its fate remains uncertain, many efforts are being made to return the historic castle to its former glory.
