  • 1. Lartigue Monorail Listowel
    The Lartigue Monorail system was developed by the French engineer Charles Lartigue . He developed a horse drawn monorail system invented by Henry Robinson Palmer in 1821 further.The most famous Lartigue railway was the Listowel and Ballybunion Railway in Ireland. Another line, 17 km long, was built in 1895 between Feurs and Panissières, in the French département of Loire. Lartigue had seen camels in Algeria carrying heavy loads balanced in panniers on their backs. This inspired him to design a new type of railway. Instead of the conventional two parallel rails on the ground, it had a single rail sitting above the sand and held at waist height on A-shaped trestles.     The Waterford & Suir Valley Railway is a 3 ft railway gauge railway which operates on 10.5 km of track from Kilmeadan sharing much of the route with the Waterford Greenway. There are two halts built in 2017 at Mount Congreve and Bilberry on the outskirts of Waterford.

    The West Clare Railway originally operated in County Clare, Ireland between 1887 and 1961. This 3 ft narrow gauge railway ran from the county town of Ennis, via numerous stopping-points along the West Clare coast to two termini, at Kilrush and Kilkee, with the routes diverging at Moyasta Junction. The system was the last operating narrow gauge passenger system in Ireland and connected with the mainline rail system at Ennis, where a station still stands today for bus and train services to Limerick and Galway. Intermediate stops included Ennistymon, Lahinch and Milltown Malbay.
