City with no sun in winter : Rattenberg, Austria
With a population of only around 400 people, Rattenberg on the Inn River is the smallest city in Austria. It is noted for not receiving sun in winter because of the mountains to the south but the city owes its existence to these very mountains as it was located here due to the protection they afforded it. The castle and some of the houses date to the thirteenth century. One can today visit a museum of the town in the nail makers houses which are located below the castle and are the oldest dwellings in Rattenberg.
Vehicles are not allowed into the city (which is really a village) but there are large car parks outside and there is plenty of room for motorhomes there.
Rattenberg was noted for glass making, with one company manufacturing there for around 500 years. There are a number of shops selling glassware today.
In November 2005, the town announced they were building 30 specialized rotating mirrors called heliostats to reflect sunlight into parts of the town during the winter months. The EUR2 million project was the brainchild of Innsbruck based Bartenbach Lichtlabor GmbH, a lighting design company. The EU would have met half of the cost but presumably the remaining EUR1m was too much for 400 people to afford.
Nearby the Alpbachtal Seenland region offers a myriad of outdoor pursuits in both winter and summer.

Visitando Alpbachtal en Tirol, Austria Guía Turística
En este video los llevamos a conocer uno de los rincones más pintorescos en toda Austria: el valle de Alpbachtal ubicado en Tirol. Esta fue nuestra primera parada en Austria y quedamos encantados con las montañas, los pequeños pueblos, y la belleza de la naturaleza. Solo estuvimos 3 días en esta region pero lo disfrutamos a lo máximo probando platos típicos de la region, visitando los Alpes, y asistiendo el Almabtrieb, un famoso festival que celebra el regreso de la vacas después de haber pasado el verano en los Alpes. Nuestra visita habrá side corta, pero en este video les vamos a mostrar todo lo que ustedes también pueden hacer en esta parte de Tirol con solo 3 días.

- Tour en bicicleta eléctrica comenzando en Alpbach

Tercer día:
- Subida en gondola a Wiedersbergerhorn
- Tomando café en Dauerstoa Alm
- Desfile de vacas (Almabtrieb) en Reith im Alpbachtal
