Sauk Centre is a city in Stearns County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 4,317 at the 2010 census. It is the birthplace of Sinclair Lewis, a novelist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, and Sauk Centre served as the inspiration for Gopher Prairie, the fictional setting of Lewis's 1920 novel Main Street. Sauk Centre is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area.

1. Sinclair Lewis Avenue Sauk Centre
Harry Sinclair Lewis was an American novelist, short-story writer, and playwright. In 1930, he became the first writer from the United States to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, which was awarded for his vigorous and graphic art of description and his ability to create, with wit and humor, new types of characters. His works are known for their insightful and critical views of American capitalism and materialism between the wars. He is also respected for his strong characterizations of modern working women. H. L. Mencken wrote of him, [If] there was ever a novelist among us with an authentic call to the trade ... it is this red-haired tornado from the Minnesota wilds. He has been honored by the U.S. Postal Service with a postage stamp in the Great Americans series.

Sauk Visit August 2011

Sauk Elders visit their homeland — Saukenuk, home of Black Hawk — August 10, 2011. This was just part of a 7 day bus trip the elders took to see historic sites of their nation. Locals prepared a noon potluck for them and had a chance to share stories of this area whose history we share.

Minnesota Snowstorm , 2-21-14 . This video was made on Friday 2-21-14 in Minnesota . The storm totals of 10 to 12 inches were in the southeastern part of the state .Winds Gusts at or around 50 MPH were also reported on this day by local weather reports.
