The Southwest Region or South-West Region is a province of Cameroon. Its capital is Buea. As of 1987, its population was 838,042. Along with the Northwest Region, it is one of the two anglophone regions of Cameroon, and has long been a hotbed of separatist resentment against the perceived Francophone domination of the country. The region is divided into six divisions or departments: Fako, Koupé-Manengouba, Lebialem, Manyu, Meme, and Ndian. These are in turn broken down into subdivisions.
