Telemark [²teːləmɑrk] is a traditional region and county in Norway, bordering Vestfold, Buskerud, Hordaland, Rogaland and Aust-Agder. The name means the mark of the thelir, the ancient North Germanic tribe that inhabited what is now known as Upper Telemark in the Migration Period and the Viking Age. Historically the name Telemark only referred to Upper Telemark, while the coastal areas of the modern county were considered separate regions. The modern county was established as the fief Bratsberg in the late middle ages, during Norway's union with Denmark.     Heddal stave church is a stave church located at Heddal in Notodden municipality, Norway. The church is a triple nave stave church and is Norway's largest stave church. It was constructed at the beginning of the 13th century. After the reformation, the church was in a very poor condition, and a restoration took place during 1849–1851. However, because the restorers lacked the necessary knowledge and skills, yet another restoration was necessary in the 1950s. The interior is marked by the period after the Lutheran Reformation in 1536–1537 and is for a great part a result of the restoration that took place in the 1950s.

    Borgestad Manor is an estate and manor house in the municipality of Skien in Telemark. Norway. It is located in the former parish of Gjerpen near Porsgrunn. It is one of the largest estates in the region. It was originally Church property and was confiscated by the Crown following the Reformation and was sold to private owners in 1638. Its owners have included Anne Clausdatter , known from the poem Stolt Anne, and former Prime Minister Gunnar Knudsen .

    Eidsborg Stave Church is a stave church in Tokke, Telemark county, Norway.Eidsborg Stave Church is one of the best preserved Norwegian stave churches. Eidsborg Stave Church is located next to the Vest-Telemark Museum in Eidsborg. The church is estimated to date to between 1250-1300. The church is dedicated to the traveller's patron, St. Nicholas of Bari. It was partly reconstructed in the 19th century. The chorus was demolished in 1826. The new choir dates to the period 1845-50. The reconstruction work did not affect the structure or the shape of the church. It was restored in 1927 when painted figures and ornaments dating from the Renaissance and old murals from the 17th century were revealed.

    Seljord is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Vest-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Seljord. The parish of Siljord was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 . Seljord is famous for its sea serpent, Selma, who allegedly lives in Lake Seljord . The yearly Dyrsku'n market, held since 1866, attracts 60–80,000 visitors each year. The large fair started as a show of farm animals. Today it includes a huge market with vendors selling a variety of goods including base layer clothing, Bergans outdoors equipment, crafts, and food. Amusement rides are also featured.
