    Tiveden National Park is a national park situated in the Tiveden forest in the municipalities of Laxå and Karlsborg , in the historical province of Västergötland in Sweden.     Degerfors is a locality and the seat of Degerfors Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden, with 7,160 inhabitants in 2010. Degerfors has traditionally been an industrial community closely connected to the large ironworks. The settlement grew up around this industry and got the status of a municipalsamhälle in 1912. Today it acts as seat of the larger Degerfors Municipality. Degerfors is famous for its successful football team Degerfors IF and for hosting the site of Sveafallen, a geological landscape of small canyons and giant's kettles.

    The Göta Canal is a Swedish canal constructed in the early 19th century. It formed the backbone of a waterway stretching some 614 km , linking a number of lakes and rivers to provide a route from Gothenburg on the west coast to Söderköping on the Baltic Sea via the river Göta älv and the Trollhätte kanal, through the large lakes Vänern and Vättern. The canal itself is 190 km long, of which 87 km were dug or blasted, with a width varying between 7–14 m and a maximum depth of about 3 m . It has 58 locks and can accommodate vessels up to 32 m long, 7 m wide and 2.8 m in draft. Göta Canal is a sister canal of Caledonian Canal in Scotland, which was also constructed by Thomas Telford.

The Norwegian part of the massif is protected by Norway's Fulufjellet National Park.     Kolmården Wildlife Park is a zoo that opened in 1965 overlooking Bråviken bay in Sweden. It is the largest zoo in Scandinavia, includes the first dolphinarium in Scandinavia, which opened in 1969 and has daily shows, and the worlds first cable car safari.
