The Pier Cam allows you to check what the weather looks like and take a peek at where the tide is before stepping foot outside.
▷ Visit Crescent Beach for a fun day on the seaside! Enjoy swimming, beach volleyball and scenic views from the pier and nature trails. The best beach access points are found on Beecher Street, Sullivan Street, and Target Street. At Sullivan Point, you will find spots to play beach volleyball and a large grassy area ideal for a blanket picnic.
▷ Blackie Spit Park is a stunning City park located in the Crescent Beach neighbourhood of South Surrey. The park is named after the dramatic spit that extends into Mud Bay at the mouth of the Nicomekl River.
Blackie Spit has amazing views of Mud Bay and the north shore mountain. Blackie Spit also offers some of the best bird watching areas in Canada, with almost 200 species of birds recorded in a calendar year. The sandy spit, surrounded by tidal marsh and eelgrass beds, is an important stop for migrating and wintering waterfowl and shorebirds, as they make their way up and down the coastline of North and South America. Fall migrants start arriving in late August and September. Spring migrants start arriving in mid-March, and are generally gone by the end of May.
Blackie Spit Park is also a great place to see aquatic mammals. Harbour seals and their pups love to rest on the sandbars. The Park is managed as a wildlife conservation area so habitat enhancement activities are ongoing throughout the park.
▷ Surrey is a city in British Columbia, Canada. It’s part of the Metro Vancouver area and lies between the Fraser River and the U.S. border. In Peace Arch Provincial Park, a white arch marks the international boundary between Canada and the U.S. On Boundary Bay, the Ocean Point Shoreline Walk curls along Crescent Beach. Migrating birds gather at Blackie Spit. The Historic Stewart Farm is a late-1800s pioneer home.
