Recent research about Clare of Assisi has confirmed some former scholarly opinions and upended others about this historical figure. Fully committed to Francis of Assisi’s religious program, she helped forge a new form of women’s religious life that transformed traditional monasticism via a more radical poverty, a consensual style of community life, and an insistence that she and her sisters belonged to the Franciscan movement as fully as Francis’s friars. In this presentation Mooney discusses highlights of her recent book on Clare of Assisi’s and her allies’ struggles and shares her current research on how Clare, after her death, was transformed into a Saint whose image was manipulated to reflect the varying agendas of popes, friars, artists, and others.

One Brooklyn- St. Francis of Assisi Manuscripts Press Conference
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams announced a historic exhibition at Brooklyn Borough Hall of numerous 12th- and 13th-century manuscripts from St. Francis of Assisi, one of the most significant figures in the history of organized religion; Pope Francis, who is scheduled to visit New York City next year, took his papal name in honor of his commitment to the poor. This is the first time these artifacts have left Italy in 700 years, and it is currently the only scheduled opportunity for the public to view these documents in the United States; they have been on private display at the United Nations since mid-November. Interest in viewing the exhibition has come from across the country as well as abroad, with many planning special visits to Brooklyn to take advantage of this unique cultural opportunity.

San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco is about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) in area. It is located on the north end of the San Francisco Peninsula. It is the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,451 people per square mile (7,124 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2015 population of 864,816.]The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB-designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.7 million.
San Francisco (Spanish for Saint Francis) was founded on June 29, 1776, when colonists from Spain established Presidio of San Francisco at the Golden Gate and Mission San Francisco de Asís named for St. Francis of Assisi a few miles away.[8] The California Gold Rush of 1849 brought rapid growth, making it the largest city on the West Coast at the time. San Francisco became a consolidated city-county in 1856. After three-quarters of the city was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire, San Francisco was quickly rebuilt, hosting the Panama-Pacific International Exposition nine years later. In World War II, San Francisco was the port of embarkation for service members shipping out to the Pacific Theater. After the war, the confluence of returning servicemen, massive immigration, liberalizing attitudes, along with the rise of the hippie counterculture, the Sexual Revolution, the Peace Movement growing from opposition to United States involvement in the Vietnam War, and other factors led to the Summer of Love and the gay rights movement, cementing San Francisco as a center of liberal activism in the United States. Politically, the city votes strongly along liberal Democratic Party lines.

STORYLINE:
The people of the southern Italian city of Naples are getting ready for Christmas in the one way they know best: shopping.
After church on Sunday, crowds flock in their thousands from far and wide to Via Saint Gregorio Armeno, a narrow street in the historical heart of town.
In its simplest form, the Nativity shows the baby Jesus in a manger, with the Virgin Mary and Joseph looking on in adoration. Devoutly Catholic Italians throng to Naples each festive season to buy new figures to update their Nativity sets, adding a shepherd or a king to the family scene.

Women Surviving Homelessness Part One - Flying Focus Video Collective
Part 1 of 2 | Flying Focus Video Collective presents: Women Surviving Homelessness Part One.
Women Surviving Homelessness documents the moving book release event for
No Room of Her Own: Women's Stories of Homelessness, Life, Death and
Resistance. The book's author, Desiree Hellegers, associate professor of
English and a founding co-director of the Center for Social and
Environmental Justice at Washington State University Vancouver, spoke along with six narrator-activists whose stories are featured in the book.
The narrators Arnette Adams, Anitra Freeman, Debra Martinson, Jessie Pedro and Delores Loann Winston, are involved in various efforts for social change in Seattle.
For example, Seattle's Women in Black has stood vigil for more than four hundred people who have died homeless in one of the most livable cities in the United States.
The women read from the book last April at the book launch held at the St. Francis Dining Hall in Portland, coordinated by the Center for Social and Environmental Justice.
David Barsamian, Founder and Director of Alternative Radio, wrote:No Room of Her Own breaks the silences surrounding the national disgrace of homelessness. These women must be heard.

UNVEILING THE GREAT APOSTASY 2016: Pope Francis Sets New Vision For Catholics
UNVEILING THE GREAT APOSTASY 2016: Pope Francis Sets New Vision For Catholics
Many things are happening now showing a massive falling away from the faith. Pope Francis is leading this effort. We have seen his infiltration of several events in the United States including Together 2016. But there are other events, including Word Explosion Kingdom Come 2016, and The Gathering 2016. Pope Francis' vassal, Nick Hall, appears to behind both Together 2016 and The Gathering 2016. The Gathering is around the time of the construction of the Arch of Triumph, also known as the Triumphal Arch or Arch of Palmyra, in New York City (which will be erected around September 19-21, though this is subject to change).

COMMUNICATING THE CHURCH IN THE AGE OF FRANCIS
So dramatic has been Francis’s impact on perceptions of the papacy and the Catholic Church that down on New York’s Madison Ave, advertising agencies ask: “who’s he using?” Yet Francis’s great reform is not a skill or strategy as much as a discernment: that what a cold, technocratic age needs above all now is to know of God’s mercy and closeness, which the Church must at all costs incorporate to be credible. Francis’s radical recontextualization of the Catholic message through a “pastoral conversion” has delighted and infuriated Catholics, while leaving journalists and commentators to grapple with vast new challenges.
AUSTEN IVEREIGH is a British writer, journalist and commentator on Catholic and political affairs who appears often on TV and radio. He is founder-coordinator of Catholic Voices, a project now in more than 20 countries worldwide, and contributing editor of Crux, the U.S. news site founded by John Allen. He holds a D.Phil. in history and politics from Oxford University. Ivereigh is author of the books The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope (Henry Holt/Picador 2014), and of the bestselling How to Defend the Faith Without Raising Your Voice: Civil Responses to Catholic Hot-button Issues (Our Sunday Visitor, 2012 & 2015). He served as deputy editor of the Catholic weekly, The Tablet, and worked as public affairs director for the late Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor. He went on to be director of a London-based immigration campaign, ‘Strangers into Citizens’, based on Catholic social teaching.

Hawaiian nun's cause for sainthood jumps forward with second miracle
July 18, 2011. (Romereports.com) The cause for sainthood of Blessed Hawaiian nun Marianne Cope has received Vatican approval of a second miracle. A group of doctors from the Vatican's Congregation for Causes of Saints declared there is no medical explanation for the cure of a woman who was on her deathbed and made a miraculous recovery.
No other details on the case have been released.
Before moving to Hawaii in 1883 to help care for those suffering with leprosy, Marianne Cope worked as a member of the Sisters of St. Francis in Syracuse, New York. Her cause for beatification has been taken up there.
The miracle approved on June 16 must undergo two more examinations by theologians and a group of cardinals before being presented to the pope for approval. She could then be declared a saint.
Mother Marianne Cope, christened Maria Anna Barbara Koob (1838--1918), was a Franciscan nun of the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis, a religious order of the Roman Catholic Church. Born in Heppenheim (Germany) and entered religious life in Syracuse, New York, she worked, lived and died for the lepers on the island of Molokaʻi in Hawaiʻi. Despite close contact with the patients over several years, she was not herself afflicted by the disease, considered by some to be miraculous.
Mother Marianne was the first person beatified by Pope Benedict XVI and raised to the title of Blessed Marianne of Molokaʻi, awaiting canonization into sainthood. Her feast day is January 23 celebrated by her followers, especially her religious order, the Diocese of Honolulu, and the Diocese of Syracuse.
Mother Marianne was born January 23, 1838 in Heppenheim in the Grand Duchy of Hesse (modern-day Germany) to Peter Koob (1787-1862) and Barbara Witzenbacher Koob (1803-1872). At the age of one her family moved to the United States, settling in Utica, New York. As a young adult she was a factory worker in Utica. After her father died when she was twenty-four she felt free enough of family responsibility to follow her religious vocation, and she chose the name Marianne, as a Sister of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
She spent nearly a decade as a teacher and then principal in newly established schools for German immigrants. She was also a founding member of two of the first Catholic hospitals in the United States, both of which were initiated by her religious community in the 1860s. She directed one of the hospitals, St. Joseph's, the first from Convent of St. Anthony in Syracuse, New York from 1870-1877. These experiences helped her to prepare for a special ministry in New York.
In November 1883, Mother Marianne, then Provincial Mother, traveled from Syracuse to Honolulu with six other nuns to answer a call for aid to the Hansen's disease (leprosy) sufferers by King David Kalākaua. She responded to the letter asking for her help, enthusiastically:
I am hungry for the work and I wish with all my heart to be one of the chosen Ones, whose privilege it will be, to sacrifice themselves for the salvation of the souls of the poor Islanders... I am not afraid of any disease, hence it would be my greatest delight even to minister to the abandoned 'lepers.'
With Mother Marianne as supervisor, their task was to manage Kakaʻako Branch Hospital on Oʻahu, which served as a receiving station for Hansen's disease patients gathered from all over the islands. Here the more severe cases were processed and shipped to the island of Molokaʻi for confinement at the settlement at Kalawao, and then later at Kalaupapa. She was bestowed the honor Companion of the Royal Order of Kapiolani by King Kalakaua in 1883 for her acts of benevolence to his suffering people.
In November 1888, she moved to Kalaupapa to help the ailing Father Damien of Molokaʻi. Banker Charles Reed Bishop donated money for a new home for girls; Cope and two assistants, Leopoldina Burns and Sister Vincentia McCormick, established and ran the girls school. When the priest died, Mother Marianne Cope took over the care of the boys of Kalaupapa as well. She died August 9, 1918 and was buried at the home.
In 1924, Saint Francis Convent in Honolulu was founded in her memory to train nurses to work with Hansen's disease patients. It is now Saint Francis School, which is a school for girls in grades 6-9. In 1927, the order opened a hospital in Honolulu.

New Pope or Old Dope?
I will not have hope from this Pope until I hear and see the following
Pope Francis, giving his clearest indication yet that he wants a more austere Catholic Church, said on Saturday that it should be poor and remember that its mission is to serve the poor. Francis, speaking mostly off-the-cuff and smiling often, made his comments in an audience for journalists where he explained why he chose to take the name Francis, after St. Francis of Assisi, a symbol of peace, austerity and poverty. He called Francis 'the man who gives us this spirit of peace, the poor man, and added: 'Oh, how I would like a poor Church, and for the poor.' -- REUTERS/Osservatore Romano March 16, 2013
The Vatican has large investments with the Rothschilds of Britain, France and America, with the Hambros Bank, with the Credit Suisse in London and Zurich. In the United States it has large investments with the Morgan Bank, the Chase-Manhattan Bank, the First National Bank of New York, the Bankers Trust Company, and others. The Vatican has billions of shares in the most powerful international corporations such as Gulf Oil, Shell, General Motors, Bethlehem Steel, General Electric, International Business Machines, T.W.A., etc. At a conservative estimate, these amount to more than 500 million dollars in the U.S.A. alone.
The Catholic Church, must be the biggest corporation in the United States. We have a branch office in every neighborhood. Our assets and real estate holdings must exceed those of Standard Oil, A.T.&T., and U.S. Steel combined. And our roster of dues-paying members must be second only to the tax rolls of the United States Government. … The Catholic church is the biggest financial power, wealth accumulator and property owner in existence. She is a greater possessor of material riches than any other single institution, corporation, bank, giant trust, government or state of the whole globe. The pope, as the visible ruler of this immense amassment of wealth, is consequently the richest individual of the twentieth century. No one can realistically assess how much he is worth in terms of billions of dollars. -- The Vatican Billions, Avro Manhattan, 1983
The Christian use the word Father (in Italian, Pope) for God. And the same Christians call their clergymen Father too. Can't you imagine Satan pleased with them with a huge smirk on its face? Why would anyone call God pope/father and the chief clown pope/father? It must be the effect of the holy smoke and all the silly rituals and hoopla. It must be the effect of the mass hypnosis, or carnival spirit.
The crimes committed by Vatican against humanity since its start is horrendous. Vatican never stood against colonialism and imperialism of our times; it never stood against big corporations who care less about humanity; to the contrary, it always allied itself with the most powerful global bullies.
Let's forget its past crimes of Crusades, inquisition, witch-hunting, baptizing colonialism… Let's forget its promotion of idolworship and violation of the first two commandments. Let's see it in our time. This institution did not stand against the illegal occupation of Iraq and the killing of more than a million humans there. It did not stand against Israeli aggression and atrocities against Palestinians, as it should be. It did not fight against big corporations that exploit the natural and human resources of the world, that pollute the air, the land and the sea, thereby inflicting major environmental damage to our world. It covered up endemic and epidemic pedophilia among its ranks. While preaching the world about abstinence the church leaders engaged in sexual abuse and cover up.
Of course, to promote its image, this corrupt and wicked institution does spend a fraction of its income to feed a few hungry people here and there, and promotes some vintage social causes; yet it usually fails. For instance, its historic position of banning divorce in the name of God have not stopped Catholics from divorce, which ranges between 25% and 35% depending how you interpret the statistics; not much different than the rate for general public. Furthermore, unlike for the general public, this fabricated rule leads religious Catholics to commit an act of hypocrisy by engaging in a holy trick called annulment. Another of many sins of the Vatican is another fabricated canon in the name of God: prohibition of contraception. This crime alone is sufficient to declare Vatican as the enemy of humanity, since the increasing world population is a ticking clock for major disasters around the world; from mass hunger to major wars for water and natural resources.

Places to see in ( Santa Fe - USA )
Santa Fe, New Mexico’s capital, sits in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. It’s renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and as a creative arts hotbed. Founded as a Spanish colony in 1610, it has at its heart the traditional Plaza. The surrounding historic district’s crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks including the Palace of the Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum.
Santa Fe , founded in 1607, is the capital of the state of New Mexico in the United States. With an elevation of 7000 feet, it is not only the United States' oldest state capital but its highest. Its population of about 70,000, doesn't make it the most populous capital, but that's part of its charm. Santa Fe is consistently rated one of the world's top travel destinations for its confluence of scenic beauty, long history (at least by US standards), cultural diversity, and extraordinary concentration of arts, music and fine dining.
Santa Fe was once the capital of Spain's, and then Mexico's, territories north of the Rio Grande, but its visible history extends far beyond the arrival of the Spanish; it is thought to have been the site of Puebloan villages that had already been long abandoned by the time the Spanish arrived in 1607. It became the state capital when the territory of New Mexico achieved statehood in 1912.
In the early 20th century, the area attracted a number of artists, such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. The region remains important on America's art scene. It is the third largest art market in America, behind New York City and Los Angeles, which is pretty impressive considering Santa Fe's population relative to NYC and LA. The arrival of Igor Stravinsky and the founding of the Santa Fe Opera, one of the world's leading opera companies, had a similarly invigorating and enduring influence on the musical community. Many people go to Santa Fe for spiritual gatherings and to practice meditative arts at the many spas and resorts that are in and around Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is rooted in paradoxes. On the one hand, it is one of the United States' oldest cities (by some reckonings the oldest), and many residents can trace their roots and property holdings in town back to the 17th century. On the other hand, it has also been the target of a teeming influx of wealthy immigrants in the last 30 years or so that has spurred a great deal of new construction and created inflated prices for real estate -- and drastically elevated taxes on old family properties, many of which are owned by families that can't afford the taxes. The tension between new and old, rich and poor, etc are a persistent undercurrent in the community. These and other factors (not the least of which is a well-deserved reputation as a haven for flamboyant characters) contribute to Santa Fe's uniqueness.
