More on Hudson Yards Development (from Wikipedia):
Hudson Yards is a real estate development in the Chelsea and Hudson Yards neighborhoods of Manhattan, New York City. It is the largest private real estate development in the United States by square footage. Upon completion, 13 of the 16 planned structures on the West Side of Midtown South would sit on a platform built over the West Side Yard, a storage yard for Long Island Rail Road trains. The first of its two phases comprises a public green space and eight structures that contain residences, a hotel, office buildings, a mall, and a cultural facility. It opened to the public on March 15, 2019. The second focuses on residential space, along with an office building and a school. Construction has not begun on the second phase.
The site of Hudson Yards was initially intended for other developments, most notably in the early 2000s as the site of the West Side Stadium, during the New York City bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The plans for Hudson Yards were developed after the failure of the West Side Stadium. Construction began in 2012 with the groundbreaking for 10 Hudson Yards, and the first phase opened on March 15, 2019. Both phases are projected to be complete by 2024. Agreements between various entities including the local government, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and the state of New York made the development possible.

What is the Best Metro/Subway System in North America?
The debate that plays on many subway videos: which subway system is the best? In this case let us look at North America - what is your favorite system and why? Comment below.
Which city in Asia has the best metro system? Share your opinion here!
Included are 16 systems within North America that I have been to and filmed. Wikipedia was used to provide data such as daily ridership, length, number of stations, opening year, and interesting facts. Please note that ridership can vary depending on the year and the years used for ridership are not consistent for this video.
As pointed out Vancouver was left out: I originally did not think of it as a metro but on closer thought it should be in the list since it shares a lot of characteristics of one.
What constitutes a subway or metro is also challenging as some systems do not have the traditional characteristics of a subway. Based on what Wikipedia claims and whether the trains resemble an actual subway train: the following metro/subway systems where used for this video: Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago, San Juan, Los Angeles, Toronto, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami, Atlanta, Cleveland, PATH (New Jersey), Mexico City and Montreal.
-Since San Juan is part of the United States it is counted as a system in North America.
-data is up to date for 2018 - there are expansions happening across many systems in North America and thus stations, system length, and ridership is subject to change (but perhaps that is why you like the system? Because its expanding?).

New York City 4K - 1830's Manhattan Tunnel - Driving Downtown USA
The Park Avenue Tunnel (opened 1834; 184 years ago), also called the Murray Hill Tunnel, is a 1,600-foot-long (488 m) tunnel that passes under seven blocks of Park Avenue in Murray Hill, in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Traffic currently goes northbound from 33rd Street toward the Park Avenue Viaduct. The tunnel is under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Transportation, and carries one lane of northbound car traffic from East 33rd Street to East 40th Street; from 40th Street north, traffic must follow the Park Avenue Viaduct around Grand Central Terminal to 46th Street. The vertical clearance is 8 ft 11 in (2.72 m).
In Popular Culture
Parts of the 1998 movie Godzilla were filmed in the tunnel. Toward the end of the film, Godzilla chases the film's main characters into the tunnel, but is later lured back into the open toward the neighboring Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge is actually around 3 miles (4.8 km) from the tunnel.

New York City 4K - Hudson Yards - Driving Downtown - USA
With $18 Billion dollars in funding, Hudson Yards is a real estate development under construction in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It is the largest private real estate development in the United States by square footage. Upon completion, 13 of the 16 planned structures will sit on a platform built over the West Side Yard, a storage yard for Long Island Rail Road trains. The first of its two phases comprises a public green space and eight structures that contain residences, a hotel, office buildings, a mall, and a cultural facility. The second focuses on residential space, along with an office building and a school.
Related Companies is the primary developer, and Oxford Properties is a major equity partner. Mitsui Fudosan owns a 92.09 percent stake in 55 Hudson Yards, and a 90 percent stake in 50 Hudson Yards. The architectural firm Kohn Pederson Fox designed the master plan for the site, and architects including Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, Thomas Heatherwick, Roche-Dinkeloo, and Diller Scofidio + Renfro contributed designs for individual structures. Major office tenants include or will include fashion company Coach, consulting firm BCG, and Alphabet subsidiary Sidewalk Labs.
Construction began in 2012 with the groundbreaking for 10 Hudson Yards and estimates suggest both phases should end by 2024. Agreements between various entities including the local government, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and the state of New York made the development possible. The special zoning for Hudson Yards (an area roughly bound by 30th Street in the south, 41st Street in the north, 11th Avenue in the west, and Eighth Avenue in the east) further incentivized the building of other large-scale projects. Hudson Yards is adjacent but unrelated to Manhattan West, 3 Hudson Boulevard, and The Spiral.
The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. The High Line’s design is a collaboration between James Corner Field Operations (Project Lead), Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf. The abandoned spur has been redesigned as a living system drawing from multiple disciplines which include landscape architecture, urban design, and ecology. Since opening in 2009, the High Line has become an icon of contemporary landscape architecture.
The park is built on a disused, southern viaduct section of the New York Central Railroad line known as the West Side Line. Originating in the Lower West Side of Manhattan, the park runs from Gansevoort Street – three blocks below 14th Street, in the Meatpacking District – through Chelsea to the northern edge of the West Side Yard on 34th Street near the Javits Center. The West Side Line formerly extended south to a railroad terminal at Spring Street, just north of Canal Street, and north to 35th Street at the site of the Javits Center. Most of the viaduct's southern section was demolished in 1960, and the section north of 34th Street was demolished and reconfigured in 1981. Another small portion was demolished in 1991. The High Line was inspired by the 3-mile-long (4.8 km) Promenade plantée (tree-lined walkway), a similar project in Paris which was completed in 1993.
Because of declining usage, the railway viaduct was effectively abandoned in 1980. Repurposing the railway into an urban park began in 2006, with the first phase opening in 2009 and the second phase opening in 2011. The third and final phase opened to the public on September 21, 2014. A short stub above Tenth Avenue and 30th Street will open by 2018, when the first phase of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project is complete.
The High Line's success has inspired cities throughout the United States to redevelop obsolete infrastructure as public space. The project has spurred real estate development in adjacent neighborhoods, increasing real-estate values and prices along the route in an example of the halo effect. As of September 2014, the park had nearly five million visitors annually.

Manhattan Subway Explosion (U.S)
On Monday the 11th of December 2017, At about 7.20am, an improvised device exploded in the subway passageway between transport hubs under Times Square & the Port Authority, at 42nd St & 8th Ave in midtown Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States of America.
Police arrested an injured 27 year old man, Akayed Ullah, NYPD commissioner James O’Neill said. Ullah was found at the site of the blast with burns & the remains of “an improvised, low-tech” pipe-bomb style device, he said.
Three people aside from the suspect suffered minor injuries, the fire department said.
“This was an attempted terrorist attack,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. Asked about claims of connection to the terror group Isis, O’Neill said that the suspect “did make statements but we’re not going to talk about that right now”. O’Neill would not say whether the suspect detonated the device deliberately or it went off accidentally.
Transit authorities promised that subway & bus service, with the exception of the crime scene itself, would resume full service by rush hour Monday evening.
Police declined to discuss the background of the suspect, & said nothing about what he might have said to police.
The suspect is man from Brooklyn, east Flatbush area, Investigators are on the way to his home, for further investigations.
Law enforcement officials tell the Associated Press that Akayed Ullah was inspired by the Islamic State Group, but apparently had no direct contact with the terrorist group. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the suspect or incident.
The suspect had burns on his abdomen & also to his hands. Three others suffered minor injuries, including headaches & ringing in the ears.
Opinion: Authority response, Lull to sleep the obedient workers.
Go Back to Bed America:
Reports of New Yorkers frightened or panicked by the explosion are greatly exaggerated, Jamiles Lartey relays.
“It’s the subway, you know,” commuter Shaun Henderson said. “New Yorkers are used to this. The F train doesn’t need a pipe bomb to be fucked up.”
New York has quickly returned to its normal rhythm of work and tourism – not to mention frustration at the normal subway delays – but as investigators look into the background of the suspect, Bill de Blasio’s office has been keen to reassure residents and visitors to the city.
The Port Authority, the midtown bus hub used by millions of commuters, has already reopened.

NYC Subway and Buses
The transportation system of New York City is a cooperation of complex systems of infrastructure. New York City, being the largest city in the United States, has a transportation system which includes the largest subway system in the world, measured by track mileage; the world's first mechanically ventilated vehicular tunnel, and an aerial tramway. Through prolonged use, and a distinct history of events, the infrastructure now faces increasing problems in functionality, dependability, and funding.

USA: NEW YORK: CONSTRUCTION WORKERS STAGE PROTEST
English/Nat
Tens of thousands construction workers strangled the morning rush-hour in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday.
The marchers were protesting about the awarding of a non-union contract for a transit project in New York.
Watched by mounted police in riot gear, they spilled onto Fifth Avenue, blowing whistles, waving flags and chanting.
Pedestrian and motor traffic came to a standstill as huge demonstration marched near Grand Central Station toward a construction site at 54th Street and Ninth Avenue.
But police blocked them from going further, prompting some bottle throwing.
Many protesters carried banners identifying themselves as masons, carpenters, roofers and other construction traders.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's a taxpayer issue. They don't train their people. They'll take somebody off the street and they will make him a labourer. The next day they will make him an electrician, the next day they will make him a tin knocker. We go to school for five years to learn our trade. You get your dollars for it. They are paying the same rate that they have to pay for us. They might as well get somebody who has been trained to the do the job. We want a fair bank for our dollars. These people don't have any training, don't have any responsibility.
SUPER CAPTION: Tom Tighe, Union Worker, Local 9-Plumbers and Pipe fitters
City authorities said the crowd numbered about 40-thousand at its peak.
Some shops and offices were forced to open late because their employees couldn't get to work through the crowd.
The demonstrators accused the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of awarding work to a contractor who used non-union help.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's all City money being used. Taxpayers money - my money. And I have got to feed my family and everything.
SUPER CAPTION: Bob Carroll, Union Worker, Local 46 - Ironworker
Scores of police vans and horses were at the scene and police helicopters hung overhead.
As the march grew more rowdy, more than 100 police in riot gear began cutting through the noisy, chanting mob on Ninth Avenue.
Some of them said police used pepper spray and mace before handcuffing them and putting them in a police van.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
The horses stormed in to move everybody out of the street and, I don't know - they just started spraying and swinging night sticks and getting everybody out of the street. One cop was pushing me. I told him to get off me - don't touch me - and he took out his mace and sprayed me in the eyes.
SUPER CAPTION: Steven Archipinti, Union Worker, Local 2287
Many businesses and offices near the demonstration opened late because of the crowds and police blocked workers from entering their buildings.
More than 20 minor injuries were reported.
A half-dozen protesters were arrested.

New York photo Grand Central Terminal
Grand Central Terminal (GCT; also referred to as Grand Central Station) is a commuter (and former intercity) railroad terminal at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. Built by and named for the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad in the heyday of American long-distance passenger rail travel, it covers 48 acres (19 ha) and has 44 platforms, more than any other railroad station in the world. Its platforms, all below ground, serve 41 tracks on the upper level and 26 on the lower, though the total number of tracks along platforms and in rail yards exceeds 100.
The terminal serves commuters traveling on the Metro-North Railroad to Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties in New York State, and Fairfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut. Until 1991, the terminal served Amtrak, which moved to nearby Pennsylvania Station upon completion of the Empire Connection. The East Side Access project is underway to bring Long Island Rail Road service to the terminal.
Grand Central Terminal has intricate designs both on its inside and outside. In addition, it contains a vast interior main concourse. The terminal is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, with 21.9 million visitors in 2013.
Unlike other Metro-North stations, Grand Central Terminal is not owned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, but by a private company known as Midtown TDR Ventures.
The tracks are numbered according to their location in the terminal building. The upper-level tracks are numbered 11 to 42 east to west. Tracks 22 and 31 were removed in the late 1990s to build concourses for Grand Central North. Track 12 was removed to expand the platform between tracks 11 and 13 and track 14 is only used for loading a garbage train. The lower level has 27 tracks, numbered 100 to 126, east to west; currently, only tracks 102–112, and 114–116 are used for passenger service. Odd-numbered tracks are usually on the east side (right side facing north) of the platform; even-numbered tracks on the west.
Grand Central Terminal has both monumental spaces and meticulously crafted detail, especially on its facade.[6] In a February 2013 BBC News article, historian David Cannadine described it as one of the most majestic buildings of the twentieth century.[7] In 2013, Grand Central Terminal hosted 21.6 million visitors, putting it among the ten most-visited tourist attractions in the world.[8]
Its interior has restaurants, such as the Oyster Bar, and various fast food outlets surrounding the Dining Concourse on the level below the Main Concourse, as well as delis, bakeries, newsstands, a gourmet and fresh food market, an annex of the New York Transit Museum, and more than 40 retail stores. Among them are chain stores, including a Starbucks coffee shop, a Rite Aid pharmacy and, as of December 2011, an Apple Store.[9][10] Other chain restaurants include a Shake Shack.[11][12]
Grand Central Terminal's 49 acres (20 ha) basements are among the largest in the city.[13] This includes M42, a secret sub-basement under the terminal that contains the AC to DC converters used to supply DC traction current to the tracks. The exact location of M42 is a closely guarded secret and does not appear on maps, though it has been shown on the History Channel program Cities of the Underworld and a National Geographic special. Two of the original rotary converters were not removed in the late 20th century when solid-state ones took over their job, and they remain as a historical record. During World War II, this facility was closely guarded because its sabotage would have impaired troop movement on the Eastern Seaboard.[13][14][15] It is said that any unauthorized person entering the facility during the war risked being shot on sight; the rotary converters could have easily been crippled by a bucket of sand.[16] Abwehr (a German espionage service) sent two spies to sabotage it; they were arrested by the FBI before they could strike.[13]
The terminal is made primarily from granite. In fact, so much granite is used that the building emits relatively high levels of radiation.[17]
Midtown TDR Ventures has owned the station since 2006, when Argent Ventures transferred ownership of the station.[18] The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state agency that is the parent of Metro-North, holds a lease until 2274
