50 THINGS TO DO IN NEW YORK CITY | Top Attractions Travel Guide
Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Ann Hamilton
Ann Hamilton presented a lecture on her nearly 30-year career as part of the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Lecture Series at the National Gallery of Art on September 16, 2011. Hamilton has made multimedia installations with stunning qualities and quantities of materials: a room lined with small canvas dummies, a table spread with human and animal teeth, the artist herself wearing a man's suit covered in a layer of thousands of toothpicks. Along the way, she has constantly set and reset the course of contemporary art. Often using sound, found objects, and the spoken and written word, as well as photography and video, her objects and environments invite us to embark on sensory and metaphorical explorations of time, language, and memory. Textiles and fabric have consistently played an important role in her performances and installations—whether she is considering clothing as a membrane or (more recently) treating architecture itself as a kind of skin. The Gallery owns 15 works by the artist, including photographs, prints, sculptures, and a video installation.

Previous Episodes of Tattoo Talk:
This week I was approached by my dear friend who was turned down at a blood drive for having tattoos done in an under regulated state. After doing some research I found out that there are quite a few states that have relaxed regulations about tattooing/piercings/cosmetic tattoos, which results in the Red Cross refusing donations from people tattooed in these states for up to a year. In today's episode I explore why these laws are in place, and the confusion they cause.

CJay Halloween Venetian Way 2009
Halloween Painting Party by CJay at apartment complex. ----
CJay was born in the Bronx, New York. He became interested in graffiti art at a young age, and began experimenting with spray cans and airbrushes not long after. Always wanting to make a living from his art, at the age of twelve he began painting t-shirts at local flea markets, and soon after expanded his art to walls, cars, clothes.anything with a paintable surface.
It was at the High School of Art & Design in NYC that I really began to fully appreciate what it meant to be an artist. Being around so many young talents and the exposure I got to the city helped me refine my skills, CJay says.
After graduating he began an apprenticeship at Tattoo Seen in the Bronx which lasted two years.
In 1995 he attended Fantasy Fest in Key West Florida, and, impressed with the art of body painting, began the process of changing career paths. In 1996 he moved to Miami and began body painting in nightclubs both in Miami and NYC, working on both club patrons and dancers.
Word spread quickly about my painting, and painting in nightclubs turned into painting for private events, he laughs. Corporate America took notice and hired me as a marketing and promotional tool to their great successand mine!
Past clients include Nike, Bacardi, Grey Goose, Jägermeister, PepsiCo, Revlon, Spin, Sobe Water, Bombay Sapphire, Cirque Du Sole, Marlboro, Camel, the National Football League, NBC, Extreme Variety, Americas Next Top Model (season one), to name a few. His work has taken him around the world to exotic locations such as London, Spain, Germany, Amsterdam, and Greece, as well as across the United States.
He has additionally worked on CD covers and been featured in books such as Ibiza 24 2000 by Ralf Uhler. He has also been featured in Paper and the Miami Herald.
CJay is currently working by appointment only for private galas and special events, and he specializes in product marketing and concept design and development.
Additionally, he teaches the art of body painting at South Florida makeup schools, and has lectured at universities in upstate New York on the same topic. Im a big believer in advancing knowledge on the subject, its one of the purest forms of art around.
With his expertise and background, CJay is, without question, one of the best in the business to speak on the subject.
