Jehovah's Witnesses have a long history of being persecuted around the world. Their activities are banned or restricted in several countries. They are considered an extremist organization in Russia, while their members are imprisoned in South Korea and Eritrea. Even near their main headquarters and publishing house in New York state, Jehovah's Witnesses lead a somewhat secluded life. VOA's Anush Avetisyan has the story.

Lee Strobel, Mark Mittelberg and William Lane Craig are hosting a seminar being broadcast simultaneously to participating churches around the US the evening of October 14th, 2012 in how to deal with the rise of atheism. They are promising to unpack the central claims made by those who deny God's existence and discuss how we can best answer them. This should be very interesting because atheists don't make any claims other than: Your evidence for god is lacking, therefore I don't believe in it. Not sure how they can answer that since they already tried and failed. At any rate, I think it would be a good idea if atheists attended this event in order to find out what is being said about our position and how these fundamentalist evangelicals are preparing themselves to confront us. Hope you can attend and help get the word out!

2019 Spring Choir Tour Send-Off
“Make Our Garden Grow” is the theme of the choir’s 2019 Spring Choir Tour, which includes performances in churches in Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia.
Since Maryville College is celebrating its Bicentennial this year, the program will feature favorite selections suggested by alumni. “Two Wings” is an arrangement of a spiritual by Dr. Harry H. Harter, former choral director and division chair at the College. The concerts also will feature other favorite choral gems such as “Locus iste” by Anton Bruckner, “Ubi Caritas” by Marice Durufle, “Confutatis” and “Lacrimosa” from Mozart’s Requiem. Contemporary selections include “A Boy and a Girl” by Eric Whitacre, “The Rose” by Ola Gjeilo and “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide by Leonard Bernstein.
Past choir tours have taken the choir throughout the Southeastern United States, as well as New York and Washington, D.C. In recent years, the choir has toured and performed in Scotland.

The Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Boonville Mo was dissolved 10 September 2015.
The announcement made that night was that the congregation had been dissolved, the Kingdom Hall being sold and the congregation assigned to Columbia South Congregation.
The Kingdom Hall property is now under control of Watchtower and not the local congregation. The procedes from the sale of this property will go to Watchtower or one of its cover corporations. A number of questions are logical to ask about the financial side of this equation.
1.What are the real reasons it was deemed necessary to liquidate this property?
2.How will Watchtower be using the financial procedes from the sale of this property? Are they accountable as a charity?
As a religion, Watchtower has tax exempt status in USA. However, the IRS does collect information from charitable non-profit organizations. What can be done? Two or more things you can do to help.
1. You can file Federal IRS form 13909, Tax-Exempt Organization Complaint (Referral) Form.
2. File New York state Complaint Form with the Charities Bureau of the New York State Attorney Generals Office.

WHY file this complaint: Tax-Exempt organizations are required to submit IRS tax form 990 return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax.
Follow the url links for two such 990 reports from Watchtower connected organizations.

Carefull examination of these reports will point to places where Watchtower is investing their money, which is millions of dollars. But these fund sizes are very small.

At first, I had wondered if this one year window is only for those living in New York.
