San Francisco. Golden Gate Park.
In the 1860s, San Franciscans began to feel the need for a spacious public park similar to Central Park that was taking shape in New York. Golden Gate Park was carved out of unpromising sand and shore dunes that were known as the outside lands in an unincorporated area west of then-San Francisco's borders. Although the park was conceived under the guise of recreation, the underlying justification was to attract housing development and provide for the westward expansion of The City. The tireless field engineer William Hammond Hall prepared a survey and topographic map of the park site in 1870 and became commissioner in 1871. He was later named California's first State Engineer and developed an integrated flood control system for the Sacramento Valley when he was not working on Golden Gate Park.
The actual plan and planting were developed by Hall and his assistant, John McLaren, who had apprenticed in Scotland, the homeland of many of the nineteenth century's best professional gardeners. The initial plan called for grade separations of transverse roadways through the park, as Frederick Law Olmsted had provided for Central Park, but budget constraints and the positioning of the Arboretum and the Concourse ended the plan. In 1876, the plan was almost exchanged for a racetrack favored by the Big Four millionaires, Leland Stanford, Mark Hopkins, Collis P. Huntington, and Charles Crocker. Hall resigned and the remaining park commissioners followed him. The original plan, however, was back on track by 1886, when streetcars delivered over 47,000 people to Golden Gate Park on one weekend afternoon (the city's population at the time was about 250,000). Hall selected McLaren as his successor in 1887.
North Windmill in Golden Gate Park. Built in 1903, it was used to pump water throughout the park. The blades seen here were covered with canvas sails.
The first stage of the park's development centered on planting trees, in order to stabilize the ocean dunes that covered three-quarters of the park's area. By 1875, about 60,000 trees, mostly Blue Gum Eucalyptus, Monterey pine and Monterey cypress, had been planted. By 1879, that figure had more than doubled to 155,000 trees over 1,000 acres (400 ha). Later McLaren scoured the world through his correspondents for trees. When McLaren refused to retire at age 60, as was customary, the San Francisco city government was bombarded with letters: when he reached 70, a charter amendment was passed to exempt him from forced retirement. He lived in McLaren Lodge in Golden Gate Park until he died at age 96, in 1943.
In 1903, a pair of Dutch-style windmills were built at the extreme western end of the park. These pumped water throughout the park. The north windmill has been restored to its original appearance and is adjacent to a flower garden, a gift of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. These are planted with tulip bulbs for winter display and other flowers in appropriate seasons. Murphy's Windmill in the south of the park is currently being restored.
Most of the water used for landscape watering and for various water features is now provided by groundwater from the City's Westside Basin Aquifer. However, the use of highly processed and recycled effluent from the city's sewage treatment plant, located at the beach some miles away to the south near the San Francisco Zoo is planned for the near future. In the 1950s the use of this effluent during cold weather caused some consternation, with the introduction of artificial detergents but before the advent of modern biodegradable products. These hard detergents would cause long-lasting billowing piles of foam to form on the creeks connecting the artificial lakes and could even be blown onto the roads, forming a traffic hazard.
Golden Gate Park is adjacent to Haight-Ashbury, and it was the site of the Human Be-In of 1967, preceding the Summer of Love. The tradition of large, free public gatherings in the park continues to the present, especially at Speedway Meadow. One of the largest events held annually at the park starting in 2001 has been the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (formerly the Strictly Bluegrass Festival), a free festival held in October. Speedway Meadow also plays host to a number of large-scale events such as the 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival held by musician and filmmaker Michael Franti with Guerrilla Management.

Global Water Dances 2015 - Miami, Florida - USA
This was the 2nd year that I participated in Global Water Dances. The first year I had the opportunity to work with dancers at a Festival and create a choreographed piece at a fountain on the campus of the University of South Florida. This past year was a much more spontaneous improvisational dance that connected me to my friends and dance community. Videotaping this performance that took place in a park on the edge of Biscayne Bay gave me the opportunity to see the gift that dance offers to the dancer and to the viewer. Moving together the dancers became one sound combining all the individual voices within the group. As they ended looking out at the water, I understood what it meant to be a part of a movement choir and I heard the voices of those dancing around the world.
Choreographer: Dale Andree
Improvisational Structure by Lynn Neuman
Dale Andree is director of National Water Dance, a site-specific, simultaneous performance across the United States bringing attention to water scarcity and sustainability. Currently teaching at New World School of the Arts in the dance and theater departments she has also been on the faculty of the May O’Donnell studio and the LaGuardia School in NYC, Salle Pleyel and the Paris Opera Ballet School in Paris, and has taught at many festivals and workshops in Europe and South America. Her interest in arts in education and improvisation inspired her to create the children’s improvisational dance company “The Good for Something Dancers”. As founder and artistic director of Mary Street Dance Theatre she was twice the recipient of the Florida Individual Artist Fellowship as well as multiple local, state and federal grants and was also a founding member of the Miami Dance Umbrella. She received her BFA at Boston Conservatory of Music and her CMA from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies in New York.
Lynn Neuman is a dancer, choreographer, director, teacher and environmental organizer. Her work has appeared under the auspices of Artichoke Dance Company, based in Brooklyn, NY, since 1995. Lynn pursues art’s intersection with daily life and addresses pressing ecological realities with stark physicality, humor and wit. The Village Voice pronounced her work, “brave, musical and inclined to gamble.” Attitude: The Dancer’s Magazine stated, “It’s magic on the audience was you were afraid to look and afraid to look away!” Philadelphia City Paper proclaimed her to have “a powerful and original movement style loaded with substance and impact.” Currently she is a Marion International Fellow for the Visual and Performing Arts conducting research in communities across the country for TOSS, a collaboration that will result in an evening-length multi-media theatre work examining the psychology of consumerism and waste. Her site-specific dances have been commissioned by the DUMBO Improvement District and Brooklyn Arts Council and were featured in the 2013 DUMBO Arts Festival. Her latest work for the stage Overflow, a response to Hurricane Sandy, premieres in April 2016 in New York City. Ms. Neuman has taught at Peridance, Joffrey Ballet School, Leon Dance Arts and Ballet Arts and has been a guest artist at universities and arts programs across the country. She was a teaching artist at the Lincoln Center Institute from 2002-2012 and was on faculty at Florida Gulf Coast University from 2012-2015. Places to see in ( Saint Paul - USA )
Places to see in ( Saint Paul - USA )
Saint Paul, the state capital of Minnesota, forms the Twin Cities with neighboring Minneapolis. It’s home to the Science Museum of Minnesota, with its dinosaur specimens and immersive theater. The Minnesota History Center has interactive exhibits about the region's history. Nearby is the beaux arts Cathedral of Saint Paul. The Cass Gilbert–designed Minnesota State Capitol features paintings of Civil War scenes.
Founded near historic Native American settlements as a trading and transportation center, the city rose to prominence when it was named the capital of the Minnesota Territory in 1849. The Dakota name for Saint Paul is Imnizaska. Though Minneapolis (Bdeota) is better-known nationally, Saint Paul contains the state government and other important institutions. Regionally, the city is known for the Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild, and for the Science Museum of Minnesota. As a business hub of the Upper Midwest, it is the headquarters of companies such as Ecolab. Saint Paul, along with its Twin City, Minneapolis, is known for its high literacy rate. It was the only city in the United States with a population of 250,000 or more to see an increase in circulation of Sunday newspapers in 2007.
The settlement originally began at present-day Lambert's Landing, but was known as Pig's Eye after Pierre Pig's Eye Parrant established a popular tavern there. When Lucien Galtier, the first Catholic pastor of the region, established the Log Chapel of Saint Paul (shortly thereafter to become the first location of the Cathedral of Saint Paul), he made it known that the settlement was now to be called by that name, as Saint Paul as applied to a town or city was well appropriated, this monosyllable is short, sounds good, it is understood by all Christian denominations.
The city's seventeen Planning Districts are:
Sunray-Battle Creek-Highwood
Greater East Side
West Side
Dayton's Bluff
Payne-Phalen
North End
Thomas Dale (Frogtown)
Summit-University
West End
Como Park
Hamline-Midway
Saint Anthony Park
Union Park

Downtown
In winter months, Saint Paul hosts the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, a tradition that began in 1886 when a New York reporter called Saint Paul another Siberia. Attended by 350,000 visitors annually, the event showcases ice sculpting, an annual treasure hunt, winter food, activities, and an ice palace. The Como Zoo and Conservatory and adjoining Japanese Garden are popular year-round. The historic Landmark Center in downtown Saint Paul hosts cultural and arts organizations. The city's notable recreation locations include Indian Mounds Park, Battle Creek Regional Park, Harriet Island Regional Park, Highland Park, the Wabasha Street Caves, Lake Como, Lake Phalen, and Rice Park, as well as several areas abutting the Mississippi River. The Irish Fair of Minnesota is also held annually at the Harriet Island Pavilion area. And the country's largest Hmong American sports festival, the Freedom Festival, is held the first weekend of July at McMurray Field near Como Park.

Niagara Falls Ontario Canada
Niagara Falls is located in the southern Ontario of Canada. It is one of major tourist destination in Canada and located at Niagara city which is connected with United States through several bridges. The fall is about 12000 years old. Bellow is some important fact about the attraction:
The Falls at Niagara are about 12,000 years oldFalls were formed when melting glaciers formed massive fresh-water lakes (the Great Lakes) one of which (Lake Erie) ran downhill toward another (Lake Ontario). The rushing waters carved out a river in their descent and at one point passed over a steep cliff like formation (the Niagara escarpment). From the original falls going over the Niagara Escarpment, the water began to wear its way back up the river. The path that it left is known today as the Niagara Gorge (a deeply-cut and very scenic river path).
Currently, Niagara Falls wears its way back another approximately 1 foot/year.
The Niagara River flows at approximately 35 miles/hour (56.3 kilometers/hour).
There are actually two waterfalls in Niagara, the American Falls and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.
It is the combination of height and water flow that makes Niagara Falls so beautiful.
The Horseshoe Falls are 180 feet (57 meters) high and allow 6 million cubic feet (168,000 cubic meters) of water over the crestline every minute during peak daytime tourist hours (that is about a million bathtubs full of water every minute!).
Man-made attractions of Niagara Falls include Maid of the Mist, Table Rock Scenic Tunnels, Spanish Aero Car, Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, Marineland, Casino Niagara, IMAX Theatre, and the new Butterfly Conservatory.
