A walk through the Clear Creek History Park in Golden, Colorado
Here is a quote from the Golden History Museums' website:
Clear Creek History Park is home to many of the original buildings from the old Pearce Ranch in Golden Gate Canyon (about fifteen miles away as the crow flies). When a housing development threatened the ranch buildings in the early 1990s, the community rallied together to save this piece of Golden's history. Beginning in 1994, the buildings were moved to Golden, log by log, where they were lovingly reconstructed over the course of four years. Clear Creek History Park opened its gates to walk-up visitors in the spring of 1999. Since then, we've invited thousands to take a fresh look at the frontier.

Explore Your Wonder at Dinosaur Ridge
People from all over the world come to see dinosaur tracks, touch dinosaur bones, study prehistoric fossils, and wonder about the age of the dinosaurs. Explore your wonder at Dinosaur Ridge! dinoridge.org
Explore Colorado Dinosaur Ridge
Head just 20 minutes west of Denver and you can walk in the steps of dinosaurs. It really is a trek through time at Dinosaur Ridge, just off Alameda Parkway in Morrison. Dinosaur Ridge is famous for its tracks site. There are over 320 tracks from different types of dinosaurs in a fairly small area. The tracks are easy to see and there’s even one area where you can literally walk in the footprints of dinosaurs. A hundred million years ago, instead of the ridge and foothills that are there now, the area was a flat sandy beach with rivers flowing into the ocean.
At one, about 92 million years ago, everything in Colorado was underwater. There’s proof of that with ripple marks at Dinosaur Ridge and you can also find seashells in the Morrison and Golden areas, among other spots in Colorado.
On the other side of the ridge, which is right across from the 300 million year old Red Rocks, is an area where you can see the evidence of rivers that were like braided rivers in a swamp or bog area that flowed into the ocean. You can see the stream channels, bones in boulders and rocks, and even a cross section view, or sideways view, of dinosaur footprints. The sandstone on the river side of the ridge is finer than the tracks site side.
Just a short drive away and right across from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden is the 1.5 mile Tricertops Trail. On the trail, you can climb in and out of the areas that were clay pits that have been mined. Left of the sandstone, you can see entire ecosystems from plant fossils to even some T-Rex tracks. It’s free to visit the Triceratops Trail. Just make sure you are wearing comfy shoes and clothes for the walk in and out of pits.
At Dinosaur Ridge, shuttle bus tours last 45 minutes. The tour is $4 for ages 4 and up. Entry into the exhibit hall at the visitor center is $1 for ages 4 and up. Children ages 3 and under are free for both.
Summer camps are back this year at Dinosaur Ridge. They are offered several weeks this summer. Cost is $275 for members and $300 for non-members. Yearly family memberships are $40 and individual is $25.
If you want a great hike, then head up on the Dakota Ridge Trail on top of Dinosaur Ridge. It’s about 2.2 miles from the trailhead at Dinosaur Ridge over to the parking lot near I-70. Just watch out for rattlesnakes along the top of the ridge, just like you’ll find hiking in other spots like Green Mountain and even in Red Rocks Park.
Hiking the Golden Wall Trail (Red Canyon, Dixie NF)
The 4 mile Golden Wall Trail is on the south side of scenic Utah Hwy 12 in the Red Canyon in Dixie Nat'l Forest and features bright red rock formations, hoodoos, and panoramic views of the distant plateaus - the highest in North America. The mile long Buckhorn Trail commences near trail end and descends to a campground and bike trail. This scenic canyon is 13 miles west of Bryce Canyon NP.

Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center Tour (4K)
The Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center was very educational, enabling us to learn about the glaciers & how they form. There are nice views from within of the Mendenhall Glacier itself, as well as the Nugget Falls waterfall- the nice thing being you are insulated from the weather outside.
Many of the exhibits in the museum were interactive, so kids will especially enjoy being able to touch and feel, including actual 200 year old chunks of Mendenhall Glacier ice!
We also have a video of our hike to Photo Point & Nugget Falls- you can see that video here:
Molas Lake
Molas Lake Campground was granted to the Town of Silverton in 1925 from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The 137-acre campground sits along the Million Dollar Highway (US 550) in the central San Juan Mountains; the most spectacular peaks in the Colorado Rockies. The Campground is adjacent to the largest wilderness area in the state of Colorado, the Weminuche Wilderness.
Molas Lake Campground provides visitors with unforgettable scenery, a stocked 25-acre lake, National Forest access via the Colorado Trail, and dark, starry skies free from light-pollution. The campground and day-use amenities were completely renovated in 2008. There are more than 50 campsites serving tent-campers, small RV's and pop-ups, and a few sites over 1,500 square feet to serve even the largest RV's. The park has one water pump, several clean and new vault-style restrooms, showers, and a dump-station for RV's.

Buffalo Bill Museum
987 1/2 Lookout Mountain Road, Golden, CO
The Museum illustrates the life, times, and legend of William F. Cody. It includes exhibits about Buffalo Bill's life and the Wild West shows, Indian artifacts and firearms. See Sitting Bull's bow and arrows, Buffalo Bill's show outfits, Frederick Remington's Portrait of a Ranch Hand, and many other objects from the Old West in the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave.
Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden
Robert W. Richardson and Cornelius W. Hauck opened the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1959. Then, and now, our mission is dedicated to preserving for future generations a tangible record of Colorado’s dynamic railroad era and particularly its pioneering, narrow gauge mountain railroads.
In 1964, the nonprofit Colorado Railroad Historical Foundation was formed to assume ownership and operation of the Museum.

Colorado National Monument. Colorado, United States
Colorado national monument, Colorado, United States 2005
Colorado National Monument (locally referred to as The Monument) is a National Park Service unit near the city of Grand Junction, Colorado. Spectacular canyons cut deep into sandstone, and even granite–gneiss–schist, rock formations. This is an area of desert land high on the Colorado Plateau, with pinion and juniper forests on the plateau. The park hosts a wide range of wildlife, including red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, ravens, jays, desert bighorn sheep, and coyotes.[3] Activities include hiking, horseback riding, road bicycling, and scenic drives; a visitor center on the west side contains a natural history museum and gift shop. There are magnificent views from trails and the Rim Rock Drive, which winds along the plateau. Nearby are the Book Cliffs and the largest flat-topped mountain in the world, the Grand Mesa.
Its feature attraction is Monument Canyon, which runs the width of the park and includes rock formations such as Independence Monument, the Kissing Couple, and Coke Ovens. The monument includes 20,500 acres (32 square miles), much of which has been recommended to Congress for designation as wilderness.

Eagle Ate Too Much to Fly!
* Meet Martin & his Birds Jan 16th & 17th at Lake Havasu City, AZ *
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator, educator, propagator, and master falconer with over 50 years of experience.
He was called out to the highway to rescue a Golden Eagle that seemed to be having trouble flying. Martin located the eagle near the highway and after seeing that the eagle could not fly to safety, he caught the bird to examine more closely.
An initial examination revealed a very, very full crop. This is where an eagle stores food and it was very stuffed full. Since the eagle was unsafe in that area, Martin brought her back to our rescue center for a more thorough examination and to give her a little time to digest that big meal.
After just one night stay, though still with some of her big meal in her crop, she was healthy and ready to return to the wild.
Martin took her up to C-Overlook which is a big safe area to release her back to the wild where she belongs.

_Our Mission_
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
_Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release_
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
_Informing, Educating and Inspiring_
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
The CCNP is 22.6 acres of beautiful canyon property donated by Pacificorp, in Cedar City, Utah. We are in the process of developing a permanent wildlife rescue facility and Nature Park for the children of Utah. Sitting on the transition point between the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin, the CCNP’s mission is focused on fostering appreciation, knowledge and wise stewardship of the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin environments, which include wildlife, botany, geology, history, and native culture.
Increased educational opportunities mean an increased awareness, knowledge and appreciation for the land we call home.
At age twelve, Martin Tyner started caring for the sick, injured and orphaned creatures in his home town of Simi Valley, CA. At age nineteen, Tyner was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.

Places to see in ( Denver - USA )
Places to see in ( Denver - USA )
Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an American metropolis dating to the Old West era. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, features landmark 19th-century buildings. Museums include the Denver Art Museum, an ultramodern complex known for its collection of indigenous works, and the mansion of famed Titanic survivor Molly Brown. Denver is also a jumping-off point for ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Denver is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for visitors, plus a diverse collection of neighborhoods that can be attractions in themselves. Many of Denver's older areas are the perfect density for exploration; you'll find an interesting mix of apartments and homes with flowery front gardens, wide flagstone sidewalks, bright green lawns and big, shady trees. Capitol Hill, Highlands, Baker, Berkeley, Uptown, Sloan's Lake, Cheesman, Washington, City and Congress Parks are just some of the neighborhoods bustling with people and places to see.
Denver has many beautiful parks that are full of colorful gardens, meandering paths, crystal clear lakes, abundant wildlife and recreation opportunities. The city has a rich pioneer history, and there are plenty of museums where you can learn all about it. It's also a very environmentally conscious city, with one of the nation’s first municipal “Green Fleets”, public transit vehicles using hybrid and alternative fuel and a city tree-planting initiative. Hop on a green bus, grab a bike or just walk around to discover Denver.
Thanks to a re-urbanization of the city's central core, Denver now has name-worthy neighborhoods with flavors that are all their own – River North (RiNo) for hipster bars and eye-catching street art, Lower Highlands (LoHi) and South Broadway for great eateries and live music, Cherry Creek for glam, Lower Downtown (LoDo) for upscale restaurants and cocktail lounges as well as the Golden Triangle and Santa Fe for arts, theater and museums. In all, there's a neighborhood and a vibe for just about anybody.

Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.
