Times Square 360°, Midtown Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States, North America
Times Square is a major commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. Times Square iconified as The Crossroads of the World, The Center of the Universe, and the The Great White Way is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. According to Travel + Leisure magazine's October 2011 survey, Times Square is the world's most visited tourist attraction, hosting over 39 million visitors annually. Approximately 300,000 people pass through Times Square daily. Formerly Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building now called One Times Square site of the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve. The northern triangle of Times Square is technically Duffy Square, dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's Fighting 69th Infantry Regiment; a memorial to Duffy is located there, along with a statue of George M. Cohan, and the TKTS discount theater tickets booth. The stepped red roof of the TKTS booth also provides seating for various events. The Duffy Statue and the square were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. In the 1980s, a commercial building boom began in the western parts of the Midtown as part of a long-term development plan developed under Mayors Ed Koch and David Dinkins. In the mid-1990s, Rudolph Giuliani led an effort to clean up the area, increasing security, closing pornographic theaters, pressuring undesireables to relocate, and opening more tourist-friendly attractions and upscale establishments. Advocates of the remodeling claim that the neighborhood is safer and cleaner. Detractors have countered that the changes have homogenized or Disneyfied the character of Times Square and have unfairly targeted lower-income New Yorkers from nearby neighborhoods such as Hell's Kitchen. In 1990, the state of New York took possession of six of the nine historic theaters on 42nd Street, and the New 42nd Street non-profit organization was appointed to oversee their restoration and maintenance. The theaters underwent renovation for Broadway shows, conversion for commercial purposes, or demolition. The theaters of Broadway and the huge number of animated neon and LED signs have long made them one of New York's iconic images, and a symbol of the intensely urban aspects of Manhattan. Times Square is the only neighborhood with zoning ordinances requiring building owners to display illuminated signs. The density of illuminated signs in Times Square now rivals that of Las Vegas. Officially, signs in Times Square are called spectaculars, and the largest of them are called jumbotrons. Notable signage includes the Toshiba billboard directly under the NYE ball drop and the curved seven-story NASDAQ sign at the NASDAQ MarketSite at 4 Times Square on 43rd Street and the curved Coca-Cola sign located underneath another large LED display owned and operated by Samsung. Both the Coca-Cola sign and Samsung LED displays were built by LED display manufacturer Daktronics. Times Square's first environmentally friendly billboard powered by wind and solar energy was first lit on December 4, 2008. In 1992, the Times Square Alliance (formerly the Times Square Business Improvement District, or BID for short), a coalition of city government and local businesses dedicated to improving the quality of commerce and cleanliness in the district, started operations in the area. Times Square now boasts attractions such as ABC's Times Square Studios, where Good Morning America is broadcast live, an elaborate Toys Я Us store, and competing Hershey's and M&M's stores across the street from each other, as well as restaurants such as Ruby Foo's (serving Chinese food), the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company (seafood), Planet Hollywood Restaurant and Bar (a theme restaurant) and Carmine's (Italian) along with a number of multiplex movie theaters. It has also attracted a number of large financial, publishing, and media firms to set up headquarters in the area. A larger presence of police has improved the safety of the area.

New York is the most populous city in the United States, and the center of the New York metropolitan area, which is one of the most populous urban areas in the world. A leading global city, New York exerts a powerful influence over global commerce, finance, media, culture, art, fashion, research, and entertainment. As host of the United Nations Headquarters, it is also an important center for international affairs. The city is often referred to as New York City or The City of New York to distinguish it from the state of New York, of which it is a part.
Located on a large natural harbor on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, the city consists of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. The city's 2008 estimated population exceeds 8.3 million people,[2] and with a land area of 305 square miles (790 km2),[3][4] New York City is the most densely populated major city in the United States.[5] The New York metropolitan area's population is also the nation's largest, estimated at 19.1 million people over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2). Furthermore, the Combined Statistical Area containing the Greater New York metropolitan area contained 22.232 million people as of 2009 Census estimates, also the largest in the United States.
New York was founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624. The settlement was called New Amsterdam until 1664 when the colony came under English control.[6] New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790.[7] It has been the country's largest city since 1790.[8]
Many districts and landmarks in the city have become well known to outsiders. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Times Square, iconified as The Crossroads of the World, is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theater district and is one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections. Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a premier global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest stock exchange by market capitalization of its listed companies. Manhattan's architectural skyline is universally recognized, and the city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the twin towers of the former World Trade Center. The original Chinatown in Lower Manhattan is one of the most prominent ethnic Chinese enclaves outside of Asia and draws throngs of tourists to its bustling sidewalks, restaurants, and discount retail establishments.
Mass transit in New York City, most of which runs 24 hours a day, is the most complex and extensive in North America. Approximately one third of mass transit ridership and two thirds of rail ridership in the United States originates from within the New York metropolitan area. The iconic New York City Subway system is the busiest in the Western Hemisphere, while Grand Central Terminal, also popularly referred to as Grand Central Station, is the world's largest railway station by number of platforms. New York's airspace is one of the world's busiest air transportation corridors. The George Washington Bridge is the world's busiest motor vehicle bridge.[9]
New York City is famous for its ethnic diversity and population density. In 2005, nearly 170 languages were spoken in the city, and 36% of its population was born outside the United States;[10][11] the New York region continues to be the largest metropolitan gateway for legal immigrants to the United States.[12]
New York City carries an important role as a center of culture. The city prominently excels in its spheres of art, cuisine, dance, music, opera, theater, independent film, fashion, museums, and literature. The New York Times has won more Pulitzer Prizes for journalism than any other news publication. The city is the birthplace of many cultural movements, including the Harlem Renaissance in literature and visual art; abstract expressionism (also known as the New York School) in painting; and hip hop,[13] punk,[14] salsa, disco, freestyle, and Tin Pan Alley in music. New York is also widely celebrated in popular lore, featured frequently as the setting for books, movies, and television programs.

From Wikipedia:
Harlem is a neighborhood in the northern section of the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is bounded roughly by Frederick Douglass Boulevard, St. Nicholas Avenue, and Morningside Park on the west; the Harlem River and 155th Street on the north; Fifth Avenue on the east; and Central Park North on the south. The greater Harlem area encompasses several other neighborhoods and extends west to the Hudson River, north to 155th Street, east to the East River, and south to 96th Street.
Originally a Dutch village, formally organized in 1658, it is named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. Harlem's history has been defined by a series of economic boom-and-bust cycles, with significant population shifts accompanying each cycle. Harlem was predominantly occupied by Jewish and Italian Americans in the 19th century, but African-American residents began to arrive in large numbers during the Great Migration in the 20th century. In the 1920s and 1930s, Central and West Harlem were the focus of the Harlem Renaissance, a major African-American cultural movement. With job losses during the Great Depression of the 1930s and the deindustrialization of New York City after World War II, rates of crime and poverty increased significantly. In the 21st century, crime rates decreased significantly, and Harlem started to gentrify.
Harlem is part of Manhattan Community District 10.[1] It is patrolled by the 28th and 32nd Precincts of the New York City Police Department. The greater Harlem area also includes Manhattan Community Districts 9 and 11, and several additional police precincts. Fire services are provided by four New York City Fire Department companies. Politically, Harlem is represented by the New York City Council's 7th, 8th, and 9th districts. The area is served by the New York City Subway and local bus routes. It contains several public elementary, middle, and high schools, and is close to several colleges including Columbia University and the City College of New York.

Chocolate Overload!!! - All 5 Attractions at Hershey's Chocolate World - Hershey, PA
A visit to Hershey's Chocolate World is the perfect way to learn about the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania. We purchased the Adventure pass, which allowed us entrance to all four paid attractions in the building and gave us a free parking pass. We began our day at the all new Hershey Unwrapped - a stage attraction that helped us to use all of our senses to indulge in chocolate tasting. The 4D Chocolate Movie took us into the factory with the characters of chocolate world to solve a fun mystery. Next we boarded the trolley - a ride all around the city that taught us the history and story behind Milton Hershey. This was the highlight attraction, as it was extremely well done and interactive with characters, chocolates and music throughout. We took the free factory ride - an animated tour of how chocolate is made before heading into the chocolate factory ourselves to make our own candy bar. The kids loved watching their candy and chocolate selections roll down the conveyer belt and be created before their very eyes. And yes, we walked away with plenty of delicious Hershey chocolate!

Lower Manhattan, also known as Downtown Manhattan or Downtown New York, is the southernmost part of Manhattan, the central borough for business, culture, and government in the City of New York, which itself originated at the southern tip of Manhattan Island in 1624, at a point which now constitutes the present-day Financial District. The population of the Financial District alone has grown to an estimated 61,000 residents as of 2018, up from 43,000 as of 2014, which in turn was nearly double the 23,000 recorded at the 2000 Census.
This is a list of neighborhoods in the New York City borough of Manhattan arranged geographically from the north of the island to the south.
The following approximate definitions are used:
Uptown Manhattan is the area above 59th Street; Upper Manhattan is the area above 96th Street.
Downtown Manhattan is the area below 14th Street; Lower Manhattan is the area below Chambers Street.
Midtown Manhattan is the area between 34th Street and 59th Street.
West Side is the area west of Fifth Avenue; East Side is the area east of Fifth Avenue.
Neighborhood names and boundaries are not officially defined. They may vary or change from time to time due to demographic and economic variables.
