Windsurfing at Hood River on 7/3/11
Windsurfing at the Water Front Park in Hood River on 7/3/11.
Sail size was 5.0m in the morning and 5.6m around 3pm. Wind dropped off suddenly around 5pm. There is a slight wind shadow in the middle of the river at this location. The wind was slightly southerly and therefore the Washington side got the most wind. This location is definitely not as consistent or steady as the Fish Hatchery which is on the Washington side.

11 Days Touring The Pacific Northwest
Come along with me for an 11-day vacation in the Pacific Northwest!
We visit Coeur d'Alene, Idaho... Seattle, Washington... Vancouver, British Columbia... and the Silver Mountain resort in Kellogg, Idaho. I guess I could call this video Planes, Trains, & Automobiles... because I travel in all three of them at different points of this big adventure. It's kind of funny that during this one 11-day vacation, I managed to travel on a jet airplane, a turboprop airplane, a diesel locomotive, a steam locomotive, and I managed to get a look at three cruise ships, too.
The purpose of the trip was to visit with my relatives in the Pacific Northwest... including my sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephew, and more. We had a lot of fun during our get-together, and it was fun for me to experience some of the area's biggest tourist attractions... about a year in advance of my planned move up there.
Subscribe to my YouTube channel if you like this type of travel video... and feel free to use the services of my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher, if you're interested in setting up some kind of big adventure of your own. You'll find Caitlin at ambrentravel.com

Explore Oregon Recreation: Tyee Campground
Take a deep breath and get ready to relax on the shores of one of the best rivers in Oregon. Tyee Recreation Site has 15 non-reservable campsites and is located on the main stem of the Umpqua River. Many of the campsites are located right on the bank of the river.
A day-use picnic area and 50 person pavilion offer an exceptional setting for small group activities. Easy access to the river allows for fishing and water play opportunities. Keep an eye towards the sky for a chance to see the resident Osprey in the day-use area.
Know Before You Go:
• All campsites (except site #1), restrooms, water spigots, and the pavilion are wheelchair accessible.
• To reserve the pavilion, visit recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777.
• Pets are allowed in the campground, but must be kept on a 6-foot or shorter leash.
• Campground is open year round, however sites 11 - 15 are open from late-April to Mid-October.
Directions:
From I-5 in Sutherlin, Oregon, head west 12 miles on Highway 138. At Bullock Bridge, just past Tyee Landing, turn left/south and then an immediate right onto County Road 57; the campground is 1/2 mile downstream.
Point of Interest:
Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the chance to catch salmon, steelhead, or bass depending on the season. The town of Elkton is nearby which is well known for its wineries and Butterfly Pavilion.
