Running Florida Trails With Golden Retriever: Lake Overstreet Trail, Tallahassee
Maverick and Me running Lake Overstreet trails in Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee, FL. The trial is 3 miles long. Going clockwise around the lake for about a mile and you will come across a picnic pavilion and a restroom with access to the lake, but I wouldn't swim in Overstreet, nor would I let Mav swim due to gators and snakes. This spot is very secluded and rarely used. There are multiple benches throughout the trail. If you go counter-clockwise around the lake there is a water fountain 1/4 of a mile and a lookout dock about a mile in. Check for ticks!
Mountain Biking the West Cadillac Trail in Tallahassee, FL
The West Cadillac Trail was my favorite section of trail from the short visit to Tallahassee, its a lot more natural than the Tom Brown side of the park with almost no man-made features, but its unique to FL in the sense that it feels like a N. Georgia trail; good thing is you can definitely fit in Tom Brown and both Cadillac Trails in a single ride to get some good variety.
Lots of flow on this one with some nice crunchy ground and both prolonged (by FL standards) elevation changes as well as sudden changes. Enjoy!

First Ride Tom Brown & UWF Mountain Bike Trail Drops & Jumps
Got a bit of a late post happening. Was waiting on my new mic to come in and got a bit lost on what I was doing. (Also having a 2nd real job is not helping matters) So digging into the archives of my mountain bike videos I pulled out of the hat a weekend trip out to, near, Pensacola Fl. My brother was living out there at the time so I figured was a good chance to check out some of the north and west Florida trails, which included Tom Brown MTB trails as well as the UWD trails in Pensacola. Was a really fun 3 days of Florida mountain bike trail riding and watching these videos makes me want to go back up and ride there again though with the downside of not having somewhere to stay this time around.
I'm going to leave links to my PayPal and gofundme page here if anyone would like to donate to my recovery fund.

Mountain Biking San Felasco in Alachua, FL
Alachua is just a short drive away from Santos and it provides some awesome XC riding giving a very different experience. If you are coming this way, riding both these places is not only possible in a weekend, but a great plan; go to Santos to satisfy your tech craving and then come to San Felasco to put in the millage.
I hadn't crashed in quite some time, while this one was nothing serious it shows that even in the easiest of trails you can make a stupid mistake. I'm not exactly sure what I did, but hey, at least I was recording.
The GoPro lens protector ( saved the lens, the stem scratched the protector significantly, to the point I had to throw that one away, if I hadn't had a protector on there I would be out a GoPro.
If you just want to take a quick look at the fall go to 3:30, slow-mo at 4:08

Mountain Biking Tom Brown Park in Tallahassee - Magnolia Trail
I've been having so much fun filming for this channel I thought it was time to hit some of the further away from me parts of FL.
I had always heard great things about central FL, mainly Santos (where we're going soon), but not much is heard about Tallahassee, which is really unfortunate, because I had a great time there and was only able to hit 3 of the many trails they have.
Tom Brown Park is home to the Magnolia Trail, which connects to the Cadillac Trails which we will look at next week. Tom Brown Park has nice elevation changes reminiscent of Georgia instead of FL and has a very nice mixture of flowy singletrack with beautifully built features.
Kudzilla, Wally World and Gun Range loop round of the advanced sections of the park, and although my jump skills are quite terrible, it was great to hit these flow sections. This place is a must visit for anyone withing driving range.

Tallahassee Warrior Walk
With a backdrop of live oaks draped in Spanish moss, and the sound of birds chirping, nearly 350 eager competitors ignored the rainy forecast to participate in the Wounded Warrior 5k race/walk held at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park on February 23. The gardens are an ideal location for events such as this with ample trail space for participants. After completing the race, there are additional trails that wind through the gardens that are blooming with seasonal flowers like azaleas and dogwoods. There are picnic pavilions and grills along the lakeshore and lots of room for the kids to run and play.
Veterans, active military members, recruits, reservists, civilians -- and even some in strollers -- completed the course that began at Lake Hall, winding past the gardens entrance to the Lake Overstreet Trail and back.
When asked why they came out in the dreary weather, they all had about the same thing to say -- to support those men and women in the military, some of whom are close friends or relatives, who sacrifice daily for those of us here at home.
Event chair coordinator Sarah Jean Fickett, a University of Florida student, organized the Tallahassee Warrior walk, which raised more than $10,000. The proceeds from the race benefit the Wounded Warrior Project whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors by raising awareness of the needs of injured service members and help them readjust in the civilian world when they return home.
Tallahassee St Marks Historic Railroad State Trail
The St Marks Historic Railroad State Trail that runs from Tallahassee to St. Marks is one of our favorite bike trails in the area! We love the beautiful setting and scenery and the tranquil ride it provides. St. Marks makes for a fun destination for a picnic at the water before riding back on the 20.5 miles long trail. And it's a great workout for sure!
